Chapter 1030: Chapter 148: Main Force Decisive Battle · The Might of the Dragon Knight (Part 3)
And the dragon’s fierce roar echoed in the sky, instantly revealing the prelude to this critical battle!
The castle guards covered their ears one after another to withstand the terrifying dragon roar like a shockwave.
Baron Grant, on the ramparts, with blood-red eyes, stared fiercely at Su Li, who was flying in the air, surrounded by numerous Griffin Knights, and roared in anger: "Su Li, do you think you have guaranteed victory? Today, I will bury you at the bottom of Blue Mirror Lake!"
Su Li responded with a subtle hum: "Not bad, you have more spine than I thought, without hysterically questioning why I invaded the Blue Mirror Territory. Since you recognize reality, there’s no need for further words. Let’s decide the victory on the battlefield!"
With that, he waved his hand gently, and the Giant Dragon suddenly traced an elegant arc through the air, swiftly gliding over the military formation, closely skimming the fluttering banners. The fierce wind stirred up the boundless courage and ambition of the army, followed by Su Li’s daunting voice echoing across the battlefield: "Attack! For honor!"
"For honor!"
"For honor!"
"For honor!"
Su Li’s roar was like a fuse igniting a powder keg, instantly exploding the fighting spirit of the entire Hesse Legion. The mountain-and-sea-like battle cry converged into a substantial wave of sound, even drowning out the surge of lake waters, echoing above the lake surface and causing the hearts of the defending soldiers to tremble violently.
Then the massive iron flood commenced, roaring forth.
First to move were the Half-Elf war machines at the front of the legion. Dozens of "Wheat Field Death God" and "Iron Thorns" emitted a teeth-gritting giant gear grinding sound, as they began rolling forward under the forceful pull of numerous heavy Combat Rams. The heavy metal baseplates crushed the ground, leaving deep tracks behind. The rapidly spinning giant scythe discs at the front of the vehicle produced an ear-piercing "Woo-woo" sound, gleaming like the fangs of a Death God. They had a clear target — clearing all obstacles on the open ground leading to the castle; whether caltrops, abatis, or any enemy troops daring to confront them, paving the way for the advancement of the infantry and cavalry behind.
Following this, the ground started shaking violently. It was the advance of the Dwarf Heavy Armor Phalanx! Accompanied by the heavy, thunder-like "Boom! Boom! Boom!" footsteps, three massive steel fortresses formed by the Dwarf Warriors began to move forward. Huge Tower Shields interconnected tightly, forming an almost impregnable moving metal barricade. Long-Handled War Axes and Heavy Warhammers thrust forth from the gaps between shields, sparkling with lethal cold gleams. Their steps were firm and unstoppable, each step made the earth groan as they pressed steadfastly towards the direction of the lakeside shallows, aiming straight for Blue Mirror Castle.
"For Hesse! For the Lord!" The bellow of the Human Knights shook the skies and earth. Led by the Half-Lion Griffin Knights as the spearhead, the Knight Order of Hesse Territory surged like a bursting iron flood! Thousands of armored warhorses began accelerating, their heavy hooves stomping on the earth, emitting a rolling thunder-like rumble. The knights bent low over their horses, their Gilded Plate Armor reflecting a dazzling brilliance under the sunlight, like countless moving golden suns. Lances dropped horizontally, forming a forest of death aimed at the castle and shallows ahead. The dust raised by the horse hooves immediately spread out, merging with the dirt stirred by the Half-Elf machines and Dwarf Phalanx to form a sky-darkening sandstorm, rolling towards Blue Mirror Castle!
The Ogre Mercenaries roared deafening battle cries, taking heavy steps as they charged forward alongside the knights’ flanks or as a second wave. Their Heavy Weapons swung through the air, creating terrifying winds, their heavy footsteps made the ground tremble, merging primitive brute force with the iron flood.
Baron Grant’s performance was worthy of praise as a qualified opponent.
Though already at the end of his ropes, he chose not to defend Blue Mirror Castle to the death, instead leading his forces to array on the high ground east of Blue Mirror Castle, overlooking the massive Hesse army charging upward.
This was his last army of 2000 soldiers pieced together after the defeat at Rapids Castle, with fanatical support from Manann Church followers, and the final aid from other nobles who were tied by interest and sunk too much cost. Most of all, it was composed of locals and mercenaries conscripted forcefully.
At this point, Baron Grant no longer considered interests or reputation; at the critical moment of life and death, he had only one thought in his mind, and that was to win!
So he directly led his forces out of the city gates, arraying under the ramparts not only because the castle indeed couldn’t hold 2000 people, but also to immediately support and expand the advantage once the Green Knights created a gap in the opponent and gained the upper hand, thereby securing victory in one fell swoop.
As for what to do if the Green Knights didn’t win, he never thought about it, nor would he consider it! Because if they didn’t win, his only path would be death. At that point, even if hiding within the castle, there would be no way out. Rather than being captured embarrassingly and cowardly, stabbed to death by a group of vile commoners with daggers, dying in disgrace, he would prefer to fight to the death outside the city. Thus all his deployments were arranged from the perspective of the Green Knights winning, because only winning would ensure his survival!
Against such a victory-focused opponent, only by crushing them completely with a massive iron army can all their fantasies be shattered.
So Su Li decisively launched a fierce assault; this battle he also could not afford to lose! Therefore, under the gaze of all, Su Li directly rode the Giant Dragon, leading the charge fiercely towards the high ground of Blue Mirror Castle.
