Chapter 1231: Chapter 1228: Delivering a Letter
Ye Muyu nodded, “Have you received any news of Ah Heng?”
She believed Ah Heng must have had some plans, but after waiting for three or four days without news, Ye Muyu felt somewhat anxious.
She could only hope that the grain she had arranged would be sent over soon and at least make up for some of it.
“News just came from the court, saying that the grain escorted by Fu Ming went smoothly.”
“But it’s still half a month away from the Northern Region, and the issues with the grain Chu Heng was escorting, although it hasn’t affected the wartimes in the Northern Region yet, warfare always relies on a steady grain supply first. If it weren’t for the reserves in the Northern Region, they wouldn’t last over two months.”
“Duke Zheng in the court demanded that Chu Heng be dealt with.” Lu Sangqi saw her furrowed brows and worried expression.
Seeing her so anxious over Chu Heng, he sneered, “When Chu Heng chose to take on this task, he knew this would happen, delivering the leverage straight into Duke Zheng’s hands. How could the other party possibly be kind and sparing?”
Ye Muyu didn’t like him speaking ill of Chu Heng.
She explained, “He did it for the soldiers, for Great Chu.”
“But wasn’t he already targeted by others? He went anyway and got outplayed just the same, still unable to help the soldiers, right?” Lu Sangqi said with a sarcastic smile.
“But how do you know that if he hadn’t gone, the grain supply wouldn’t have been compromised?” Ye Muyu argued with a bit of anger, standing her ground, “On the contrary, since Ah Heng went, Fu Ming’s convoy managed to deliver the grain smoothly.”
“Everyone focused on dealing with Ah Heng, and Fu Ming was left safe and sound. Even if it’s because Fu Ming is Duke Zheng’s man, the beneficiaries are still the soldiers on the border. With sufficient grain, they can concentrate on facing the enemy.”
“As for Ah Heng, he will certainly turn the tables.” Ye Muyu said with determination, praying in her heart that Ah Heng would be safe.
Lu Sangqi looked at her for a while, then set aside the pulse pillow, “You’ve changed.”
“You didn’t use to trust Chu Heng so much before.”
“Not just Ah Heng, I trust you too. You’re like my brother, I know you will become a great doctor.” Ye Muyu understood his nature; even after so many years of acquaintance, his pride would sometimes show.
She decided not to hold it against him for always targeting Chu Heng.
“If you have any news, tell me at once,” Ye Muyu requested.
“After you said all that, what could possibly happen to him.” Lu Sangqi deflated, “I understand now; in your heart, Chu Heng is the best.”
“He asked me for medicine, he should be fine.”
“Oh right, the matter of the residence seeking a doctor, I’m afraid it can’t be kept secret.”
After dropping that line, Lu Sangqi left before she could ask more, running off ahead.
Ye Muyu’s worried heart relaxed a little.
“Mother, we still have salted duck eggs at home, they are really oily and delicious, you must try some.” Chu Ziluo came over with a plate of salted duck eggs.
Ye Muyu had a few bites, her appetite opened up, and it was good with porridge.
Seeing her able to eat, Chu Ziluo was relieved. After she finished eating, she personally took away the dishes and cutlery.
When she entered the room again, she saw Ye Muyu getting out of bed.
“Mother, what do you need to do? Just call for me,” Chu Ziluo hurriedly stepped forward to support her.
Ye Muyu said, “I remembered writing a letter; your maternal grandparents still don’t know about Mother’s pregnancy.”
“Mother, didn’t grandmother say we shouldn’t leak the news?” Chu Ziluo was puzzled. “Also, what about father’s side, aren’t you going to send him one?”
Ye Muyu shook her head, “We need to send one.”
Initially, she had not planned to send a letter to Chu Heng, but Lu Sangqi’s reminder made her realize that someone with intentions might have already learned of her pregnancy.
It was strange how she had not anticipated this reason and casually hired a doctor; even with silver, it was impossible to keep it a secret.
