Chapter 2116 - 43: Thorn Frontline_2

  • Next Chapter

In Eteliria, Invokers embarking on adventures have a common piece of wisdom: when picking a resurrection point, even if it's farther away, it's best to choose one you're more familiar with, if possible.

The reason being, you never know what might be outside the resurrection point. It could be an ambush, or even a situation where you're stuck in an underground, abandoned temple with no way out.

The floating continents of the First World have gone through at least three eras of history, from Xinsas to Numelin, and from Numelin to the present day. Over the span of tens of thousands of years, several major wars have caused changes to the continents, burying countless ancient cities and Temple ruins beneath the earth.

Those past resurrection altars may still be functioning today, but the Holy Sanctuary within them is now just a scene of broken walls and ruins, and even grave dangers lurk inside.

With only five resurrection opportunities available, Invokers are naturally cautious in their choices.

However, not everyone is so prudent. Every year, countless reckless Invokers meet their second death due to haphazard selection of resurrection points. Having been a community influencer, Fang Hong has witnessed many such cases.

Fang doesn't know what to say to such fools, other than being speechless.

Still, the existence of a resurrection point down there aligns with Moenyalit's intentions, just as he had anticipated—

"...But since many people remaining here were originally workers from the mining area, they should be familiar with the situation down there before the Crystalysis Beast appeared, right?"

The walnut underground nodded again.

"But I've listened to them a lot, and regarding those Invokers with the 'Dark Aura,' they seem to have no knowledge of them either."

"So, Brother Ade, could it be that by the time the miners arrived, those people had already left?"

Fang Hong glanced at Miss Natural Historian, contemplating this possibility. But from the journal entries, the team from Burkeaso had been exploring the rift below for over five months.

After a moment, he asked, "Have the major guilds conducted any large-scale personnel rotations in the mining area during this period?"

"No way, Brother Ade," Tianlan finally pulled away from bickering with Parker, shaking her head vigorously and said, "This place isn't like the real world; most of those who come to mine are Invokers, and they have no need for rotation. Our guild... the Iris miners are almost like robots."

"But Grey Elder mentioned that those people appeared around half a year ago, and they certainly didn't leave immediately afterwards. Mr. Big Cat also said that the significant reduction in crystal vein output in the Nogness Region started about three months ago, which means they must have stayed for several months unless they have another way to leave, in which case they would definitely have interacted with the people down below."

Reed listened to Miss Natural Historian's soft voice, opened his mouth, and finally resigned himself with a sigh. Even Gita had learned this bad habit from these people; previously, she would never use such titles like Mr. Big Cat.

"So perhaps we are looking for the wrong people," Fang Hong replied, "After all, at its peak, this place must have had more than just a few people. It's unrealistic to find someone among the remaining few who happened to have seen or heard of those guys."

"What do we do next?" Tianlan asked, "The Grey Elder wants us to investigate those folks, and even though I suspect those people are likely our 'old acquaintances,' we have no clues at all right now."

"The most annoying thing is that those Tree People didn't clarify what the reward for this task was, leaving me with no motivation." Parker kicked a pebble far into the river, making a plop sound.

Fang Hong glanced at the Lion Paladin, "Let's take it one step at a time. If the opportunity arises, I'm actually quite interested in what happened there."

But the premise is that there must be an opportunity; he wouldn't let the Seven Seas Travel Group rashly send people to their deaths.

And what the walnut underground brought back was far more than just this news—

The reason Invokers are currently so proactive is because the Grey Treants offered generous rewards. As indicated by the walnut, Zaozi took out a leaf glowing with a vibrant green light from under his cloak.

"What is this?"

"Leaf of the Elder Tree," the walnut underground replied, "this is the reward offered by the Tree People, Mr. Ade, you should have heard of the Wisdom Potion, right?"

Fang Hong nodded, knowing that the so-called Wisdom Potion is actually just another name for the Experience Potion.

Not only had he heard of it, he had even consumed some. In fact, most members of the Seven Seas Travel Group had used Experience Potions to some extent, initially provided by the military while stationed at the Elfendo Council, aiding Luo Hao, Tang Xin, and others in leveling up quickly. Since technically, the three of them were part of the military, this wasn't considered a violation.

Later on, after making a fortune in Istania, they acquired more in Quistack, raising the entire team's level significantly. The Seven Seas Travel Group owes its current levels to these two 'boosting' experiences.

Though the Experience Potion does imply a bit of forcing growth, the positive benefits almost always outweigh the negative impact. Unfortunately, most Experience Potions on the market are one-time use, making it essentially impossible to rely solely on them for leveling up.
