Chapter 2231 - 77: The Honorable Guest
Early the next morning, Fang Hong received a message from Su Changfeng.
In the projection of the Communication Crystal, the latter appeared a bit serious and spoke, "Ade, you'd best stop here for a few days."
Fang Hong was slightly taken aback, a bit surprised, "What's going on?"
"A guest of ours wants to meet you. She will arrive at Crosswind Harbor soon."
"A guest wants to meet us?"
"Yes," Su Changfeng nodded, "a rather distinguished guest."
Although he was somewhat dismissive of the other's secretive attitude, Fang Hong considered it for a moment and decided to accept. After all, the other party had just helped them with a significant favor, and though time was tight, three to five days wouldn't matter much.
In the following days, the Seven Seas Travel Group certainly didn't idle about. The others were busy converting the EXP gained from the Elder Tree leaves into effective Levels—Skills, Knowledge, and Spells, while Fang Hong focused wholeheartedly on the modifications to the Spear Cavalry.
To be precise, it was also the modifications to the Silver Bee—
With a plan and a ready-made solution, the work wasn't particularly difficult. However, deeper modifications to the Magic Guided Construct appeared to require some new Knowledge and techniques. Fang Hong meticulously searched his memory and eventually, with Miss Tata, came to a unified conclusion—they would likely find answers in the "Theory of Magic Guided Construct."
Istania, the homeland of Magic Guided Constructs, was almost as reputable as the Empire's Iron City Grains—that's where he learned a lot about Magic Guided Constructs, such as Volumes I (Level F) and II (Level E) of the "Theory of Magic Guided Construct."
Thanks to Lady Aierna, he had a fairly solid grasp of them. Of course, it did consume a considerable amount of experience.
But when diving into more professional domains, his shallow understanding of Magic Guided Constructs was clearly not enough. Luckily, Crosswind Harbor also had its own library and Artisan Association. Fang Hong greeted Su Changfeng there, allowing him to borrow books for free.
He first checked "Magic and Protection," which focused on protection and contained discussions about the Shining Shield, but it didn't meet his expectations.
Next was "On the Sequence and Magic of Energy Overflow," which discussed how Magic Guided Constructs could become larger and stronger and could enhance Main Crystal output. It indeed provided some help to the 'Spear Cavalry—Silver Bee' system, but it didn't solve the main problem.
Fang Hong discovered that there were some writings from the Lingen School here, which leaned towards the Main Construct. Ral Heiman, one of the outstanding successors of this school, was the inventor of the Yinhanz Type Six. This was rare High Rank Knowledge. Fang Hong was initially excited upon discovering them, but upon seeing the learning requirements and experience consumption, he was quickly grounded.
The astronomical difference couldn't even describe how humble he was in front of this Level of Knowledge. This period had been quite smooth, previously giving the Descendants of Flor—in fact, Nogness's Guild—a little lesson, puffing him up slightly, but now he was finally quiet.
Being Level twenty-something in Eteliria was only just the beginning; he hadn't truly entered the domain of the Grand Guild yet.
Finally, with Miss Tata's help, he found what he wanted in a corner, "Body and Parts," a book specifically discussing the Magic Guided Construct's separated subsystem, authored by a relatively unknown individual whose name he hadn't even heard.
But here, insignificant was relative to those truly influential figures; in the history of Alchemy, various masterful craftsmen are as numerous as stars, and minor contributors, like 'little figures,' are as numerous as grains of sand at the Ganges. Comparatively, he wouldn't even count as a speck of dust in that long river.
At least for now—that is.
However, this doesn't mean the work of this 'little figure' isn't important; the author simply wasn't the most important person, but this technology flourished after him, with countless talents emerging, even overshadowing the book's brilliance.
If it weren't for this, Fang Hong wouldn't have specifically sought it out. For a Master it might be of little consequence, but as a beginner, it was just right.
Once he obtained the books, Fang Hong first went to the library management office to handle the borrowing and transcription procedures. In theory, as an Invoker, once he got the book, he could study it at the cost of experience. This Intermediate Knowledge generally wouldn't take more than a day and a half.
However, as early as Kapuka, Fang Hong had already developed the habit of reading and understanding Knowledge and Works himself; if possible, he must endeavor to keep a transcribed version by his side for reference at any time.
In this regard, he shared a common language with Miss Natural Historian. Gita always carried a Xiangzi full of books wherever she went. Tianlan often laughed that the Xiangzi full of books was entirely useless, as Eteliria's Knowledge didn't apply on Earth.
As long as one rationally utilizes the system, that's what most people who entered the Stargate realized.
But habit is habit; it could be considered a preference, especially since it truly had some usefulness. At least Fang Hong experienced the sweetness of a solid foundation—even though the effort and reward weren't exactly proportional.
Nonetheless, an inquiry led to an unexpected joy: Fang Hong discovered the cost of transcribing Knowledge here was extremely low, practically given away for free. Copying the full text of the 'Theory of Magic Guided Construct' Volume III cost only thirteen hundred Lycel, and "Body and Parts" surprisingly only needed six hundred seventy Lycel.
