Chapter 482:The Auction House
Chapter 482:The Auction House
Ethan quickly found a luxurious tavern located near the central district of Margrave City. The place was clearly designed for nobles and wealthy merchants. The interior was decorated with polished wood, soft carpets, and golden lamps that gave off a warm glow.
After settling in, Ethan began asking around about the auction.
He soon learned that there were still fifteen days left before the large auction would begin.
That meant he had time to spare.
For the next two weeks, Ethan did not rush anything. It was a rare vacation so he should enjoy it a bit.
Instead, he spent his days exploring the city.
Every morning he would go out and walk through different parts of Margrave City. He tasted various kinds of food, some simple and others extremely exotic. He observed the customs of the people, watched street performers, and occasionally visited markets that sold rare items.
Rathlos followed him most of the time, quietly observing and sometimes explaining things about the city.
The days passed quickly.
Before Ethan even realized it, the day of the large auction had arrived.
This auction was organized by the top Merchant Association in the Arcadia Empire, and it was said to be backed by several hidden families. Because of that, the scale of the event was massive.
The venue was located in the center of the city.
Florita Auction House.
The event was scheduled to begin at noon.
At ten o’clock in the morning, after finishing breakfast, Ethan and Rathlos immediately set out toward the auction house.
When they arrived, the building stood tall and grand before them.
The entrance was wide and decorated with marble pillars and golden engravings. Carriages and noble guests were already arriving one after another.
Ethan walked forward calmly.
Just as he reached the entrance, two guards stepped forward and blocked his path.
Both of them were at King level.
“Sir, may I ask if you have any important business?” one of them asked politely.
Ethan understood immediately.
Not everyone was allowed inside.
Many people might know his name, but they would not recognize his face.
“I am here to participate in the large auction,” Ethan replied calmly and gave the pass.
At that moment, a female attendant noticed him and quickly walked over with a professional smile.
“To participate in this auction, you need to pass the qualification check,” she explained politely.
Apparently, there had been cases of VIP passes being stolen and that allowed petty people to enter so that they needed to do a background check.
“Either by having more than one hundred million gold coins or by holding an imperial noble status.”
Ethan was not surprised.
Such high level auctions always had strict requirements. Otherwise anyone could enter and create trouble, which would cause huge losses.
Without hesitation, Ethan took out his identity scroll.
It was a magic document signed by the Emperor and the Imperial Nobility Council.
The moment he revealed it, several nearby people turned their heads and glanced at him curiously.
The scroll carried a faint magical aura.
It was impossible to forge.
The female attendant’s eyes widened slightly the moment she saw it.
“Marquise… Blanks…”
Her heart skipped a beat. She quickly bowed her head.
“Can I participate in the large auction now?” Ethan asked calmly.
“Yes, of course you can,” she replied immediately.
She then glanced toward Rathlos.
“And this gentleman?”
“I am his butler,” Rathlos said calmly.
“Oh… Sir, please come in.”
Under her guidance, Ethan and Rathlos entered the auction house.
Inside, the interior was even more magnificent.
The hall was vast, with rows of seats arranged below and several private rooms built along the upper levels.
Because of Ethan’s noble status as a Marquise, the auction organizers quickly arranged a top independent private room for him.
His reputation also played a role.
Many nobles had heard about his unique designs and influence, especially among noblewomen.
As Ethan walked through the hall toward the private section, several noble ladies sitting nearby glanced at him with interest.
Some of them whispered quietly.
A few even tried to approach him with polite smiles.
However, Ethan simply greeted them calmly and moved forward without stopping.
The process was slightly cumbersome, but he handled it smoothly.
Eventually, he entered his private chamber.
The room was spacious and elegantly decorated. A wide glass window allowed a clear view of the auction stage below.
Several beautiful waitresses stood inside, waiting to serve.
One of them stepped forward and bowed slightly.
“Your Highness… these are exclusive attendants prepared to serve our guests. You may choose any one of them, or even all of them.”
Ethan narrowed his eyes slightly. He glanced at the waitresses, then at Rathlos.
Rathlos also looked slightly uncomfortable.
‘Aren’t they showing a bit too much hospitality…’ Ethan thought.
He shook his head.
“No need for that. Just leave one person to assist. I will call if I need anything.”
He didn’t have a habit of playing with wildflowers.
The attendant nodded respectfully.
“Understood.”
She left behind a small device that could be used to call for service and then dismissed the others.
Ethan sat down calmly and picked up a cup of tea.The tea was rich in aroma and clearly of high quality.
He took a small sip while looking down at the auction hall.
As time passed, more and more people gathered below.
Since the auction had not yet started, the guests began talking among themselves.
Some discussed rare items, some spoke about recent events, and others simply exchanged greetings.
The hall gradually became noisy.
Ethan leaned back slightly in his seat, calmly waiting for the auction to begin.
…
Deep inside the Florita Auction House, far away from the noisy hall filled with guests and attendants, there existed a restricted chamber that very few people were allowed to enter.
The room was dimly lit.
Heavy curtains covered the walls and blocked any outside light, while a large table stood at the center surrounded by several figures dressed in expensive robes.
These were not ordinary people.
They were among the true controllers behind the auction house.
A guard hurried inside and bowed deeply.
“My lords, we have received a report.”
One of the men sitting at the table did not even look up.
“Speak.”
The guard swallowed slightly before continuing.
“Marquise Ethan of Blanks has arrived and entered the auction hall.”
The moment those words were spoken, the room fell silent.
Several of the figures slowly lifted their heads.
One of them frowned.
“What?”
Another leaned forward slightly, his eyes narrowing.
“From where did he get the pass?”
