Chapter 371 : Keeping Promises part 2
"I intend to go to where Duke Remy is—in the central building," I said.
Duke Louis and Duchess Arnett looked startled upon hearing my words.
"You want to go to where Remy is?" Duchess Arnett asked.
"Are you going there to fight him?" Duke Louis asked.
"Yes, I want to go and fight him," I replied.
"Don't, Rid. Remy has transformed into a dangerous demon. Even the two of us could easily be defeated by him. We only survived our encounter with him because Her Majesty the Queen and Oliver arrived to save us. Right now, Oliver and Her Majesty are facing Remy. So, there is no need for you to go there, Rid. Let Her Majesty and Oliver handle him," Duke Louis said.
"I'm sorry, Uncle Louis, but I am still going to where Duke Remy is. I must catch up with Charles and Chloe, who have already gone there," I said.
Duke Louis and Duchess Arnett were shocked once again by my words. This time, it wasn't just the two of them; the people around us were startled as well.
"Prince Charles and Princess Chloe have gone to where Remy is?!" Duchess Arnett asked. "Yes, Aunt. I had previously defeated King Albert after he had transformed into a demon. Just as I defeated him, Charles and Chloe arrived. At first, they misunderstood the situation when they saw that I had killed King Albert—their father. However, once I explained things, they understood the situation: the King I had just defeated had turned into a demon, and the person likely responsible for that transformation was Duke Remy. That is what I told them."
"After hearing my explanation, they immediately rushed off to where Duke Remy was. I decided to go with them, but along the way, some interruptions forced me to ask Charles and Chloe to head to Duke Remy's location without me. I promised to catch up with them as soon as I had dealt with the trouble."
"And since there is nothing left for me to do here, I must go join them at Duke Remy's location right away. I’m sorry, Uncle Louis and Aunt Arlet; I know you forbade me from going for my own good, but I have to go," I said.
After saying that, I prepared to leave the place. Duke Louis and Duchess Arlet remained silent. Then, just as I was getting ready to depart, Irene suddenly approached and stopped me.
"Wait, Rid," Irene said.
I stopped immediately, abandoning my plan to leave right then.
"What is it, Irene?" I asked.
"I’m going with you to Duke Remy's place," Irene said.
I was slightly taken aback by her words, while Duke Louis and Duchess Arlet looked completely shocked.
"You want to go with Rid to Duke Remy's place? No, Irene. You mustn't go there," Duchess Arlet said. "What your mother said is true, Irene. That place is extremely dangerous because Master Remy has transformed into a menacing demon. Your mother and I were victims of his attacks; fortunately, we both survived. If you were to go to where Master Remy is, there is no telling what might happen to you," said Duke Louis.
"But Father, Mother..." Irene began.
But before she could finish, I cut her off.
"What Uncle Louis and Aunt Arlet said is true, Irene. The place where Duke Remy is currently located is extremely dangerous for you. I’m sorry, Irene, but I cannot take you there with me," I said.
Irene looked startled by my words.
"Rid, even you..." she said.
"I’m sorry, Irene. I might be able to heal your wounds if you were to get hurt there, but I don’t want to see you get hurt in the first place. That goes for everyone else, too; I don’t want anyone accompanying me to suffer any injuries. That is why I’ve decided to go there alone. I hope you understand, Irene," I said.
Irene fell silent after hearing this, but a moment later, she spoke again.
"Alright, Rid. If that’s how you feel, then I won’t go with you to see Duke Remy. But please, promise me one thing, Rid. Promise me you won’t die when you face Duke Remy," she said.
I smiled at her words and quickly replied.
"Don’t worry, I won’t die, Irene. I won’t die until I’ve made the dream I told you about a reality," I said.
Irene gave a faint smile in response.
"In that case, I can rest easy. You’d better head to Duke Remy’s location now to catch up with Prince Charles and Chloe, Rid," she said. "Right. Before that, Irene—instead of just staying here, you should go back and explore the labyrinth. It seems there are still some demons somewhere inside. There might also be people who need immediate rescue. So, it would be best for you to head back in. You can also ask the people here to help you search the maze, find others, or defeat the remaining demons," I said.
"Alright, I'll do that," Irene replied.
"In that case, I'll be going now. See you later, Irene," I said.
"See you later, Rid. Don't forget to be careful," Irene said.
"I will; you don't need to worry, Irene. Uncle Louis, Aunt Arlet—see you later," I said.
"See you later, Rid," said Duke Louis.
"See you later," said Duchess Arlet.
After that, I immediately dashed off along the path Irene and I had previously taken, heading toward the central building where Duke Remy was located.
Meanwhile, after Rid left, Duke Louis and Duchess Arlet approached Irene.
"I really wanted to stop Rid from going to see Lord Remy, but he was absolutely adamant about going there," said Duchess Arlet.
"Yes, I wanted to stop him too. I'm worried something might happen to him when he faces Lord Remy," said Duke Louis.
"Father, Mother, there's no need to worry. I'm sure Rid will be fine. I'm also confident that he can defeat Lord Remy," Irene said.
Just after Irene said that, she suddenly sensed something different in the air. It wasn't just her; Duke Louis, Duchess Arlet, and everyone else present felt it too. Something changed in the atmosphere; the air suddenly grew heavier than before. This increased heaviness made it difficult for some of the people present to breathe.
"This pressure resembles what Her Majesty usually exerts. But it feels different—it is far more intense than what Her Majesty typically displays!" Duke Louis exclaimed in shock.
"This pressure... don't tell me..." Irene said, startled.

Meanwhile, I continued making my way toward Duke Remy's location.
"I had only suspected that Lord Remy was the one behind all this—a suspicion Miss Karina and Miss Violetta shared. But after hearing what Uncle Louis and Aunt Arlet said, it is clear that Lord Remy is indeed the culprit. He launched an attack on the academy involving numerous demons, injuring people in the process. As the chairman of Elevrad here, I cannot simply stand by and let this happen. I have to stop him."
"Then, Lord Duke Remy might indeed be the one who did all this, but I have to confirm something with him. I have to confirm whether he was the one who destroyed Aston village and killed its residents or not. If he was indeed the one who destroyed Aston village and killed its residents, then it's time for me to keep my promise to them,"
"If it is true that you are the perpetrator, I will kill you with my own hands, Lord Duke Remy," I said.
