Chapter 480:To The Auction
Chapter 480:To The Auction
Ethan spent the next few days inside the chamber after the breakthrough, quietly savoring the new strength flowing through his body.
His breathing had already stabilized and the violent energy that had earlier shaken the entire chamber had now settled into a calm and steady presence.
A faint smile remained on his face.
Breaking through into the Mythic realm felt far more satisfying than he had expected.
Finally he stood up, brushed the dust from his clothes, and slowly walked out of the stone chamber.
The moment he stepped back into the corridor of the room, several servants and guards immediately straightened their posture and greeted him respectfully. Ethan simply nodded while continuing toward the main Mansion.
However, the moment he entered the room where Rina and Amber were sitting, he stopped abruptly.
His eyes widened.
“Woaaah!”
He walked closer to the table and stared at several elegant cards lying neatly in front of them.
“What’s this?” he asked with surprise.
Rina leaned back slightly in her chair and crossed her arms.
“It’s the passes to the VIP Auction held by the Merchant Association and those big groups,” she answered calmly.
Ethan frowned immediately.
“I am already a Marquise. So why didn’t I get this before?” he asked while picking up one of the cards.
“Isn’t that a blatant disrespect?”
Amber could not help laughing softly when she heard that.
“Do you really think those people from Arcadia respect you?” she said while leaning against the chair with a playful smile.
“It’s not just about money. It is also about status.”
Ethan looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
But before he could say anything, Rina shook her head slightly.
“No, no. Sister Amber is a bit off about that,” she said calmly.
“This auction is quite secretive. Even many nobles do not know about it.”
She tapped the table lightly.
“You need strong connections to even hear about it.”
Ethan nodded slowly after hearing that.
“That makes more sense.”
He then picked up the envelope lying beside the passes and tore it open.
A letter slid out.He began reading it carefully.
One month later, the capital city of the Duchy of Margrave would hold a massive auction organized by the Merchant Association.
And among the items listed for saleā¦
One kilogram of Star Dust Essence.
Ethan’s eyes immediately lit up.
Upon receiving this message sent by Duke Lancelot, Ethan felt a surge of excitement rising in his chest.
If he could win the Star Dust Essence at the auction, then he would finally obtain the primary material required for forging the sword.
He absolutely had to attend this auction.
However, before going there, he needed to prepare one very important thing.
Money.
A huge amount of money.
After all, even a small amount of Star Dust Essence already cost several million gold coins. At an auction where powerful nobles and merchant families competed, the price would only rise higher and higher.
Having more gold prepared would naturally increase his chances of winning the item.
Without hesitation Ethan gathered almost all the gold coin reserves accumulated by the Blanks family over the past several decades.
Even that alone was already an enormous amount.
But then another surprise arrived.
Duke Lancelot personally sent him a loan.
Two hundred million gold coins.
When Ethan saw the amount written on the check, he nearly choked.
“What the hell?”
“I didn’t know they were this wealthy.”
Rina rolled her eyes slightly when she heard that.
“What did you expect? He is a Provincial Duke, not some random Duke from a small barony.”
After hearing that explanation, Ethan slowly nodded.
It made sense.
After all, the Blanks estate itself earned nearly fifty million gold coins every year from taxes alone.
When he finished calculating everything, Ethan realized that he had gathered an enormous amount of money.
However, carrying such a huge quantity of gold physically would be impossible.
Fortunately there was another solution.
As a noble lord, he could issue a signed check backed by his own territory as a guarantee. The payment could then be completed later in installments.
This was one of the privileges of being an Imperial noble.
And if someone dared to default on such payments, the Imperial Authority itself would intervene and make sure every last coin was recovered.
Ethan finished preparing everything. Finally he walked toward the fortress stables.
There he selected one of the awakened war horses kept for long distance travel.
The powerful creature could run nearly three hundred kilometers per hour, almost like a moving bullet train across the plains.
This time Ethan decided not to bring a large escort.Only one person would accompany him.
Rathlos.
He had originally considered bringing more people, but after thinking about it carefully he dismissed the idea.
At a gathering where powerful nobles and influential merchants gathered, ordinary guards would be useless.
They would be nothing more than fodder.
Ethan, on the other hand, was completely confident in his own strength.
Traveling alone with Rathlos was more than enough.
Early the next morning, the two of them prepared their horses and left the fortress.
With the cold morning wind blowing across the plains, Ethan began the journey toward the capital of the Duchy of Margrave and the mysterious auction where the Star Dust Essence awaited.
The journey toward the capital of the Duchy of Margrave began early in the morning.
A cold wind moved across the vast plains while the sun slowly rose behind the distant mountains. The road stretching ahead of them cut through forests, frozen fields, and long open valleys that seemed to run endlessly toward the horizon.
Ethan rode at the front.
Beneath him the awakened war horse moved with powerful strides. The creature’s muscles rippled under its dark coat while faint mana lines glowed along its body. Every step covered an enormous distance, and the speed was so fast that the surrounding scenery blurred slightly.
Behind him, Rathlos followed calmly on another awakened mount.
The two of them traveled almost like streaks of shadows across the wide roads.
Several ordinary travelers who happened to see them passing could only stare in shock as the two riders disappeared into the distance within seconds.
