Chapter 1625: Chapter 1622 Firefly
Only the Third Prince, King Qi, and the Fourth Prince, Prince Rong.
Besides them, other Imperial Kins and Nobles are also on the list of candidates.
For a while, the capital became lively.
The hour was late; when the palace banquet ended, Ye Muyu had eaten quite a few pastries and wasn’t hungry at all. Leaning against Ah Heng in the carriage on their way back, she lay languidly, with a cushion propped up behind her back, feeling significantly more comfortable.
Sitting cross-legged in the palace without any support behind her, for over an hour was quite tiring for her.
Chu Heng reached out to massage her arm.
“Ah Heng, who do you think Princess Weisaiya will be married to?” At the banquet, Princess Weisaiya performed a dance. It was evident that the princess was still young and had a straightforwardness that Great Chu girls lacked. Moreover, her martial skills were impressive; she wielded the whip quite well.
She initially assumed that the princess had a domineering temperament, but that wasn’t the case at all.
“I don’t know.” Chu Heng, for once, didn’t have a definite answer. “We’ll have to see the reactions of the Imperial Kins and Nobles next; however, I noticed that most are unwilling to marry a foreign princess, though we can’t rule out the Emperor’s possibility of granting a marriage.”
“Furthermore, if one aims for higher status, any prince who brings this princess into the Imperial Harem would find it an advantageous move after weighing the pros and cons.”
Ye Muyu immediately thought of Li Chongjin.
With a soft sigh, she said, “Chongjin, that child – he was always so sensible when young, and now in the blink of an eye, he’s grown up. Born into the Imperial Family, there’s never as much freedom.”
When she thought of Li Chongjin possibly surrounded by numerous women in the harem and potentially embroiled in conflicts, she felt helpless.
Chu Heng’s kneading was just right, and Ye Muyu was almost drifting into sleep.
She didn’t notice the unusual reaction from her daughter upon hearing that name.
Chu Heng laid her head upon his arm, softly saying, “If you feel like sleeping, go ahead; these things are never certain. It’s not worth worrying.”
“…Okay.” Ye Muyu, always easy-going by nature, did not make things difficult for herself after hearing this. Resting against his shoulder, she closed her eyes and truly fell asleep.
As the carriage traveled back to the residence, the streets still bustled with activity.
Amidst the liveliness, the carriage returned outside the residence.
Chu Heng didn’t wake her but carried her directly inside.
Chu Ziluo watched from behind, blushing slightly, as she looked up toward the distant sky, where fiery-red Kongming lanterns floated up.
Just as they arrived halfway toward the courtyard, a faint sound was heard.
Chu Ziluo looked up at the large tree outside the residence.
A series of weak fireflies appeared around the tree, seeming like natural fireworks.
“Young miss, what’s the matter?” said Nenya upon noticing Chu Ziluo had stopped moving. Curiously glancing around, she saw the fireflies around the tree, let out a surprised sound, and tugged at Chu Ziluo’s sleeve: “Ah, young miss, you must look; there are so many fireflies.”
The other maidservants followed her gaze, and it became quite lively in an instant.
Chu Ziluo smiled, “Why would there be fireflies now?”
During winter, fireflies can’t survive. Chu Ziluo suddenly realized this.
On instinct, she walked toward the large tree, the maidservants quickly following.
“Young miss,” Nenya caught up, curious, “Should I bring a ladder over so you can take a closer look?”
“Can I?” Chu Ziluo was always obedient and wouldn’t do something inappropriate for her status.
