Heavy hammer strikes echoed through the stone streets of the Artisan Quarter. Glowing soot drifted through the cool air from brick chimneys and tall exhaust vents.

Down the cobblestone alley, three armored guards stood watch near a black SUV, while Evren, Amber, and Zephyra walked toward a wide archway marked by an iron anvil crest.

Heat washed over them the moment they stepped past the heavy leather draft curtains.

Inside, three smelting furnaces burned with bright orange flame, their vents glowing dull red.

Piles of steel ingots, tempered alloys, and quenching vats lined the stone walls, while racks of finished polearms and broadswords hung from ceiling chains.

At the center of the workshop, an anvil rang with a crack.

Master Tridon stood over glowing steel, his muscular arms covered in soot and scars. He wore a leather apron over a sleeveless tunic, his graying beard tied back with a leather cord.

With a final blow, he quenched the blade into dark oil, sending white steam toward the ceiling.

Tridon grabbed a rough linen rag from his workbench, wiping sweat from his forehead. As he turned toward the entrance, his eyes locked onto the three visitors.

CLANG!

The steel tongs in his left hand slipped from his grip, clattering against the stone floor. "Evren?!" Tridon bellowed in a deep, rumbling voice.

A broad grin split the blacksmith’s soot-streaked face.

"What in the world brings you to the Capital two days early?" Tridon laughed, wiping his hands on his apron as he stepped forward. "Ast I heard, you were lounging on the beach down south."

"Vacation got cut short," Evren said with a laugh, shaking the smith’s heavy hand. "The Ministry moved the National Assembly up because of the coordinated rifts. Besides, I have business with your hammer."

Tridon chuckled loudly, nodding toward Amber. "Good to see you standing tall, Lady Sterling. Those dragon-bone sabers still holding their edge?"

"Better than ever, Master Tridon," Amber smiled. "They cut through a Level Fifty coral behemoth just this morning."

"Ha! That’s what I like to hear!" Tridon beamed with pride.

The master smith turned his gaze toward Zephyra, taking in her steady posture and alert violet eyes.

Tridon picked up a fresh rag and wiped down the center anvil. "Alright," he said, cutting straight to business. "What kind of weapon are you looking to forge?"

"A signature weapon for Zephyra," Evren answered directly. "We want a Shadow Whip-Blade."

Tridon stopped mid-wipe. He raised an eyebrow, his craftsman instincts instantly hooked.

"Don’t ask me," Evren said with an amused smile, looking down at Zephyra. "Ask the wielder."

Zephyra stepped forward to the edge of the anvil, her violet eyes calm and decisive. "A Shadow Whip-Blade," she answered clearly.

Tridon stopped mid-wipe. He raised an eyebrow, his craftsman instincts instantly hooked. "A whip-blade?" he mused, resting his heavy forearms on the edge of the anvil. "A segmented sword isn’t something an ordinary hunter can handle," he said, looking at her with newfound respect. "That’s an assassin’s weapon through and through."

"I need something for stealth, rapid execution, and close-quarters flexibility," Zephyra replied steadily. "A rigid short sword when I close the distance," she added, "and a flexible whip to strike through blind spots."

"A segmented weapon is one of the hardest pieces of steel to forge in the Empire," Tridon said, rubbing his rough chin.

"If the joints are too loose, the weapon lacks cutting power when rigid. If the joints are too tight, the segments jam when expanding."

He paced around the anvil, sketching lines in the air with a thick finger.

"To make it work, each segment must be carved from high-density obsidian-alloy plates, interlocked with microscopic precision. When locked tight, it handles like a balanced short blade. When released, it needs high-tension mana filaments to hold the pieces together across twenty feet."

Tridon paused, looking at Evren seriously. "The alloy isn’t the problem," Tridon added. "The problem is the core."

"Ordinary beast cores can’t handle the strain of expanding and contracting twenty segments instantly," he continued. "You need a top-tier core to act as the weapon’s mana heart."

Evren smiled faintly.

He reached into his jacket, tapping his spatial storage ring.

With a soft shimmer of spatial light, Evren placed a dark, fist-sized crystal onto the anvil. The moment the crystal touched the cold iron, a deep, rhythmic pulse of violet light rippled across the workshop.

The furnace heat pulled back, swallowed by a calm, soundless chill.

The room went dead quiet.

Tridon froze, his eyes bulging as he stared at the crystal.

He leaned down slowly, his face inches from the gem, terrified that breathing too hard might make it vanish.

"By the Ancestors..." Tridon whispered, his voice trembling with awe. "A genuine S-Rank Shadow Monster Core... pure, uncorrupted, and perfectly crystallized," he breathed.

He looked up at Evren with wide eyes. "Where did you even find something like this? S-Rank shadow cores don’t just drop from ordinary rifts!"

"A gift from an old friend in Sector Four," Evren replied casually. "Can your forge handle it?"

"Handle it?!" Tridon barked, a wild fire igniting in his eyes. "Boy, I’ve spent forty years waiting to sink my hammer into a core of this grade. This isn’t just a commission; this is a masterwork!"

Zephyra stepped forward, looking down at the radiant core, then at the smith. "Master Tridon," she said softly, holding up her hands. "There is one condition you need to know."

"My mana veins are completely healed, but my inner core isn’t unsealed yet," she added quietly. "I cannot channel external mana into the weapon right now."

Tridon listened carefully, nodding with deep understanding.

"That changes the forging balance, but it doesn’t stop us," Tridon said. "We build the blade in two distinct stages."

He tapped the table, outlining the dual mechanics.

"For Stage One, I will forge the body from tempered obsidian-alloy and astral star-iron, balanced two inches above the hilt for your grip and wrist speed."

"Even with zero mana, it will be a razor-sharp physical short blade," Tridon continued. "You can parry, slice, and pierce vital spots using pure physical skill."

Zephyra’s violet eyes brightened as she listened.

"And Stage Two?" Evren asked.

"Stage Two remains dormant inside the hilt," Tridon grinned.

"I will embed the S-Rank Shadow Core directly into the pommel, linking it to the internal filament channels. The moment your core unseals and your shadow mana flows into the grip, the core will awaken."

Tridon clapped his heavy hands together with a booming laugh.

"When it wakes up, the segments unlock instantly into a twenty-foot flexible shadow whip. It will swallow light so it doesn’t reflect in the dark, dampen sound so swings make zero whistling noise, and rip through armor like paper."

Zephyra looked at the dark core, her chest tightening with quiet anticipation. "A weapon that grows with me."

"Precisely, lass," Tridon said proudly.

The old smith pulled a calculation slate from his shelf, punching in the material requirements. "To house an S-Rank core, I need three bars of pure astral star-iron, ten pounds of refined obsidian-alloy, and five vials of void-resistant quenching oil. Factor in expedited overnight labor and my master fee..."

Tridon looked up from the slate. "It comes out to ten million dollars flat."

Evren didn’t even blink.

He reached into his pocket and handed over his black card. "Get it done, Tridon. Make it the finest blade you’ve ever forged."

Tridon took the card with a grin and swiped it through his countertop terminal.

BEEP!

The terminal chimed softly, flashing a clean green confirmation:

[TRANSACTION APPROVED: $10,000,000.00 USD]

A split second later, a golden chime rang directly in Evren’s mind:

[DING!]

[DETECTED INVESTMENT IN HEROINE: ZEPHYRA NIGHTSHADE (SIGNATURE WEAPON FORGING COMMISSION & RARE MATERIALS]

[AMOUNT SPENT: $10,000,000.00 USD]

[TARGET HEROINE: ZEPHYRA NIGHTSHADE]

[APPLYING REBATE MULTIPLIER: 1,000x]

[REBATE TRIGGERED: +$10,000,000,000.00 USD ($10 BILLION USD)!]

[FUNDS SAFELY DEPOSITED TO SYSTEM SOVEREIGN VAULT (TRANSDIMENSIONAL STORAGE)]

[TOTAL SOVEREIGN VAULT BALANCE: $213,000,000,000.00 USD ($213 BILLION USD)]

A warm golden shimmer flared across Evren’s vision before quietly fading away.

Zephyra stood quietly by the anvil, watching the transaction.

Ten million dollars.

In the underground fighting pits of Sector Four, her life had been traded for scraps. To the syndicate bosses, she had been a disposable tool to discard the second her hands broke.

Yet here was Evren, spending ten million dollars on her personal weapon without a single second of hesitation, investing in her future before her mana had even awakened.

Her heart swelled with overwhelming warmth, and a deep devotion settled into her soul. She turned toward Evren, her violet eyes shining with quiet emotion.

"Evren..." she whispered softly. "Thank you."

Evren smiled and gently squeezed her hand. "You deserve the best steel in the Empire."

Amber leaned against the counter, smiling warmly at the two of them. "Master Tridon, when will the weapon be ready?"

"My apprentices and I will work through the night," Tridon said, picking up his heavy tongs and carefully lifting the S-Rank Shadow Core into an insulated velvet box.

"Come back tomorrow evening," Tridon added with a grin. "Your Shadow Whip-Blade will be waiting on this anvil."
