Pillar of Yita
Chapter 2282 - 93: Ghost? (2)
Mei shook her head: "There is some dark aura in the hall, but not much."
It's quite normal for dark aura to breed in abandoned ruins; they gradually converge, spawning some low-level dark creatures, like the undead.
However, these undead are not the souls of the deceased; they appear to have a physical form, such as skeletons, zombies, and ghouls, but essentially they are just energy bodies driven by dark force.
On the contrary, ghosts and earthbound spirits are true souls of the living.
But the dark aura gathered here is evidently still relatively weak, insufficient to form undead creatures, much less the latter.
This place truly lives up to Milaila's Holy Temple; even after decades of abandonment, it still preserves the weak power of holy light, enough to suppress the breeding of dark force here.
Yet, since the sounds in the hall are not caused by undead, it seems rather strange. Fang Hong listened carefully for a moment, but still couldn't discern the mixed sounds, like a dreamer's muttering, chaotic and illogical.
He paused, turned to Luo Hao, and asked: "What are these sounds?"
Luo Hao replied: "No one can understand?"
"No one can understand?" Fang Hong paused in confusion.
The native adventurers might be understandable, but the Invokers are not merely adventurers of this world; they have the support of technical prowess from another world behind them. With those multiple, overlapped sounds, recording, analyzing sound patterns, extracting the desired content, shouldn't be difficult, right?
Such examples are not rare; many sound labs collaborate with the top teams in Eteliria, and several well-known incidents were resolved by these means.
Wouldn't adventurers have thought of this over the months of haunting?
However, Luo Hao added: "The recorded sounds are quite eerie; whether through the system or recording crystals, there are always parts missing. What remains is also vague, and the extracted parts are just some meaningless noises."
Is there such a situation?
No wonder this place is reputed as 'haunted'; Fang Hong couldn't recall encountering such a case before.
But as he was contemplating, Luo Yu suddenly confirmed: "This is the power of magic."
"What?" Fang Hong turned around.
Luo Yu shook his head, "A certain power interferes with the recording crystal; it's not that the sound is missing, but rather during the recording the surrounding power alters the sound's content?"
"Are you sure?" Fang Hong turned back, asking seriously: "Is there any way to dispel that spell?"
Luo Yu thought for a moment, then spoke: "That's the power of magic, but it's not necessarily a fixed spell; such forces can also occur naturally. To resolve this from the angle of dispelling spell, it might be difficult... but perhaps there's a simple way."
Fang Hong looked at him unexpectedly, "How so?"
"We can hear the original 'form' of these sounds," Luo Yu looked up at the hall, "but the sounds recorded by the crystal and system will shift; I guess it's because they both use the same principle: a recording spell to store the sounds."
Fang Hong realized: "Luo Yu, you mean that force reacts to this spell, thus altering the sound's content?"
Luo Yu nodded.
"So what should we do?" Mei asked at this moment.
"Just use a shield array to block the magical fluctuations."
"So simple?"
"Just that simple." Luo Yu nodded confidently.
But Fang Hong, upon thinking carefully, realized that this matter might not be as simple as Luo Yu said.
The solution might be simple, but recognizing that a force altered the sound rather than a recording fault is likely not easy for the average person.
As Luo Hao said, most people in the community believe it's a recording fault; yet Luo Yu can see through its nature at a glance. This might have nothing to do with the Invoker's talent, as it likely stems from him being with Gita at Kalatu, receiving over a month's training.
This understanding of the essence of magic is indeed lacking in most Invokers.
Luo Yu began arranging the shield array, while Fang Hong remembered something else.
"Where should we take the recorded audio for analysis?" Fang Hong couldn't help but ask; they have no connections to some high-end labs, can't just send it to the community for others to analyze, right?
Or throw it to the military?
However, Luo Hao quickly sent a message:
"Miss Tata says no need; if we can record the sound, several phonology sub-school spells can extract the desired content from it. Even if the magic guided conductor can't, the bard surely can."
He even boasted: "Technology has its strengths, but magic has its solutions in its own world."
Fang Hong immediately knew these words were surely from Miss Tata; even if not her original words, surely Luo Hao's revision.
However, he already had someone in mind, "It's you, Tianlan."
The low whispers in the hall persisted for nearly a Talia tick before gradually settling down. Luo Yu had recorded the sound, and Fang Hong played the recording crystal, finding it identical to what he heard, verifying the correctness of Luo Yu's earlier conjecture.
