Chapter 492:Plunder.
Chapter 492:Plunder.
Pentos pushed open the door to his private chamber with a slightly tense expression. The earlier scolding still lingered in his mind, but he quickly forced those thoughts aside and stepped inside. The room was quiet, lit by soft lamps placed along the walls.
He walked toward the center and spoke firmly.
“Send them in.”
Within seconds, the door opened again.Several figures walked in silently.
Each of them wore full armor and helmets that completely covered their faces. Not a single inch of skin was visible. Their presence was cold and disciplined, and even their breathing could not be heard clearly.
They stopped a few steps away and bowed slightly.
Pentos did not waste time.
“I have a task for you,” he said while turning toward them.
But before he could continue something moved.
A faint ripple flashed in the air.
Then..
Swoosh!
A small, almost invisible mark shot forward and struck Pentos directly on the head.
His body froze.
“What—”
Before he could react further, a faint glow appeared around his head.
Swoosh!
A protective barrier suddenly formed.
It shimmered like a thin layer of light, wrapping around his soul instinctively. The defensive mechanism activated automatically, trying to block the intrusion.
But the Soul Stamp did not stop.
It pressed forward.
Crack…
A faint sound echoed.
The barrier trembled as the mark tried to force its way inside. At that moment, one of the armored figures moved.
A hand rose slowly and a dark golden flame ignited above the palm.
“Divine Soul Flame.”
The flame flickered quietly, but it carried a terrifying pressure.
Without hesitation, the guard directed the flame toward Pentos. The flame did not touch his body.
Instead, it directly targeted the barrier protecting his soul.
Hissss…
The moment the flame made contact, the barrier reacted violently.
Light and flame collided.
The protective layer struggled to hold, but the Divine Soul Flame began burning it steadily, weakening it from within.
Crack… crack…
Fine fractures spread across the barrier. The resistance weakened.
Then the Soul Stamp surged forward.
It tore through the broken defense and entered directly.
Pentos’ eyes widened. His body trembled violently.Inside his mind, the mark descended rapidly and branded itself onto his soul.
There was no escape. The process completed instantly.
His body went limp.
Thud.
He collapsed onto the ground, unconscious.
Silence filled the room.
The armored guards stood still for a moment.
Then one of them reached up and slowly removed his helmet.
It was Erhan
He wiped the sweat from his forehead and exhaled deeply.
“Damn… that was dangerous,” he muttered.
Another guard also removed his helmet slightly and spoke in a low voice.
“I didn’t know people had soul protection mechanisms like that.”
Rathlos nodded.
“You might not know, but most high-level people have them,” he said calmly.
“There is even a soul lamp that extinguishes if a person dies.”
He glanced down at Pentos.”So this is the best possible outcome.”
“Killing him would have caused us trouble.”
The room fell silent again.
But now everything has changed.
….
The night had already deepened when Ethan stood quietly in the shadowed corner of the chamber, his expression calm but his eyes sharp and focused.
The middle-aged mage, Marverick knelt before him with his head lowered, his earlier resistance completely gone. The Soul Stamp had already taken root, and his eyes now carried only obedience. Beside him stood the newly enslaved Pentos, his body stiff and his will no longer his own.
Ethan looked at them calmly.
“Stand.”
Pentos immediately rose without hesitation, followed by Marverick, both of them moving like puppets under command.
“Take us to the auction house storeroom,” Ethan said in a low voice.
“Yes, my Lord,” Pentos replied.
Without wasting another moment, both of them turned and began leading the way.
The corridors of the estate stretched long and quiet under dim lighting. Their footsteps echoed softly against the polished floor while they moved deeper into restricted areas. The path gradually became more guarded, and the walls carried faint inscriptions of protective runes that glowed slightly as they passed.
On the way, a few workers and attendants crossed paths with them.
They paused for a moment when they saw Pentos walking ahead with strangers behind him. Their eyes showed confusion, and some of them slowed down as if wanting to ask something.
Ethan’s gaze flickered slightly.
“Act normal,” he said calmly.
The next moment, Pentos’ expression changed instantly.
“What are you watching, shit head?” he snapped sharply, his voice loud and aggressive.
“Stop wasting time and do your work!”
His sudden outburst startled the workers. They quickly lowered their heads and hurried away, not daring to question anything further.
The group continued moving forward.
After a few more turns, they reached a heavily guarded section of the estate. The air here felt heavier, and even the silence carried pressure.
At the end of the corridor stood a massive metal door engraved with complex magical patterns. Faint pulses of mana flowed across its surface, and the runes shimmered slightly as if alive.
Pentos stepped forward.
As he approached, a glowing magic circle appeared in front of the door. It expanded slowly and began scanning him.
Light passed over his body from head to toe, confirming his identity.
After a brief moment..
Click.
The mechanism unlocked.
The huge doorway slowly opened with a deep rumbling sound, and a faint golden glow spilled out from inside.
Ethan stepped in first.
The sight inside made even Rathlos pause slightly. The storeroom was enormous.
Rows upon rows of shelves stretched across the hall, filled with treasures. Crystals, weapons, scrolls, rare metals, and sealed artifacts were arranged neatly, each one radiating its own unique aura.
Some items glowed faintly with magical energy, while others were sealed inside transparent cases that shimmered with protective barriers.
Large chests filled with gold coins were stacked in one corner, and piles of gemstones reflected light in dazzling colors.
Ethan’s lips curved slightly.
“Plunder,” he said calmly.
