Chapter 450;Bounty
Chapter 450;Bounty
The name lingered in the air like poison.
A tall demon with long white hair tied behind his back narrowed his eyes slowly.
“That human again.”
Another voice echoed from the shadows near the back of the hall.
“He has already killed three legendary realm generals before. Now two more fall at Frostvele.”
“Five,” the white haired demon corrected coldly. His voice was calm, but the tension in it was clear. “Five legendary realm demons taken down by a single human.”
The atmosphere turned heavy.
One of the commanders clenched his fists so tightly that dark veins rose across his arms.
“Fuck him!”
“He is ruining our western advance.”
“First he interferes at the Frontier. Now Frostvele stands because of him.”
A low growl spread among them. Some began pacing in agitation, while others stared at the floor with burning eyes.
The white haired demon remained still, but his eyes burned with calculation.
“Five legendary realm demons,” he repeated slowly. “And a Belphegor unit destroyed.”
He looked around the chamber one by one.
“This is no longer a coincidence.”
Another commander spoke with restrained anger, forcing his voice to remain steady.
“Our scouts reported that he fought both Herios and Kiea simultaneously and crushed them. His elemental control is abnormal.”
“And he resisted divine interference,” another added grimly. “The assassin carried the blessing of Darkness.”
That detail caused several demons to exchange uneasy looks.
“So even that failed,” one muttered under his breath.
The white haired demon straightened.
“Then the conclusion is simple.”
All eyes turned toward him.
“Target.”
The word was spoken slowly and clearly.
“If we allow him to continue, our losses will multiply. Frostvele will become an unbreakable wall.”
Another demon nodded, though his expression was dark.
“He has become the pillar of that region.”
“And pillars must fall,” someone added quietly.
A heavy silence followed.
Then one of them asked, his voice lower now,
“What level of target?”
The white haired demon did not hesitate.
“Highest priority.”
The temperature inside the hall seemed to drop.
“We place a kill order on Count Ethan. Mobilize elite units. Request reinforcements from central command. If necessary, deploy higher tier forces.”
Another commander frowned slightly.
“That may attract attention.”
The white haired demon’s voice turned colder.
“It already has.”
He stepped forward slightly and looked down at the kneeling messenger.
“If we fail to eliminate him soon, morale among humans will surge while ours will crumble. He has already boosted their confidence.”
He turned his gaze back to the others.
“Spread the word carefully. Do not let panic spread. But internally, increase the bounty.”
One of the demons smirked darkly.
“Bounty hunters will crawl out of the abyss for such prey.”
The white haired demon’s gaze hardened.
“No… Not hunters.”
He paused briefly, and the torches seemed to dim around him.
“We must send our executioners.”
The decision settled heavily across the chamber.
Deep in the shadows, an ancient presence shifted faintly, as if observing silently.
Above ground, the wind howled across the barren cliffs.
….
Far away in Frostvele, celebration still continued.
The war report arrived in the late afternoon.
Ethan stood on the balcony of Frostvele Castle while cold wind moved across the snow covered plains. A communication crystal floated before him, projecting the message in clear light.
The army attempting to enter Ruthiana had been intercepted.
Lord Rake had personally led the defense.
Not only had he stopped the invasion, he had fought two Legendary Realm Demon Commanders and defeated them. Though he suffered injuries, he still stood victorious.
The demon forces retreated.
For the first time in days, Ethan allowed himself to breathe slowly.
“Truly a mighty figure,” he murmured.
Rake had proven himself worthy of Duke Lancelot’s bloodline.
The immediate pressure on Frostvele eased slightly.
But Ethan did not relax.
He knew too well that this was only the beginning.
Even the World War in his previous world had lasted six years, and that was with technology far beyond this era. Here, with magic, gods, and demon realms involved, he would not be surprised if this conflict lasted sixty years.
Stronger.
If he wanted to survive, he needed to become stronger.
That thought remained steady in his mind.
And so he quietly continued his own plan.
He trained, he refined his power, and he strengthened his bloodline.
Some of his wives wished to grow stronger and train alongside him. Others chose peace. Not everyone wanted to fight. Not everyone wanted to chase power. Some only wanted to enjoy the calm moments that came between storms.
Ethan did not force anyone.
But he continued forward in his own way.
While Frostvele stabilized and Ruthiana held firm under Lord Rake, far away in the capital of the Arcadia Empire, another storm was quietly forming.
Inside the imperial palace, a grand chamber bathed in golden light stood silent.
Massive pillars carved with ancient dragon patterns supported the high ceiling. Sunlight filtered through colored crystal windows, casting shifting patterns across the marble floor.
At the center of the hall sat the Arcadia Emperor.
He leaned slightly against the throne, one hand resting against the armrest. His expression was calm, but his eyes were sharp.
Several trusted aides stood below him.
One of them stepped forward carefully and bowed.
“Your Majesty.”
The Emperor glanced at him.
“Speak.”
The aide hesitated briefly before continuing.
“There is some problem regarding Count Ethan.”
The Emperor’s brows lifted slightly.
“Problem?”
His voice carried quiet authority.
“What problem?”
The aide lowered his head slightly.
“Your Majesty, it seems Count Ethan has drawn the ire of several noble families.”
The chamber grew still.
The Emperor’s fingers tapped lightly against the throne.
“Elaborate.”
Another aide stepped forward and spoke in a measured tone.
“Since the victory at Frostvele, his reputation has soared. He eliminated multiple Legendary Realm Demon Commanders. His influence among frontier provinces has increased rapidly.”
The Emperor’s gaze remained steady.
“And?”
