Chapter 452:The Terrifying Presence

Chapter 452:The Terrifying Presence

Below the cliff, the battlefield where thousands had died now looked strangely peaceful. Snow had already begun covering the craters and bloodstains left by the war. Broken weapons and shattered armor slowly disappeared under a thin white layer as the wind swept across the plains.

Ethan folded his arms and looked toward the dark horizon.

The war had only begun.

But something else was bothering him.

The presence of the assassin and the blessing of the Goddess of Darkness meant the conflict had already crossed beyond a simple border war.

Gods were watching.

That alone made the situation far more dangerous.

But more than that, Ethan frowned slightly and turned his gaze toward the towering mountains in the distance.

Those mountains were an uncharted territory. The land was wild and rarely explored by humans. Dense forests covered the slopes, and deep valleys stretched between jagged cliffs.

The region was known for one thing. It was filled with demonic beasts.

For many years, the Frontier had never been able to fully clear that area. Countless dangerous creatures lived there, and even experienced knights avoided entering too deeply.

Ethan stared quietly at the shadowy mountains.

The wind grew colder and brushed across his face.

“I don’t know why, but I am feeling a bit uneasy,” he murmured softly.

From where he stood, the mountains looked quiet, but something about them felt wrong. A strange and heavy presence seemed to linger there like a silent storm waiting to break.

The deeper he looked, the more uncomfortable his instincts became.

At that moment a thought suddenly appeared in his mind.

Ethan’s eyes narrowed slightly.

“What if the real reason the Emperor gave me this particular piece of land is because of the danger in the mountain while we mistook it as demon invasion?”

The idea settled heavily in his mind.

Until now everyone believed the demons were the main threat to the frontier. But what if the true danger had always been something else?

Ethan looked at the distant peaks again.Dark clouds drifted slowly above the frozen ridges.

He could not shake the thought away.

….

Far inside the frost mountains of Frostvele, deep within the endless ridges and valleys, a completely different world existed.

The mountain forest there was silent and lifeless.

Tall frozen trees stood like black spears against the sky, and thick layers of ice covered the ground. Mist moved slowly between the cliffs while the cold wind howled through narrow passages.

Yet the most frightening thing about the region was not the cold.

It was the aura.

A thick and deadly aura spread through the mountains like poison in the air. The presence alone was enough to make ordinary beasts collapse in fear.

Within the shadows of those mountains lived countless demonic beasts.

Some were enormous creatures with bodies larger than houses. Others moved silently through the darkness with glowing eyes that watched everything.

Their strength was terrifying.

Many of them possessed power comparable to powerful knights. Some even carried ancient bloodlines that gave them frightening abilities.

Yet despite their strength, none of them dared to approach the deepest part of the mountains.

The core region.

Even the strongest beasts avoided it.

That place carried a presence far more terrifying than anything else in the mountain.

On this night, however, something unusual happened.

From the shadows of a broken valley, a large creature slowly stepped forward.

Its body was covered with thick dark scales, and sharp horns curved backward from its skull. Each step crushed the frozen ground beneath its claws while ice cracked loudly under its weight.

Its eyes glowed with fierce hunger. This was a powerful demonic beast that ruled a wide area of the mountain.

As it began moving toward the deeper region, other beasts hiding nearby reacted immediately.

Several pairs of glowing eyes appeared between the frozen trees. Large shadows moved silently behind thick snow covered trunks while low growls echoed through the dark forest.

They watched the creature carefully.

Some of them released warning roars that rolled across the valley like distant thunder. The message was clear.

Do not go further.

But the beast ignored them.

It lifted its head proudly and let out a deep creaking roar that echoed through the mountains, displaying its superiority and dominance over the surrounding territory.

Then it continued forward.

The creature walked deeper into the frozen mountains while ignoring the silent warnings from the other beasts.

At first the environment remained cold and silent. Ice covered the ground and snow continued drifting slowly through the air.

But the deeper it moved, the more the surroundings began to change.

The air slowly became warmer.

Snow on the ground began melting into thin streams of water that flowed quietly along the rocks.

The creature paused briefly and lifted its head.

The temperature continued rising. Warm mist drifted through the narrow valley ahead, and the icy wind gradually disappeared.

Something powerful existed there.Even a beast as strong as this one could sense it.

Still, the creature continued forward cautiously.

It took another step.

And then another.

The frozen valley slowly turned into a strange place where steam rose from cracks in the ground and the rocks themselves felt warm to the touch.

But just as it prepared to step deeper into the core region a sudden wave of heat exploded outward.

BOOM!

A terrifying shockwave swept through the valley like a burning storm.

The force slammed directly into the beast’s body and threw it violently backward across the frozen ground.

Rocks shattered under the impact and snow exploded into the air like white dust.

The creature crashed against a cliff and let out a painful roar that echoed across the mountains.

Its powerful body trembled violently while fear suddenly appeared in its glowing eyes. Even so, the beast forced itself to stand again.

It raised its head and roared angrily toward the valley as if challenging the presence hidden deep inside.

But the response came immediately.

BOOOOM!

Another molten shockwave burst outward from the depths of the mountain.

This time the heat was far more terrifying. The air itself began to burn.

The rocks around the valley turned red and cracked under the unbearable temperature. Trees instantly caught fire while the ground itself seemed to melt.

The monstrous beast had no time to react.

The blazing shockwave struck its body directly.

In a single moment, its massive form was swallowed by flames and burning air. Its scales cracked and shattered while its flesh disintegrated under the extreme heat.

Within seconds, the powerful demonic beast was burned to ashes by the shockwave alone.

Silence returned to the valley.

Deep inside the mountain core, something terrifying slowly stirred.

A massive figure lay hidden beneath layers of molten rock and burning stone. Its body was drenched in liquid lava that flowed slowly across its scales.

The air around it shimmered with unbearable heat.

Then, slowly, the creature opened its eyes.

Its pupils were narrow and reptilian, glowing like burning embers in the darkness. The moment those eyes opened, the surrounding mountain trembled faintly as if responding to its presence.

The creature inhaled slowly.

Its nostrils flared and released a burst of black flame that rolled through the cavern like smoke.

After that brief moment of awakening, the massive figure slowly closed its eyes again. And the terrifying presence inside the frozen mountain once again fell into deep sleep.
