Chapter 955 - 916: Firearms vs. Cold Weapons

As soon as Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji, leading the cavalry, charged at Zhao Rong and his group,

Zhao Rong and his assistant immediately took up a defensive formation,

holding Gatling machine guns and unleashing a barrage of wild shots.

Zhao Rong and his assistant formed a crossfire,

while shooting at the cavalry charging towards them, they conversed:

"Assistant, when you fire the machine gun, just aim at those horsemen,

but whatever you do, don’t kill Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji..."

The assistant, puzzled, asked:

"Brother Zhao Rong, why don’t we just finish off these two culprits..."

Zhao Rong told the assistant, saying:

"Assistant, you’re such a blockhead,

if you kill Li Yuanji and Li Jiancheng,

wouldn’t that cause alternate historical scenarios to arise?"

The assistant thought for a moment, then said:

"I recall the history books saying Li Shimin shot his brother Li Yuanji with a bow,

and then Yu Chigong cut down Li Jiancheng with a broadsword...

Alright, let’s just aim at the cavalry, leave Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji as isolated commanders..."

Soon, Zhao Rong and his assistant, wielding the Gatling machine guns, with crossfire, wiped out the 2,000 cavalry led by Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji in a frantic shootout.

Meanwhile, as Li Shimin and his team of ten saw the might of Zhao Rong’s group of five,

they couldn’t believe it, saying:

"It’s impossible, what kinds of weapons are these two wielding,

how did they defeat 2,000 cavalry,

this simply should not be possible..."

Miss Lili, standing nearby, said to Li Shimin:

"Li Shimin, you shouldn’t be surprised,

for you belong to a time of cold weapons,

while Brother Zhao Rong comes from an era of firearms,

people from the era of gunpowder dealing with those from the cold weapon era, is truly a massacre..."

Yu Lan said to Li Shimin:

"Li Shimin, Brother Zhao Rong has already reduced Li Yuanji and Li Jiancheng to isolated commanders,

now see how to deal with these two rebels..."

Xuelian straightforwardly advised Li Shimin and Yu Chigong, saying:

"Li Shimin, according to history, you used a bow to shoot Li Yuanji,

and Yu Chigong cut down Li Jiancheng,

so now, follow the historical records and act..."

Assistant, further encouraging, said on the side:

"Go Li Shimin! Go Li Shimin!"

When Li Yuanji and Li Jiancheng saw their 2,000 cavalry were wiped out by Zhao Rong and his assistant in just under a minute,

they were in disbelief, saying:

"How did this happen?

Is history truly inexorable?

We came ambushed with 2,000 cavalry,

how did these two with such strange weapons wipe out my carefully trained 2,000?"

Zhao Rong laid down his Gatling machine gun, then shouted at Li Jiancheng:

"Li Jiancheng, do not defy history’s mission,

for it’s written that you failed,

your brother Li Shimin succeeded,

so prepare yourself for death,

and harbor no resentment,

as this is history’s path,

as this is destiny..."

The assistant further advised Li Jiancheng, saying:

"Li Jiancheng, abandon resistance,

for your days are numbered..."

Before Zhao Rong and his assistant could finish talking,

Li Jiancheng immediately pulled out a longsword from his waist,

brandishing it madly, he said:

"No matter how history is recorded, I, Li Jiancheng, must become the emperor of the Tang Dynasty,

so now, I’ll charge through and eliminate all of you..."

As Li Jiancheng, wielding a longsword, charged towards Li Shimin’s group of ten,

Zhao Rong on the side quickly reminded Li Shimin, saying:

"Li Shimin, quickly raise your bow and resist,

or else Li Jiancheng will charge over and cut off your head..."

Listening to Zhao Rong, Li Shimin immediately drew a bow from his waist,

aiming at Li Jiancheng nearby.

But at the instant Li Shimin released the arrow, the assistant suddenly realized that the history books recorded Li Shimin shot his brother Li Yuanji, not Li Jiancheng,

and he promptly reminded Li Shimin, saying:

"Li Shimin, put down your bow,

for you are supposed to eliminate Li Yuanji,

not Li Jiancheng..."

However, before the assistant could finish, Li Shimin shot at Li Jiancheng with his bow.

And when Miss Lili saw Li Shimin aiming at Li Jiancheng,

she exclaimed, saying:

"Oh no, our presence is altering history,

since Li Shimin now is shooting Li Jiancheng instead of Li Yuanji..."

Yu Lan was equally worried, saying:

"What shall we do, history cannot change,

if Li Shimin’s shot kills Li Jiancheng,

there will be significant discrepancies in the history books..."

But as everyone worried,

Li Shimin’s arrow skills turned out to be awful,

even at close range, as he shot the arrow, it flew wildly away.

Everyone sighed in relief on seeing Li Shimin’s arrow miss Li Jiancheng.

Zhao Rong let out a long sigh, saying:

"Luckily, Li Shimin’s shooting is terrible, missing Li Jiancheng at such close range,

or else history books would indeed change..."

But before Zhao Rong could finish, she was shocked to see Li Shimin’s arrow, having flown up, landed and hit the fleeing Li Yuanji.

Witnessing this, Zhao Rong was stunned,

unable to believe, she said:

"Oh my, history is history,

it seems that even a wild shot by Li Shimin can kill Li Yuanji, that is destiny..."

When Li Shimin saw that his random shot had killed his brother Li Yuanji,

he was astonished, saying:

"Trying so hard yet getting no result, while unintended actions succeed,

Though I aimed at my brother Li Jiancheng,

unexpectedly ended up killing my brother Li Yuanji,

it is quite unexpected indeed..."

Before Li Shimin could finish talking, Li Jiancheng, with a longsword, rushed before him...

Seeing Li Jiancheng about to strike Li Shimin fatally,

Zhao Rong urgently cried out to Li Shimin, saying:

"Li Shimin, can’t you see that Li Jiancheng is already upon you, on horseback,

about to cut you down with a sword, yet you’re not dodging..."

Yet before Zhao Rong finished, in an instant, Yu Chigong rushed over, cutting down Li Jiancheng from his horse...
