Inspector Malor pressed his back against the side of his transport van, his knuckles turning white around his clipboard.

The intensity in Evren’s eyes made the inspector feel as if a hungry predator were measuring his throat.

"C-Chairman Evren," Malor stammered, his thin mustache twitching violently. "We are only executing an official administrative order from the Capital Alchemical Regulation Board. If you obstruct our inspection, Director Crowe will request immediate armed assistance from the magistrate!"

Walter barked out a harsh laugh from behind his shield. "Let him call the magistrate, little man. I’d love to see which city guards want to test their batons against me and my men."

Before Malor could answer, a loud siren echoed down the industrial boulevard.

Two armored personnel carriers painted in matte military grey rounded the far corner at high speed. The vehicles bore the prominent eagle crest of the Imperial Defense Division, their tires screeching against the asphalt as they pulled up across the road.

Malor’s eyes lit up with hope as he pointed down the street. "The authorities are already here to enforce our warrant!"

Evren did not even turn around.

Amber merely folded her arms across her chest with a cool, mocking smirk, while Calista watched the military transports come to a halt.

The pneumatic doors of the lead carrier popped open with a loud release of pressure. A dozen heavily armed soldiers in charcoal-grey tactical combat armor stepped out, carrying military-grade pulse rifles at low-ready.

Leading them was an officer with captain’s insignia pinned to his collar, holding an encrypted digital tablet displaying the red seal of the High Defense Command.

Inspector Malor rushed forward, waving his paper clipboard frantically. "Captain, thank goodness! These guild mercenaries are actively resisting a lawful quarantine under Municipal Code 48..."

"Silence," the Provost Captain barked.

The captain walked straight past the trembling inspector, completely ignoring the paper thrust in his face. He stopped two paces before Evren, brought his right fist sharply against his chestplate, and gave a military salute.

"Chairman Evren," the captain announced firmly. "I am Captain Keller of the Imperial Defense Provost Corps. By order of Grand Arbiter Raymond Kincaid, my unit has been deployed to secure this location."

Evren nodded calmly. "At ease, Captain."

Captain Keller lowered his salute and turned toward Inspector Malor with a cold expression. He held out his tablet, where an executive order with the highest military clearance was displayed.

"Under Imperial Readiness Decree 12, this biotechnology complex is designated a Level-One Sovereign Defense Facility under direct military oversight," Captain Keller stated bluntly. "All civil injunctions, municipal codes, and local regulatory holds are hereby suspended."

Malor blinked in bewilderment, the color draining from his face until he looked like a ghost. "B-But... Code 48..."

"Code 48 does not apply to wartime defense installations, Inspector," Keller cut him off sharply. "Furthermore, any unauthorized personnel attempting to padlock, tamper with, or delay operations at this facility will be arrested on charges of treason against the High Defense Command."

The twelve Board enforcement officers behind Malor took an instinctive step backward, lowering their shock-batons and looking at each other in terror.

"Take your technicians, your chains, and your vehicles, and clear this street within two minutes," Captain Keller ordered coldly. "If you are still standing on this road when my chronometer hits zero, my men will hurl your asses to the barracks."

Malor did not say another word.

He scrambled toward the passenger seat of his van, nearly tripping over his own boots. His technicians scooped the dropped magnetic chains off the pavement in frantic haste, piling into the vehicles before the engines roared to life.

The two emerald transport vans peeled away from the curb, speeding down the boulevard in desperate retreat.

Walter let out a hearty, booming laugh. "Look at them run! They move pretty fast for desk clerks!"

Captain Keller turned back to Evren with a respectful nod. "My squad will remain stationed outside the perimeter gates, Chairman. No inspector or city official will bother your facility again."

"Thank you, Captain," Evren said. "I appreciate the quick response."

With the perimeter secured, Evren, Amber, and Calista walked through the wide-open blast gates into the compound.

The steel barriers rumbled shut behind them, sealing off the outside street with a reassuring thud. Walter’s veteran hunters immediately took up tactical guard posts along the perimeter catwalks and entrance bays.

Calista stopped in the center of the vast concrete courtyard, looking up at the large main building in stunned silence.

The structure of reinforced concrete, tinted industrial glass, and polished steel stretched across a hundred and fifty thousand square feet.

Until now, she had only seen it as flat digital schematics and blueprints on her tablet screen while sitting paralyzed in her wheelchair on Floor 80.

Now, she was standing right in front of it on her own two feet.

A cool morning breeze brushed through her hair, carrying the faint, clean scent of filtered air and fresh paint from the exterior vents.

"It’s huge," Calista murmured softly, her fingers lightly brushing against the fabric of her skirt. "Seeing the blueprints was one thing, but standing here... it feels completely different."

Amber walked up beside her, placing a warm hand on her back. "It’s all yours, Calista. Evren bought it, Walter secured it, and you’re the one who is going to make it run."

Evren smiled, reaching into his suit jacket. He pulled out a keycard stamped with the court escrow seal and handed it to Calista.

"Mikay sent this over after the deed cleared," Evren said. "You should be the one to open the doors."

Calista took the card, her fingers brushing against the cool plastic. A bright smile touched her face as she stepped toward the entrance.

She tapped the card against the wall scanner beside the double doors. The reader beeped, its status light shifting from red to bright green.

With a soft hiss from the pneumatic seals, the glass doors slid wide open.

The interior atrium was bright and spotless, illuminated by recessed mana-lighting that reflected off polished marble floors. A grand reception foyer opened up into high-security corridors, leading directly toward the manufacturing wings.

They walked down the central cleanroom corridor, where wide reinforced observation windows looked into the main production floor.

Calista pressed her hands against the glass, her eyes sparkling with pure fascination as she took in the sight.

Inside the vast, climate-controlled cleanroom stood three parallel production lines of industrial-grade brewing vats. Each massive cylinder was forged from pressure-tempered glass and alchemical bronze, connected by polished silver piping and precision temperature-control coils.

"Grade-Four automated pressure reactors," Calista said with excitement. "Look at the filtration columns. They have secondary mana-infusion manifolds that prevent energetic dissipation during large-scale boiling."

Amber peered through the glass, clearly impressed by the scale of the machinery. "How much can these lines produce once they’re running at full capacity?"

"With all three lines active, we can brew ten thousand doses of the Star-Jade Salve and five thousand bottles of the Meridian Tonic every twenty-four hours," Calista explained with proud certainty. "That’s more than enough to supply our hunters and flood the market before the month ends."

"And that’s why Crowe tried so hard to steal it," Evren noted calmly. "Monopolies survive by keeping supply scarce and prices high. Once this facility starts pumping out pure Grade-Five restoratives at scale, their old formulas become obsolete."

They continued through the research annex, passing automated testing stations, chemical centrifuges, and rows of walk-in cold-storage lockers. Everything was brand new, perfectly maintained.

Evren’s phone vibrated in his pocket with an incoming call from Walter. He pulled it out and answered.

"Chairman, our supply convoy just cleared the outer gate," Walter reported, the rumble of heavy diesel engines audible in the background. "Two transports from the conservatory, and two carrying the reagents and phials. My men are guiding them straight to Cargo Bay Three."

"Good work, Walter," Evren replied. "We’re heading down to meet them right now."

Evren hung up and looked over at Calista with a smile. "Your raw materials are here, so let’s head down to the loading dock."

They took the service elevator down to the rear industrial loading bays on the ground floor.

The corrugated steel bay doors were already rolling upward with a rhythmic mechanical rumble. Outside, four heavy armored cargo transports had backed up to the hydraulic unloading ramps.

The delivery crew began wheeling pallets of sealed, temperature-controlled containers into the facility.

Calista walked over to the first pallet, her heart beating fast with anticipation. She tapped the digital release latch on an insulated crate, lifting the lid to reveal rows of glowing, freshly harvested botanicals nestled in blue preservation gel.

"Star-Jade leaves from our District Three conservatory," Calista whispered, gently lifting a fragrant, translucent leaf with care. "They arrived in perfect condition, with zero mana degradation."

Beside her, another crate was opened, revealing dozens of sealed canisters filled with stabilizing catalysts and stacks of sterile crystal elixir phials. The entire loading bay buzzed as crates of rare minerals and botanical roots were swiftly organized into the cold-storage lockers.

Calista stood in the middle of the bustling bay, surrounded by her raw ingredients, her state-of-the-art facility, and the people who had protected her dream.

All the lingering doubts and fears from the morning had completely vanished. Her posture was tall, her cheeks flushed with warmth, and her eyes sparkled with passion.

She untied her hair, gathering the silver strands into a neat ponytail at the back of her head, and rolled up the sleeves of her blouse.

She turned around, flashing a radiant, mischievous smile at Evren and Amber.

"The ingredients are here, the vats are primed, and the power is running," Calista declared with pure confidence. "So... who wants to see me at work?"
