Chapter 2040: Movie Emperor Han’s Grassland on His Head 2

With the last soup done, Han Luoqi turned around with the pot in his hands and saw Zhuang Xuejun leaning against the door. He froze for a second.

After her nap, she’d changed into a beige loungewear set and was wearing pink fuzzy slippers. Very homey, very cozy.

His heart warmed along with it.

It really did kind of feel like home.

"How long have you been downstairs? You walk without making a sound, huh."

Zhuang Xuejun straightened up. "You’re just too focused."

Han Luoqi lifted the soup in his hand a little. "I was planning to finish cooking and then go call you. Didn’t expect you to come down yourself. Go wash your hands, let’s eat."

He paused, then added, "No need to rush, take your time, don’t fall."

Zhuang Xuejun couldn’t help laughing. Was he being a bit too cautious?

It was just a pregnancy. She’d gotten through the most dangerous first three months alone, and nothing happened.

By the time she came back after washing her hands, Han Luoqi had already set out the bowls and chopsticks.

He looked up at her with a gentle smile, bright and sunny, like he was glowing.

"Come try my cooking."

Back when they were dating, he’d already wanted to cook for her, but she’d kept making excuses and refused to come over to his place. He never got the chance to show off.

Zhuang Xuejun walked over and glanced at the dishes. They were all things she liked.

She felt doubtful inside. How did he know what she liked to eat?

She wanted to ask, but what if it was just a coincidence? Then she’d be overthinking it.

Seeing her not move, Han Luoqi got a little nervous. "What’s wrong? Don’t like it? I made all this based on what you like, also checked with my mom. It’s all fine for pregnant women."

Zhuang Xuejun was slightly stunned. "How do you know what I like to eat?"

"We did date for a while, after all. If I don’t even know what my girlfriend likes to eat, then I’m a pretty lousy boyfriend, aren’t I?"

As long as you care, it’s not hard to get to know someone.

Zhuang Xuejun felt embarrassed. She hadn’t thought Han Luoqi had put in that much effort.

Yet she’d just been going through the motions. Let alone what he liked to eat—she didn’t even know whether he could handle spicy food.

"Try this steamed fish."

Han Luoqi picked up a piece of fish and put it in her bowl.

Zhuang Xuejun felt a bit uncomfortable.

She was used to living alone. Suddenly there was someone else, and he was treating her so well—it made her feel especially ill at ease.

"You don’t actually have to fuss over me. I’m only staying for three months anyway."

Thud——

The Greatest Best Actor Han felt like an arrow had gone straight through his heart.

Could she stop reminding him that there was only a three‑month time limit?

"Hurry and try it." he urged.

Zhuang Xuejun picked it up and put it in her mouth. Her willow brows arched. "Not bad. Didn’t expect your cooking to be this good."

"But of course. I actually trained for it."

"Why’d you go train your cooking?"

"Because your cooking is so-so. That time you cooked at your place, it really wasn’t that great. I was thinking, if I had to eat that every day after we got married, I’d probably get sick of it. So I went and took a month of classes on my own. Made some progress. I was planning to cook for you, but you refused to come to my place..."

Mid-sentence, Han Luoqi suddenly stopped talking.

He’d probably said a bit too much.

A shimmer flickered in Zhuang Xuejun’s eyes. She quickly lowered her gaze, hiding the surge of emotion in them. "You really didn’t have to do all that for me."

During that trial relationship, her attitude had always been perfunctory. She’d thought he was just playing along too, but she hadn’t expected him to take it so seriously.

Not only had he learned all her likes and dislikes, he’d even gone out of his way to study cooking. It made her feel really awful inside.

She suddenly felt like she was kind of a jerk.
