Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System
Chapter 511 - 333: The Lord’s Happiness for the Rest of His Life (Part 2)
Yaaawn~
The main door was pushed open again. The Silver Dragon Maiden, with two small dragon horns on her head, walked in from outside, her eyes heavy with sleep. She yawned, plopped down on a chair, and only then realized something was off. ’Why are there so many people today?’
"Huh? Levi, you’re back?" She perked up slightly, looking at the Lord in surprise.
"What’s wrong with you? You look like you haven’t slept in half a year." Levi wasn’t blind; he could clearly see something was wrong with Sophia’s condition.
After all, with a Giant Dragon’s constitution, she wouldn’t be this sleepy even if she stayed up all night, or even went without sleep for a month or two.
"Eh, it’s nothing serious. I think I’m about to go into hibernation," Sophia said, waving a small hand as if to say ’don’t worry’.
Ashiru curiously sized up the girl, whose beauty could make the bright moon shy away. ’Is this the dragon contracted to Lord Levi? She looks so delicate.’
"How long will you be hibernating?" Levi’s brow furrowed. He hadn’t actually considered this possibility.
Giant Dragons do indeed need to hibernate. Each time they emerge from their slumber, they experience a significant increase in both size and power.
This period is also their most vulnerable stage. They usually find a safe and secluded lair to serve as their hibernation spot.
"This time might be a little long. Maybe a few months, maybe a year." Sophia listlessly slumped onto the table, too tired to even eat the delicacies placed before her. The sleepiness was overwhelming. "After this hibernation, I should be able to advance to High Tier Peak."
For Giant Dragons, advancing a Tier was as easy as taking a nap. Only when advancing to the Legendary Tier did they need to put in a little effort.
However, Silver Dragons were exceptionally talented. As long as they lived long enough, they could almost all become Legendary.
"Alright. I’ll build the Dragon Cave for your slumber, so don’t worry," Levi said, stroking his chin.
Sophia had been in High Cliff Castle for so long, yet she didn’t even have a Dragon’s Nest. That wouldn’t do. After all, such a structure was standard issue for a Giant Dragon.
It was also an effective means of intimidating riff-raff.
No matter who came to High Cliff Castle, upon seeing that enormous and luxurious Dragon’s Nest, they’d have to take a good, long look at themselves and weigh their own worth.
The more Levi thought about it, the more urgent building the Dragon’s Nest seemed. And the grander and more luxurious, the better.
’They say wonder-projects bankrupt a nation, but this is clearly a way to strengthen it!’
If conditions allowed, he’d love to build eighty or a hundred Dragon’s Nests.
"I don’t have to pay for it, do I?" Hearing this, Sophia wasn’t worried about its safety. Instead, she clutched the small pouch at her waist with a guarded expression.
"Nope. I will bear the full cost of building the Dragon’s Nest." Levi gave a magnanimous wave of his hand. With several hundred thousand Gold Coins in his pocket, he was feeling quite confident. "But there is a small matter I need your help with."
"Deal." Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. As long as money wasn’t part of the discussion, anything was fine.
...
With the Lord’s return to his loyal High Cliff Castle, and with news of his wedding even reaching the ears of the Goblin slaves, the entire territory visibly came to life.
The citizens worked day and night to decorate all of High Cliff Castle, striving for a festive atmosphere. The Nanny Feders wove exquisite five-colored cloths, a wedding custom said to be from the Feder Old People.
On the wedding day, thousands of blades of five-colored cloth would be hung along the streets of High Cliff Castle. It would flutter in the wind, swaying above the newlyweds’ heads, symbolizing the collective blessing of the people.
The Feder Blacksmiths, meanwhile, were practicing a trick requested by the Lord: heating iron into a molten state and then striking it.
The moment the "iron flowers" appeared, they were dumbfounded. They never imagined that iron, a material associated with slaughter and bloodshed, could be made so beautiful. This was followed by an unstoppable sense of shame. They had worked with iron their whole lives, yet they couldn’t even compare to an amateur.
Gus and his men were at the iron mine, so Levi didn’t plan on going there for now. He decided to first resolve the matter of Sophia’s nest.
Right now, he was with the Feder Craftsmen, planning the location for the Dragon’s Nest.
In the end, after half a day of discussion, he and a few old men in their fifties wearing wooden safety helmets could only stand on the watchtower, sighing at the view of the plains.
The entire Wilderness was an endless plain. The only place with any elevation was High Cliff Castle itself, a hill less than a hundred blades high.
As everyone knows, Dragon’s Nests are always built on high towers or mountain peaks. If it were built on the ground, wouldn’t that make her a "ground-walking dragon"? It would surely be a laughingstock.
Unfortunately, High Cliff Castle met neither of these conditions. The Kas Mountain Range had high mountains, but it was too far from High Cliff Castle to be considered.
The best solution the group came up with was to use Giant Stone to build a platform rising from the ground, and then build on top of that.
But setting aside the cost in manpower and resources, just building a platform slightly taller than the hill they were standing on would take one or two years at a minimum, and that’s if everything went smoothly.
Levi took off the simple, white-painted safety helmet from his head and scratched his hair in frustration.
And yet, the Dragon’s Nest was absolutely essential.
"My Lord, why don’t we build a temporary one for Her Highness Sophia to use for now? We can build the planned Dragon’s Nest slowly over time," a chubby Feder Craftsman suggested.
Any project of such a massive scale could never be completed overnight.
"Sigh, I suppose that’s our only option for now." The Lord could only nod helplessly.
"Father, what are you all discussing?"
Just then, Buji came galloping over from the distance on Biefeng’s back in a flash. Her two small hands were tightly gripping two tufts of his dog-like fur to keep from being thrown off, her face alight with excitement.
For some reason, ever since this little one woke up from her last slumber, she’d become quite wild. She often took Biefeng out to run free on the snowy plains.
Considering one was a High Tier Magical Beast and the other possessed Elemental Power that was shockingly close to the Epic level, they weren’t the type to be trifled with by common riff-raff. So, the Lord didn’t interfere much. He just sighed about how "a grown daughter cannot be kept at home," which made Tina cover her mouth and giggle endlessly.
Levi caught Buji as she flew toward him and flicked her forehead gently. "Disobeying again and sneaking out to play, huh? Did you finish the homework Leiden gave you today?"
As a Lord who deeply understood the importance of the nine-year compulsory education from his past life, he didn’t want High Cliff Castle to be full of illiterates who couldn’t recognize a single word. But right now, trying to get the Beastman Barbarians to study was harder than trying to get them to stop killing.
So, Levi decided to focus on the younger generation instead. He had Leiden, a Giant Goblin who had become quite erudite after further study, act as the teacher. A special hall was built in High Cliff Castle for a two-hour school session every day. All the children in the territory, whether Beastman or Centaur, were required to attend.
Levi didn’t expect every one of them to become a scholar with an ocean of knowledge. It was enough if they could learn to read, do arithmetic, and understand the weight of history, heritage, honor, and the concept of a nation.
Only after the people of High Cliff Castle understood the importance of learning would he formally establish schools for further development.
Right now, High Cliff Castle was like a train that had just gotten on the right track; everything had to be done one step at a time.
"Father, that homework was too easy! I finished it a long time ago!" Buji pouted, covering her forehead. Her pitiful look immediately softened the Lord’s heart. To soothe her, he briefly explained what they had been discussing.
But to the Lord’s surprise, she puffed out her small chest and declared confidently, "Father, I can help you build a platform!"
"Really? Our Little Buji is so amazing!" The Lord was clearly extremely doubtful in his heart, but on his face, he put on an expression that said, ’I believe you’.
The few old Feders standing nearby had to turn away to keep from bursting out laughing. Seeing their Lord act so out of character was like seeing the Undead come to life. The poor old men were struggling so hard to hold it in that they could only start coughing dryly, as if they were all having a collective asthma attack.
"Hmph! I found this Mandot Vine Seed in the Kas Mountain Range. It can grow up to several hundred blades high!" Buji clearly knew Levi didn’t believe her. She rummaged through the miniature shoulder bag Tina had specially embroidered for her and quickly pulled out a seed as large as her palm, displaying it in her hand.
