Chapter 1386: Chapter 449: The Impact of Literary and Artistic Works on Political Propaganda_3
The shells landed nearby, leaving the ears deafened, as both sides’ firepower was so fierce it even pushed the tides back.
After swiftly securing the landing point, the officer found the squad where the protagonist was located.
"Valentine, take your team, and go to Da Haguai to find a Private James Ryan."
"What?"
"His two brothers just sacrificed their lives, and his mother has only one son left."
The scene switches to Night City on the Taiping Continent, where a mother stands at the door, immersed in the grief of receiving two consecutive notices of her sons’ deaths in action.
Since the characters are fictional, the roles of the command are made to resemble traditional US military leaders, rather than finding the Wildmen and others.
"Now, the entire central Cuba is out of contact due to the nuclear EMP, and we only know his last position was north of Da Haguai, where it may suffer the enemy’s craziest counterattack."
Several general-looking people gathered to discuss this, and finally, the highest-ranking one said,
"I believe he is still alive, and we cannot let the mother who believes in heroes be disappointed. Find him, and bring him home."
Subsequent development follows the original plotline: encountering the European Alliance Army, rescuing a father and daughter, covering the retreat...
However, the squad is made up of a mixed group, familiar people in Night City can almost instantly recognize the gang influences of the Tiger Claw Gang, Valentino Gang, and Vortex Gang in this squad.
Yet, after experiencing battles, growth, transformation, and sacrifice in the storyline, no one would look at them with the eyes of a gang anymore.
Saving Private Ryan can definitely be considered one of the best war films in film history,
With impeccable music, cinematography, and war realism, it’s an excellent script and character development, and the humanistic care and anti-war thought contained within are exactly what this cyber era is lacking.
Of course, so-called literary works are inevitably filled with ideological content, such as the harm caused by drugs implicitly targeting Europe in dialogues, or how European pilots bombed and slaughtered Cuban civilians, obvious British prisoners of war who were released by enemies due to pleas for mercy walk out of the enemy’s ranks, even blatantly stating that Valentine and the others wouldn’t kill prisoners, brewing a full hatred score.
It was when Valentine shot him dead, that the audience cheered.
"Yes! Well done!"
Henry waved his fist, unable to contain his excitement over Valentine’s actions, tears welling up in his eyes.
It wasn’t within the task of saving Ryan that they sacrificed themselves.
They helped allied forces hold the line, gained time for civilians to evacuate, and helped Ryan’s unit complete the mission of defending Da Haguai,
They killed enemies several times their own number, indirectly saving many ’Ryans,’ sacrificing themselves in this war against drugs,
fulfilling their military value and showing courage and greatness that didn’t belong to gang members.
Whether or not the United States itself believes or possesses this virtue, what the film expresses should absolutely be worthy human qualities humans should remember.
This is what Henry really wants to see in artistic works, not the Black Mewtwo that only pursues shock value and excitement.
The state of artistic creation in the cyberpunk world system can hardly be commendable, lacking the addition of leftist narrative, it fails to resonate with most people, ultimately becoming disposable trash.
But the commotion Henry caused soon caught the attention of other family members.
"What are you doing?"
A middle-aged man pushed open the door, looking at Henry inside with a bad expression.
After the story of the prisoner of war camp caused a public outcry, this good-for-nothing second son was forcibly brought back from Cuba by Kent Orléans and confined at home.
When he saw Henry watching Black Mewtwo again, he grew suspicious.
"What are you watching?"
Kent stepped forward, dragged off Henry’s Super Dream Headband, connected to check, and found it’s that damned Horizon Corporation’s Black Mewtwo again.
Though not knowing the specific content, it certainly isn’t anything good.
The harm to teenagers is immeasurable!
"How many times do I have to warn you to stay away from this company’s products? Do you know how much trouble what you are doing has brought to the family?"
Awakened forcibly from the Black Mewtwo, Henry looked at his father, who never cared about him, a surge of anger welled from his heart.
He suddenly stood up from his chair, fearlessly confronted his father, and shouted with a passionate tone,
"What are you afraid of? Huh?"
"Afraid of your deal with the Cuban drug dealers being exposed?"
"Or afraid the news of you slaughtering Cuban civilians will leak?"
"Do you know how much I saw in Cuba?! You executioners!"
His entire mood was still immersed in the earlier Black Mewtwo, and it was what he saw and heard in Cuba that gave Henry endless courage.
When you believe your actions are just, you will possess unimaginable courage and determination.
Slap!
Feeling his authority being challenged, Kent slapped Henry across the face, immediately swelling half of his face.
He then forcefully disabled Henry’s internet plugin, preventing him from accessing the internet further.
"Until you delete those things on your account, you’re going nowhere!"
He left these words behind and left the room without another look back.
Leaving Henry alone to slump back into his chair.
As the second son, he was never expected to inherit the family business, living a muddled life, having nothing but money, only finding escape in drug-induced art creation hoping to gain others’ attention.
This unrecognized life nearly gave Henry thoughts of suicide, but swiftly that thought was suppressed.
No...
I cannot die...
Henry realized when his father felt no shame for what he had done.
I cannot die here; a true fighter does not end their life in suicide.
I must fight like those Cuban soldiers!
I’m going to Cuba!
I’m going to join the army!
The enormous power of artistic works in political propaganda lies right here.
Not just Henry, but the enthusiasm for enlistment began brewing among the entire New American Federation populace.
But... What they wished to fight for, was it the New America controlled by Military Science and Miles, or the ideal beacon of civilization?
