Chapter 244: Substantive Relationship

As he hesitated, wondering which way to go, Shen Mingyue’s drunken voice came through the phone.

"Young Master Zhang, you think I don’t have connections here in the presidential suite of the Kawei Grand Hotel? I’m warning you—don’t push your luck, or I won’t let you off!"

Chen Qingdi knew of the Kawei Grand Hotel; it was a landmark in Jinghai. The presidential suite, he recalled, should be on the sixty-ninth floor.

He knew the situation was urgent and that he had to get there immediately. With a single phone call, he summoned a helicopter. It lifted him into the sky and, a short while later, landed on the rooftop of the Kawei Hotel.

The general manager of the Kawei Hotel was already waiting there. He told Chen Qingdi that President Shen was trapped in the presidential suite by a certain Young Master Zhang from the Capital City.

"My people are doing their best to stall Young Master Zhang. Miss Shen hasn’t been assaulted, but she’s been forced to drink and is completely drunk! It also seems that bastard drugged her."

Hearing this, Chen Qingdi was filled with righteous fury. He swiftly descended from the rooftop with them to the sixty-ninth floor. After getting the key, he unlocked the door to the presidential suite.

Just then, they heard Young Master Zhang’s voice, thick with a sinister laugh.

"Shen Mingyue, you went to great lengths to find these helpers, but you still can’t escape my grasp. But then again... these helpers are beauties in their own right. Not bad at all. Still, I have to taste you before moving on to them!"

Hearing no response from Shen Mingyue, Chen Qingdi’s heart sank. He burst into the room to see a well-built young man about to force himself on the unconscious Shen Mingyue.

Chen Qingdi turned his head to the manager beside him. "Manager Liu, if I throw this piece of trash out the window, it won’t cause you any trouble, will it?"

Manager Liu replied nonchalantly, "There are people waiting on the ground floor. The second this guy hits the pavement, he’ll be whisked away for cremation. There won’t even be a bloodstain left behind."

As soon as the words were out, Chen Qingdi hauled Young Master Zhang to his feet. Without a second thought about his background, he opened the window and tossed him out.

He then went to check on Shen Mingyue, who suddenly threw her arms around him and held on tight.

"Chen Qingdi, don’t leave me. I’m so hot!"

The female manager, understanding the situation perfectly, tactfully ordered her staff to escort the others out. Then, she had the cameras turned off, exited the presidential suite herself, and locked the door from the outside.

Chen Qingdi wanted to get his acupuncture kit to detoxify her, but Shen Mingyue gave him no opportunity. A moment later, they were baring themselves to one another.

If it had been a strange woman, Chen Qingdi would have considered the implications and done his best to push her away. But this was his fiancée. Their relationship had always been strong, and they were already at the point of discussing marriage.

’She’ll be mine sooner or later, anyway.’ He felt no guilt. And so, he simply went with the flow, letting nature take its course.

After a wild night, the next day arrived in a flash.

Chen Qingdi was jolted awake by a scream. He opened his eyes to see a pair of delicate fists hammering down on him mercilessly.

"Pervert! I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you! You’ve ruined me! I don’t want to live anymore, so let’s just die together!"

Shen Mingyue seemed to have descended into a frenzy. Without even looking to see who was with her, she started dragging him toward the window.

Chen Qingdi shouted, "Mingyue, it’s me, your husband."

Mingyue opened her eyes to take a closer look, and only then did she see that it was Chen Qingdi.

"Your face... how is it back to normal? I’ve failed you!"

Chen Qingdi held her close.

"That bastard never got his hands on you. I already dealt with him. It’s been me here with you the whole time."

Only then did Mingyue relax.

"Husband, how did you get here so quickly?"

Chen Qingdi told her, "I had just gotten back from an inspection out of town when I heard what was happening to you. I rushed over as fast as I could. Luckily, the hotel manager’s staff were there to help, so that scoundrel didn’t get a chance to do anything to you."

Mingyue lay shyly in Chen Qingdi’s arms, tacitly allowing his affectionate caresses.

"And that scoundrel? We can’t just let him off easy!"

In truth, the moment that scoundrel was thrown from the window, his fate was sealed. But Chen Qingdi didn’t want his wife-to-be to know about the murder, so he just reassured her.

"I’ve already dealt with him properly. It won’t affect you. Just think of it as a bad dream. We haven’t checked out yet, have we? If we don’t check out by ten, they’ll charge us for another day. Should we go home or stay here?"

Shen Mingyue thought for a moment. "Let’s just go home for now."

Chen Qingdi called the front desk and summoned the female manager.

When Manager Li saw Shen Mingyue, who was now so radiant she could make flowers wilt in shame, she knew the two had sealed the deal. With a knowing look, she said to them,

"Congratulations on your blissful union!"

Blushing, Shen Mingyue thanked the manager. "Thank you for your help, Manager!"

After Chen Qingdi settled the bill, he and Shen Mingyue boarded the helicopter and flew directly back to her villa.

Their arrival completely shocked the maid at the villa.

"Young Master, you’re not dead?!"

Chen Qingdi smiled. "Back then, I was in a perilous situation. I was afraid my enemies would come after you, so I faked my death to deceive them. There’s no need for that anymore. The enemies are dead, so I’ve decided to show myself."

"As long as you’re not dead, that’s all that matters!"

The maid was overjoyed and eagerly went to make breakfast for Chen Qingdi.

He watched as Shen Mingyue, who was headed for Zhu Village, changed into a business suit.

Feeling reluctant to let her leave, he wrapped his arms around her slender waist from behind.

"Honey, why don’t you stay? We haven’t seen each other in so long. Just stay home and rest."

Remembering how he had carried her through the door just moments ago, Shen Mingyue found she was also reluctant to leave so soon. She called her secretary’s office and told them she wouldn’t be coming in today and to contact her by phone if needed.

Now that their relationship had taken such a huge leap forward, they sat together with a new, easy intimacy.

Seeing them like this, the maid smiled and said, "Congratulations, Young Master, Miss."

As they ate, Chen Qingdi asked Shen Mingyue, "Has anyone been by to cause trouble recently?"

Shen Mingyue shook her head. "No trouble, really. It’s just that Mrs. Wen keeps coming by to ask when you’ll be back."

Chen Qingdi nodded. "Honey, my Yuding Mountain Villa is still missing a mistress. Why don’t you move in with me?"

Shen Mingyue said with a faint, unreadable smile.

"You have three or four ’close female friends’ over there, don’t you? Are you sure they won’t eat me alive?"

In reality, the beautiful women at the villa were indeed all interested in Chen Qingdi. It was just that he had been too busy lately to pursue anything in that direction.

Chen Qingdi chuckled and said, "Don’t worry about it. You’re the main wife. You should be magnanimous. They can’t usurp your position."

Shen Mingyue sighed.

"Now isn’t the right time. Let’s talk about it again when we’re officially married."

The two of them were inseparable all day. As evening fell, Chen Qingdi was eager to enter Shen Mingyue’s chambers, but she suggested, "Why don’t we go up to the rooftop for a bit?"

Chen Qingdi said, "I’m afraid."

Mingyue was baffled. "What are you afraid of?"

Chen Qingdi smiled. "As the old poem goes: ’Everyone says the evening air is cool and fine, but with a bright Moon—Mingyue—in the sky, I fear to climb the tower.’"
