Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill

Chapter 505:Intervation

Volcanus saw them escape and something shifted in his expression. The fury that had been burning steadily in his eyes sharpened into something colder and more focused. He had unleashed a spell capable of erasing mountains and the human had walked out of it carrying his people on his back. That was not something Volcanus had anticipated and the fact of it sat badly with him.

He did not wait. He moved immediately and gave chase, his massive frame cutting through the air with purpose.

Ethan threw the group clear of the immediate area and turned around to close the distance again.

His mind was already calculating as he moved forward. That scale of attack, the sheer energy Volcanus had poured into the Primordial Conflagration, it had to have cost him something significant. No spell of that magnitude came without a price and Ethan had felt the drop in Volcanus’ aura pressure in the moments after the blast even through the chaos of escaping it.

“Such a scale of attack, I am sure, it weakened him. Now I can finish it now,” Ethan muttered under his breath, gripping the greatsword tightly as he pushed forward.

Volcanus saw him coming and the corner of his scaled mouth pulled into something that resembled a grin. It was not a warm expression. It was the kind of expression that belonged on something very old and very dangerous that had just decided it was done holding back.

“Come here human. I am going to grind you to dust.”

Ethan’s eyes burned aggressively as he closed in and then his feet almost left the ground for the wrong reason entirely. He pulled up short, eyes going wide as he registered what Volcanus was doing.

The dragon was gathering energy again. Not the slow ambient buildup of a body recovering but a deliberate and focused accumulation, dense and heavy and growing fast.

“What the fuck is this bullshit,” Ethan said flatly, his heart almost leaping out of his chest as he felt the sheer amount of energy Volcanus was pulling together.

He spun on his heel and was about to leap clear when the sky cracked apart.

CRUNGGGGGG!

A dense network of sparkling light split the sky open for a single violent instant and a concentrated beam of force came down with brutal precision, striking the ancient dragon dead center in the chest.

The impact did not simply stop Volcanus. It drove him backward with tremendous force, his body carving through the air before slamming into the mountain behind him. The peak collapsed inward on impact and an enormous cloud of dust and broken rock erupted outward as the mountain came apart around him.

Ethan turned and looked several miles ahead.

A portal hung open in the air, its edges still crackling with residual energy and through it walked a woman with purple hair, moving with complete composure, a staff held loosely in one hand. She stepped through as if she had simply opened a door and closed it behind her without breaking stride.

Ethan frowned, watching her and trying to determine whether she was a threat when her voice reached him, calm and certain.

“It is in self-destruction mode.”

Ethan’s eyes snapped toward Volcanus immediately.

“Roarrrr!”

Volcanus shrieked in pain as his battered body broke through what remained of the collapsed mountain. His descent was uncontrolled and heavy and there was no disguising it. He was falling and he could not stop it.

“Roar!”

A mournful dragon roar tore out of him as he crashed downward. It was obvious that today he was going to fall completely into the hands of this human and the realization of it had settled into his eyes as something close to desperation.

He did not know why this unfamiliar human had set a trap to hunt him down but even if he died here he was not going to let this human walk away easily. A trace of ruthlessness flashed in his eyes and without hesitation Volcanus activated his self-destruct mode, beginning to crush his own dragon crystal and divine fire with the intent of taking the human down with him in the explosion.

An extremely violent energy fluctuation erupted from Volcanus outward in all directions, like a nuclear warhead moments from detonation, saturated with a destructive aura that made the air itself feel unstable.

“The dragon wants to self-destruct,” Ethan said, his face changing drastically. If it actually succeeded then everything he had done up to this point would have been for nothing and the violent energy released would completely destroy the ancient dragon’s body in the process. That was a loss he could not accept.

Then a cold voice cut through the chaos.

“Celestial Gravity Seal.”

The spell hit Volcanus like something solid and physical, an immense invisible pressure slamming down onto him from above and driving him hard into the ground. The earth cracked beneath him in a wide radius as his body was pinned with crushing force.

Before he could push against it a chilling blast followed immediately afterward and exploded outward across his entire frame, frost spreading rapidly across his scales and locking his limbs in place.

“Finish him,” the woman said simply.

The words had barely landed before Ethan was already moving, greatsword dragging low behind him as he closed the distance in a straight line. The Chaos Sword Art activated and the blade lit up with a bright and violent glow, multiple energies coiling together along the edge in a tight spiral. He raised it as he ran and poured every remaining ounce of his strength into the strike.

The heart would have been easier but destroying the heart would mean destroying most of what made this kill valuable. The skull was the only option.

He thrust the greatsword forward with his full weight and power behind it and struck Volcanus directly in the skull. The blade cracked through the dense bone, driving deeper as it tore its way through, and then broke through entirely into the brain beneath, piercing and tearing through the tissue in the same motion.

Volcanus tried to move. He could not.

“Dieeeee!” Ethan roared and poured his entire aura into the sword. It coagulated along the blade for a fraction of a second and then detonated.

BOOOOOOM!

The force tore through the skull, breaking it apart as the blade drove deeper, piercing into the brain and destroying it completely.

The explosion echoed across the battlefield as Volcanus’ massive body went still.
