Pillar of Yita
Chapter 2209 - 71: Kong
"Little Kong, come over and tidy this up!"
"Little Kong, did you clean up that horn?"
"Crossbow Cannon, you're so forgetful again, dismantle the crossbow cannon and bring it over!"
Fang Hong watched the young boy run around like a headless fly, and couldn't help but find it amusing, as if he saw himself from back in the days under Miss Sicape's command.
The one directing him was a girl with long wavy hair, around seventeen or eighteen years old, who seemed to be of mixed descent.
However, Fang Hong thought she wasn't as pretty as Miss Sicape, and certainly not as beautiful as Hilveld.
The massive corpse of the Rock Shark lay across the forest like a rock mountain, and the people of Tabopolis eventually subdued the beast, though at a considerable cost.
But it was all worth it, as that intact long horn was worth at least hundreds of thousands of Lycel, bigger than the one they got en route from Traveler's Rest to Elpaxin.
The striking rock-like long horn was hung up.
Fortunately, it was late autumn, so the stinking blood pool didn't attract swarms of insects.
"That woman seems to be their Ranger Captain," Tianlan, using her likable charm, somehow found out, "By the way, most Ranger Captains are ladies, you know."
"Generally speaking, women are better suited for the ranger class, which requires detail and patience, like Nightingale, but there are exceptions, the Ranger King for example."
Fang Hong agreed with Luo Hao: "Yes, and Red Leaf's previous Ranger Captain was the same."
"For boys of this age, strong women really do become their dream girls; it's a, um, normal phenomenon."
"Oh, I wasn't talking about you, Ade, you're past that age." The Catfolk waved a hand dismissively.
Fang Hong closed his mouth, his face turning red as he thought of the misunderstanding between himself and Miss Miya.
It couldn't even be called a failure, it was simply a joke.
Luckily, besides Miss Tata, he hadn't told anyone else the specific details.
The boy dragged the packed crossbow cannon back, panting, and said to the girl:
"Miss Shaye, where should I put these?"
"Just leave them here. You can take a break now." The girl answered softly.
"Then I'll be off."
"Okay."
The boy felt a slight sense of loss, but quickly recovered, dropped the things, looked in a specific direction, and dashed over.
A burly man caught him: "What are you running for, kid, have you finished your work?"
"Finished, Mr. Lift."
"Really? You substitutes love slacking off the most."
"Mr. Lift, I'm already a provisional full member."
"Pah, how could there be a full member after only half a year, if it weren't for those Red Leaf traitors..."
The man abruptly stopped speaking, gave him a shove, "Alright, scram."
The people around watched them with a chuckle, "Little Kong, do well, your drunkard dad is counting on you to make it big."
"Pah, and he calls himself an Invoker," the man spat, "Why aren't you gone yet?"
The boy, not annoyed, scratched his head and chuckled, "Then I'll be going, Mr. Lift."
"Scram!"
Everyone around finally couldn't hold back their laughter.
The boy jogged over, and as he passed Fang Hong and the others, he couldn't help but look at them with respect and awe before finally going to his captain—the swordsman:
"Captain, the battlefield is cleaned up."
The swordsman finally looked away from Fang Hong and the others with a much softer expression at the boy, "Well done earlier, Little Kong. I'll apply for an extra reward from the guild for you later. You have potential; just a bit more effort, and you can become a full member soon."
The boy's eyes shone as he nodded vigorously.
The swordsman patted his shoulder, handed him something, then pointed at Fang Hong and the others, whispering a few words to the boy.
Fang Hong naturally noticed the boy's gaze and was just about to ask when he saw the boy walk over carrying something.
"Ladies and gentlemen..."
Thinking of Fang Hong summoning that towering construct earlier made the boy shiver inside. He wasn't ignorant; he knew that the Alchemist before him was probably of quite a high level—perhaps not Level 30, but Level 40 at least, otherwise how could he handle the Rock Shark so effortlessly?
But whether it was Level 30 or Level 40, they were already at the peak of the First World's Invokers, such people among natives at least held the position of a lord, perhaps not as renowned as Duke Phoenix, but in more remote areas, they were certainly at the level of a Praetor.
To ordinary people, such figures were already legends, how many didn't have some extraordinary background?
Of course, he couldn't imagine that the Alchemist before him, full of bravado, was actually only just over Level 25.
Considered an expert to them, but still far from the extent he imagined.
But the boy couldn't think of all that; he just seemed a bit guilty: "Our captain said, thank you for your help, earlier he misunderstood you, this thing, is, is your reward..."
He was so nervous that his voice lowered, afraid that these seniors would impatiently tell him, are we interested in such a reward? Are you trying to dismiss beggars?
