Chapter 1523: Chapter 496: So It’s a God! Activation Impossible! (Part 2)

The workers can’t even speak of guns; the best weapon they hold is merely a wrench, making it impossible to confront these security forces. Within just a few seconds, a large number of workers were knocked to the ground, covered in blood.

A worker leader, his face covered in blood, cursed as he was escorted into a vehicle by the security forces.

"You accomplices of devils, God will not spare you!"

"God?"

The security guard nearby heard the curse and remained indifferent, as after all, God doesn’t pay their salaries.

"In this world, whoever has money is God."

At first, nobody paid attention to this chaos. It was merely a farce created by the workers, an everyday disturbance from the lower class, a doomed labor-capital confrontation.

Until this disaster became closely related to everyone.

The news that they were replacing AI with living human brains, instead of workers, quickly spread throughout Marseille.

There’s a joke in market economics that when economists predict markets, they always pre-assume the market individual as rational.

In reality, the market is never rational, and the actions of social groups are often full of impulsiveness. They swarm in, they swarm out, turning every self-proclaimed rational economist and their theories into a joke.

Perhaps in the eyes of the European Community’s upper echelons, we were using foreign people’s brains as computers, not domestic ones. Even if you’re aware of it, you shouldn’t be anxious. In fact, you should feel proud like us.

Moreover, they aren’t using these people’s brains for free; they leave a portion of computational capacity for them to dream sweetly. Isn’t that more comfortable than living in reality?

These people should thank us.

They are clearly unable to empathize with the lower-class people.

In the eyes of those grassroots Europeans, this is by no means a reflection of status. On the contrary, it’s evidence that the upper class has gone mad, wanting to turn them all into biological computers!

Are there any differences between Europeans and Asians in your eyes?

You say it’s a Latin American’s brain, but how can we know for sure? How can you prove it?

These are no longer the days when life was barely manageable; at least you could still survive then.

Now they want our lives!

They even want to harvest our brains and stuff them into machines to work tirelessly day and night.

How can the lower-class people endure this?

So, Marseille in France was instantly thrown into chaos. Thousands of French people took to the streets, writing all sorts of protest words on crude cardboard with markers and began the grand march.

Among the marchers, some even sang the national anthem "La Marseillaise"

"Onward, children of the homeland, rise quickly."

"The glorious moment has come, tyranny is oppressing us, let’s raise the blood-stained flag!"

Compared to the proper Victoria’s choice from the UK, the French are considered the most courageous in Europe. At least this time, they dared to rebel and took the lead in marching.

In a state of being cut off from external networks, the European Community monopolized the inflow of information from outside Europe, but did not control the flow of information within the region. After all, Europe is just a small handful of places, not like New America filled with bandits and robbers everywhere, where you can travel anywhere with the push of an accelerator pedal on a hovercar.

The result was that the events in Marseille quickly spread through the network to other cities in France, and then radiated to the whole of Europe.

When people discovered that their recent unemployment was because the authorities replaced them with living human brains, everyone felt the sky was falling.

The development of events clearly exceeded the expectations of the European Community. Panic spread through the lower layers of society like a virus, leading to various conspiracy theories emerging one after another, which in turn intensified the panic.

At such a time, government agencies should stand up to refute rumors, but the prerequisite is that the government has credibility. The European Community now has almost no public credibility.

No matter how those officials explained, their lofty attitude would only further anger more citizens.

Crime deteriorated rapidly, and numerous terrorist organizations sprang up like mushrooms after rain, promoting various doomsday theories. Moreover, extremists carried explosives into local city halls and perished together.

Eventually, a massive demonstration broke out.

Every city, every street corner

They didn’t suddenly awaken, realizing that they needed to fight for their rights. Instead, they acted on biological instincts.

If they didn’t do this, they would truly die. Even if it was merely to survive, they had to participate in this march.

Moreover, the participants included not only assembly line workers but also a large number of lower and middle-class company employees.

The Human Brain Array is no easy program limited to repetitive tasks; almost anything a human can do, it can do too.

Theoretically, jobs in non-creative industries can all be directly replaced. The Human Brain Array completely compensated for the lack of large-scale application of artificial intelligence to real front-line production due to the issue of wandering AIs.

(Honestly, the author doesn’t understand why the cyberpunk world still maintains manual assembly lines despite the developed AI industry and can only try to rationalize it.)

Engineers from various industries are facing significant challenges from the Human Brain Array, leaving them unable to relax.

Logically, the Human Brain Array’s triggering such a large-scale unemployment wave in society would prompt the government to either conduct job transfer technical training or proceed gradually. Instead of forcing the entire society to turn collectively, which inevitably would cause intense social turmoil.
