Pirate Kingship
Chapter 1449: The Stolen Country's Posthumous Child, New Ren Caliph
Not everyone on site possesses the extraordinary keen sense of smell like Jacqueline.
Louis XI, sitting together with his own Queen Anna, was completely oblivious to anything amiss.
Or perhaps there was little left that could restore any gleam to his vacant eyes.
The leader of the Impoverished Knights Order once cursed him with [Ghost Hand Dagger]:
“Whomever takes away the property of the Impoverished Knights Order will end up just like us!
All real estate will be lost, forces will fall apart, the leader… the whole family will be buried together!!!”
Ever since the day he led forces to obliterate some members of the Impoverished Knights Order, seizing all their real estate within the borders of the Iris Kingdom.
Louis XI had been highly vigilant, reaching the point where he was so scared the mere wind seemed ominous.
He even neglected his most cherished “lovers” considerably.
He constantly tried to reassure himself that curses were a fraud, but the mishaps he began to experience grew increasingly frequent:
Once he forgot to wear his wig, and an eagle mistook his bald head for a stone, dropping a tortoise from the sky in hopes of smashing its shell against the ‘stone’. Fortunately, it was the loyal Guardian Knight who spotted this in advance and saved his life;
Then there was the time he was watching a cockfight, where a fighting rooster’s sharp claws kicked his thigh, slicing his femoral artery. Luckily, there was a Middle Sequence [Crow Doctor] by his side, or he would’ve bled to death in mere minutes;
Years of not bathing and only using perfume led to skin diseases, prompting his doctor to advise wrapping his whole body in linen soaked in highly distilled liquor for treatment.
But a maid forgot the scissors, and spontaneously grabbed a nearby candle to burn off the… alcohol-soaked excess threads…
Similar incidents have occurred countless times in the short span of half a year; it was as if Death had come.
After narrowly escaping Death multiple times, Louis XI’s temper grew increasingly volatile, often erupting in fury over trivial matters, eventually leading to severe nerve exhaustion.
Many state affairs had to be handed over to Richelieu, the Red-clothed Prime Minister, who was determined on strengthening the nation, more competent than any Iris King.
Simultaneously, he placed his Queen Anna, with whom he held no affection and even disdain, in the power center to check the Prime Minister.
Despite not feeling any affection for his Queen, she nevertheless retained the [Queen] rank within the Royal Iron Law, embodying the royal authority second only to him.
Initially, Louis XI did not intend to attend the wedding, only wanting to hide away in the heavily guarded Royal Palace to avoid yet another “Death Has Come”, but was dragged along by the Queen.
He planned to rush back to the Royal Palace as soon as the banquet ended.
“Queen, what are you looking at?”
While carefully scanning all potential sources of danger, he suddenly noticed that the Queen beside him was not eating, but immersing herself in a book from nowhere.
Louis XI glanced at the cover, discovering that the book was titled “Key of Solomon.”
The name sounded familiar, and after pondering for a moment, he recalled it was a mystical work banned by the Creator’s Church, authored by the renowned mythological figure: Solomon.
King Solomon was a character from the Mythological Era, living approximately in 990 BCE of the Silver Era.
He was the king of the Remit People at the time, also the most beloved follower of Holy Father Yahweh.
Even in those days when the Holy Father was not yet the sole creator god, he was one of the three chief deities of humanity, with immense power.
The [Key of Solomon] was a powerful grimoire written by King Solomon himself, imbued with the True God’s power bestowed by the Holy Father, its original manuscript was a Zero-Level Sacred Relic.
Legend says he conquered 72 mighty beings among the one-third rebellious fallen angels, recording their names in this book.
The owner of the book could harness the powers of these fallen angels and demon gods through their true names.
Post-Silver Era, though the creator consumed all deities, the [Key of Solomon] did not lose its potency, instead, it became even stronger.
This was because during the summoning of the 72 demon gods, the facing was merely their devoured divinity, devoid of consciousness, greatly reducing risks.
The [Key of Solomon] was the prized possession of the Remit Sect, alongside another incomplete Zero-Level Sacred Relic heretical text [Dead Sea Ancient Scroll] also called [Dead Sea Scrolls].
Naturally, Louis XI did not believe a high-caliber Zero-Level Sacred Relic would appear in his Queen’s possession.
Following the end of the Dark Millennium, the church’s dominion waned sharply, various forbidden knowledge was passively unlocked, the occasional appearance of copied versions of “Solomon’s Key” was no longer an issue.
Still, this book was primarily used to command fallen angels and demon gods, often associated with curses, causing Louis XI, already mired in the Ghost Hand Dagger curse, to frown deeply.
Therefore, he peered over to see what was written on the book’s page.
“Vassago: The 3rd of the 72 Demon Gods.
This fallen angel possesses a kind heart, his duty is to announce the past and future, searching out all hidden and lost things.
He can lead predetermined future events into the present.
Summoning rituals and necessary movements as sacrificial offerings….”
Reading the description, Louis XI was gripped with overwhelming fear.
