Chapter 1490: Chapter 483: I Don’t Believe It_3

As part of Tokyo University’s culture, Taoism has been more demonized, whereas Esoteric Buddhism is rarely demonized by Europeans and Americans, which is illogical.

The group looked at New Dynasty Elegance in amazement, waiting for his explanation.

"Back in the day, when the golden enforcers stormed the demon king’s palace, the reincarnated demon monk fled to the United States with numerous high-ranking lamas, and they’ve been rooted there ever since. You can find them in Utah and Atlanta, along with various Mao Shan sects and the Northeast Five Immortals, but these haven’t fared well, all turned into witch cults, never mixed into the upper echelons like the grand monks did."

"These prayer flags below are mostly their handiwork."

For some reason, upon seeing these prayer flags, New Dynasty Elegance thought of the AI that self-obliterated in Night City and the Esoteric Buddhism group it developed.

This AI truly enlightened on Buddhism, worthy of being called an accomplished monk, but what about humanity?

Damn, can’t bear to look, might as well kill them all.

His mood instantly grew tremendously foul.

Though reason told New Dynasty Elegance their brainwashing of the world was unacceptable, it’s like killing people; it doesn’t solve problems, but damn it’s satisfying!

If there was a button that could instantly kill these cultists below, New Dynasty Elegance would press it without hesitation.

Press it a hundred times!

"Listening to you, it seems no one here is decent. Isn’t that too extreme? And how do you know all this? We’ve never heard of it before."

Ruzuo was quite taken aback; after completing the mission, they certainly wouldn’t want to kill all the people here, right? Someone must switch gears!

Even he had to say — I think you all are a bit too extreme.

Ruzuo wasn’t like Super Earth, having descended upon the castle; he had only seen a few pictures and text records, very different from witnessing firsthand.

"These are all in the archives, and without a central-issued letter of introduction, average people can’t see them. Hope you remember what you think now."

New Dynasty Elegance squeezed out a sinister smile.

"Once down there, don’t change your mind upon seeing other things."

"0.0?"

The hovercar quickly moored and stopped in a discreet mountain clove, an agreed-upon rendezvous point.

The counterpart had parked two vehicles here, camouflaged with tarps, but no sign of people around; their whereabouts unknown.

Brother Ni scoped out, hearing no movement, nor seeing ally markers on the minimap.

"Where are the people? Only seeing two cars?"

The players didn’t know who the contact was, likely non-player, else they would have reached out already, maybe an NPC for a mission.

Having sat in the hovercar for over ten hours, Ruzuo had phantom pains in his rear.

"Could be they went for a dump? Nature calls."

Jackal moved his nose, sniffed around, seeming to catch a scent.

"Seems someone’s here, a fishy smell like the barbecue stalls in Night City."

"I’m here."

On hearing a voice, the players swiftly armed themselves, aiming at the empty spot nearby.

Upon discovery, Li De decided not to hide. After a bit of light distortion, his figure became visible, albeit with a face as dark as the bottom of a pot.

What did they mean by fishy smell from the stalls; hadn’t he delivered contraband for a year?

Li De recalled changing clothes and taking a shower, wondering if his cybernetics had absorbed the smell.

Seeing the somewhat familiar dark face, Brother Ni was shocked, jaw dropping wide.

"Why is it you?"

The others kept their eyes fixed on Li De, fingers resting on triggers, with no intent to relax.

Ruzuo asked Brother Ni.

"You know him?"

Brother Ni lowered his gun.

"I know him; judging by the minimap and icon, he’s an ally."

After confirmation, everyone put down their guns, while Cybercles teased the unfamiliar dark-skinned man before them.

"Turns out he’s one of Brother Ni’s family; say something sooner, I nearly couldn’t control the machine spirit and started shooting. You know how it is, working as a part-time cop in Night City, old habits die hard."

"Screw you."

Brother Ni kicked him disapprovingly.

"Let me introduce, this is former Federation top agent Solomon Lid, who was a great help in killing Hansen with the Giants."

Li De paid little attention to Cybercles’ discriminatory remarks, having been in Night City for so long, he deeply understood players’ mindsets couldn’t be fathomed like normal humans.

Arguing with them would only excite them more, so he pulled aside the camouflage tarp.

"Get in the car first; we can talk inside."

Li De had prepared two unremarkable SUVs, both second-hand, looking dusty and inconspicuous. Yet the players didn’t mind, quickly piling in and cruising away.

As they headed in Atlanta’s direction, Li De addressed the players.

"I’ve already disguised your new identities, along with prosthetic masks under each of your seats. Our target this time is no ordinary foe; you’ve been notified that any unauthorized clashes with local personnel are prohibited."

"Received."*N

Li De checked the rearview mirror, confirming they listened, and sighed in relief. Lin Miao had chosen some of the more obedient players, at least not including those like Jianxue and Super Earth, which were utter wildcards; otherwise, this bunch would already be plotting to blow Atlanta sky high.

But as they traveled, curiosity bubbled over as they inquired about this and that, acting as if they knew nothing about the United States, like a bunch of bumpkins newly arrived in the city.

"Hey! Why does the map show somewhere called Oxford? Isn’t Oxford supposed to be in the United Kingdom?"

"Really? And there’s Athens, Troy—damn, did we fly to the wrong place? According to the minimap, we’re in the United States."

Li De could only sigh helplessly.

"Ah....."

For the first time, he found the new agents from the Intelligence Bureau so endearing.

The destination was Atlanta, yet Atlanta wasn’t just a city but a regional term.

As the city center, Atlanta’s skyscrapers rose tall, their black-and-blue reflective walls resembling obelisks planted in the ground, while dense flocks of hovercars buzzed through narrow passages between the high-rises, busy and unrelenting.

Encircling the city center, numerous small districts existed, not directly connected, only linking to the city center via highways like satellites encircling a planet.
