Chapter 1166: Chapter 184: Scenery and War Clouds Along the Territories En Route to Marle Castle (Part 3)
These are the top-level cavalry that can stand alongside the Half Griffin Knights of the Human Empire! And there are as many as a dozen of them!
The flying Impact Knights will cause headaches for any enemy. Compared to their ground cavalry colleagues, they sacrifice armor and defense for extremely high speed and power.
As the strongest melee specialized unit under Treachery, they also create great trouble for the knights of Hesse Territory. Fortunately, the territory also has powerful Air Cavalry. Following Hilude’s command, twenty-four Griffins and Horse Vultures, clad in [Fiery Sun Horse Armor], dive down like a cluster of golden meteors, with the knights at the helm, ripping through the air with sharp screeches! Their target is the Chaos Warriors and War Gang leaders at the forefront who appear the strongest.
Dive! Impact! Tear!
The Griffins’ sharp claws and beaks easily rip apart the Chaos Warriors’ crude plate armor, while the heavy impact of the Horse Vultures can crush their targets—along with their weapons—into pulp. The knights’ heavy lances, empowered by the momentum of the dive, possess astonishing penetrating power, and the flails raise a bloody storm as they swing. Perfect armor renders Chaos Warriors’ counterattacks weak and powerless. Flying Horse Knights are like agile Death Gods, using speed and flexibility to accurately pinpoint the Casters and ranged units within the War Gang, dispersing the filthy aura of Chaos with arrows imbued with divine power.
Hilude personally leads the powerful Divine Chosen Knights to confront the formidable Doomsday Knights, using fiery Rare Level longswords to cut them down one by one in the sky.
Upon confirming no new War Gangs appear, Su Li finally uses his powerful Legendary Level Weapon—Oath Lance—to directly summon two squadrons of Green Knights, completing the encirclement of the monsters. This is Su Li’s true trump card; how could he possibly be wandering around with just 200 people?
The ability to summon two squadrons of Green Knights in each battle is his backup plan. It means he can advance and retreat freely, fight if he wishes, or leave if he chooses. Even if surrounded by 5000 or even 10,000 men, he can easily break through and escape, with many sacrificial troops covering the rear.
With the addition of the Green Knights, this battle turned into a one-sided slaughter. The brutality of the Chaos Warbands crumbles before the coordinated, well-equipped, and highly trained Air Cavalry. Their prideful berserk charge collapses instantly under the devastating strikes from above. In under half an hour, several War Gangs trying to take advantage leave behind a large area of corpses and wailing injured, retreating like a tide, disappearing into the ravines of the wasteland. Apart from a few carriage exteriors being scratched by thrown weapons and a few ground guards lightly injured, the escort was nearly undamaged. The Air Cavalry’s debut combat showcase perfectly exhibited its terrifying suppressive power as a strategic unit. Su Li stands on the command carriage, gazing at the golden raptor knights circling in the air, his eyes filled with absolute confidence.
In the following days, he simply let the Air Cavalry loose, allowing them to actively hunt the Chaos Warbands along the way, also helping relieve external pressure on Flash Spear City.
After the bloody battle on Flash Spear City Plain, upon entering Blue Mirror Plain, the mirror-like smooth and vast meadows and the azure lakes scattered within bring a serene tranquility that is refreshing. This place once housed prosperous farms and ranches; now, though slightly desolate, the marks of Chaos have clearly lessened. Given time, the prosperity here will overtake the past in just a few years.
After all, when it comes to farming, the Dawn Goddess Church is indeed far superior to Manan’s church.
Furthermore, after repeated sorting by a large number of troops here, the public order is far better than in Flash Spear City, allowing the caravans to rest briefly, perform more detailed repairs, treat the injured, and strengthen the carriages.
Interestingly, Silvana’s keen Elf perception detected an imperceptible magical disturbance in the air, very faint and not Chaos-like, more like remnants of some ruins or natural nodes. She reported this discovery to Su Li. Out of curiosity and caution, Su Li dispatched Ariana and two of the most vigilant Flying Horse Knights, conducting low-altitude searches in the general direction indicated by Silvana.
A day later, Ariana returned with an unexpected surprise: deep in an ancient dry riverbed surrounded by wind-eroded pillars, the Flying Horse Knights discovered peculiar ore fragments buried deep in the soil, emitting faint arcane glows. After Silvana’s initial appraisal, these were identified as a very rare magical mineral called "Stardust Blue Crystal," a core material for creating high-level enchanted weapons, armor, and certain powerful devices, worth a fortune.
The pure arcane energy contained within is a treasure for Elf Mages. This discovery was purely accidental but added immense potential profit to this journey, also making Su Li aware that Blue Mirror Plain might be hiding treasures yet to be uncovered. When he returns, he can send a Dwarf exploration team for a detailed search here.
The last stretch of the journey is also the most hazardous—Green Moss Swamp on the west side of the Dusk Mountain Range.
Crossing the last ridge of the Dusk Mountain Range, the scene changes drastically before the eyes. No longer are they the grand and desolate mountains but an endless green hell shrouded in damp mist—the core of Count Litaner’s territory, Green Moss Swamp.
This wicked land, managed like a fish in water by the Count, silently unfolds before Su Li’s massive caravan. The air thickens and grows heavy, permeated with a strong scent of humus, rotting plants, and an indescribable fishy sweetness.
