Chapter 1293: Chapter 419: What’s the Scariest Thing to Encounter in CS? Someone Started Spinning! (3)
As the backbone of the Western Front battlefield, Da Haguai naturally received focused attention. A large number of drones swarmed from the South City District into the North City District, making the latter half of the night lively again when it should have been quiet.
The air force drones from both sides bit and chased each other within the city, the roaring engines echoing across the sky. The entire North City District was showered with a rain of shell casings, an extremely terrifying scene.
Drone operations, which have become systematic, are no longer limited to the sky.
A heavy power armor leapt onto the rooftop, firing its dual-arm cannon at a few armed Hellhounds on the street, causing them to stagger wildly.
"Mars, can you hack into these damn machine systems!"
A guard soldier wearing reconnaissance armor was drenched in sweat.
"Working on it, the opponent’s AI is too strong. We need a group effort to crack it, which takes time!"
In Cyberspace, the entire English-French hacker alliance was fiercely battling with Sky Net, Nero, and other AI, thanks to Da Haguai’s underdeveloped network technology; otherwise, the city’s entire power system would have collapsed.
Standing on the rooftop, relying on the power armor’s heavy defense, the captain was about to say something when he was unaware of a gun already aiming at him.
Mann crouched within a building’s ruins at the end of the street. In front of him was a Hellhound robot with its legs planted on the ground as a support, carrying a sniper rifle on its back that was exaggeratedly large.
Or rather, a 40mm caliber electromagnetic sniper cannon.
Only Mann, with his burly frame and ape-like arms, could handle such an outrageous weapon.
"Bang!!!"
The gunshot rang out, and the entire ruins were stirred up with dust.
An egg-sized electromagnetic projectile smashed into the power armor’s chest. The captain, even with the Sianweistan activated, couldn’t react in time. His entire body was struck out, crashing through two buildings and rolling far down the street before stopping.
A washbasin-sized hole was blown through his chest armor, leaving the power armor intact externally, but inside, it was torn into bloody pieces.
A commanding voice simultaneously came through the headset.
"Major threat eliminated by Mann. Alpha Squad, take that building. Enemy tanks are approaching, Beta Squad is intercepting them. They’re only a street away from you. Coordinate quickly with the drones to annihilate this power armor squad here, don’t let them have a chance to escape."
David, from behind cover, said,
"We’re already downstairs, ready to engage at any moment."
"Delta Squad, after capturing the machine gun position in front of you, turn left to support Beta Squad."
Meanwhile, sitting inside an armored vehicle, Eureka was filled with anxiety, feeling a sense of dread, urging the tank ahead.
"Yuan, break through quickly!"
The tank adjusted its cannon, firing at the second floor by the street.
Boom!
A Dragon Field soldier, who had peeked out intending to launch an anti-tank gun, was blown to pieces along with the wall.
But the driver wasn’t pleased, as the tank’s radar lit up.
A large red dot appeared on it.
Yuan was greatly alarmed.
"S-sir... it looks like something’s coming."
"What is it?"
"I don’t know, but it shows up in the sky."
"In the sky?"
Yuan adjusted the camera angle, looking towards the distant sky.
It was a small shadow, moving not too fast, but clearly visible even from this distance, indicating a considerable size.
Eureka frowned, it didn’t look like a hovercar or helicopter or anything.
"What is that?"
The screen zoomed in further and further.
Eureka finally saw what it was.
His eyes widened, as if struck by lightning, his mouth agape, looking like a fish out of water.
Six mechanical giant legs hung limply, a massive mechanical head and body rotated slowly clockwise, a few glowing red night-vision infrared lights drifting ominously in the night sky.
Not just him, even the new players entering the city were dumbfounded.
"What the hell is that?"
"Isn’t that a Chimera? How did it get in the sky, is this a bug?"
"Who left it open, can someone give me a connection!"
"It’s spinning! It’s started spinning!"
The king descended from the sky, furious and grim.
The Chimera with anti-gravity engines appeared like an alien weapon misplaced from another scene.
Its eyes suddenly lit up.
A scorching plasma stream shot from high above toward the ground, instantly turning an unsuspecting armored vehicle into a metal furnace, melting the soldiers inside along with it.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh!!!
With the targeting of the fire control system, a dozen micro-missiles launched, engulfing another street where Cuban forces were holding, blasting everything into chaos.
A few European power armors attempted to shoot it down, but as the pinnacle of ground combat armor, the ADS intercept system far surpassed conventional aerial vehicles, intercepting several anti-air missiles, turning them into fireballs in the sky.
Even if they hit, it might not cause much damage.
The armor of ground vehicles is incomparable to those fragile airborne counterparts, let alone with reactive armor. Conventional anti-air firepower might not even affect the Chimera.
And the threat it posed was even more terrifying than the damage it dealt, particularly the massive body partially hidden in darkness, only becoming faintly visible when firing, allowing most of the North City District to see it.
The already demoralized Cuban soldiers crumbled at this sight.
A soldier, terrified, dropped his gun, and collapsed to the ground, scrambling backward and then crawling away while screaming.
"It’s a demon! That’s a demon! He’s come to punish us!"
One’s retreat quickly led others to follow.
The Cuban lines collapsed rapidly, like a dam breached by floodwaters.
"Don’t run! Get back here!"
A colonel rushed out of an armored vehicle, trying to force these soldiers back to the line at gunpoint.
Bang!
A gunshot echoed from somewhere.
The colonel touched his neck, where blood flowed continuously, before falling to the ground, trampled to pulp by the surging tide of fleeing soldiers.
