"E-Evren! What... what are you doing?!" she stammered, her voice trembling in utter mortification.

"Putting on lotion," Evren chuckled softly, his strong hands kneading into the firm, toned curves of her glutes before gliding down the smooth backs of her shapely thighs. "Can’t leave this part unprotected, can we?"

A deep, delicious shudder rippled through Zephyra’s entire frame, and a soft, helpless whimper slipped from her lips as her shadow corps discipline melted into pure, tingling warmth.

"Now roll over, Z," Evren said with an amused smile. "Front side."

Zephyra’s violet eyes went wide with panic. "The... front?! Evren, that is... my vitals are located there!"

Amber giggled from her daybed. "Relax, Z! He’s not stabbing your vitals, he’s protecting your skin!"

Flustered beyond words, Zephyra turned over and laid flat on her back.

Her firm bust pushed against the midnight-violet halter top, displaying a pale, gorgeous cleavage that rose and fell with rapid breaths. Her slender waist and flat, toned stomach showed a faint, athletic line of definition above the low-slung bikini straps.

Evren smoothed the aloe over the hollow of her throat and out across her pale collarbones.

When his warm palms slid down the upper curve of her chest, skimming the valley between her breasts, Zephyra’s breath caught in her throat. Her heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird, and the tips of her pointed ears turned blazing red.

Her violet eyes locked onto Evren with an intense, dizzying devotion, completely vulnerable and unguarded.

Evren worked the silky lotion over her flat stomach and down the smooth length of her thighs, leaving her pale skin shimmering under the morning light.

"All secure, guardian," Evren smiled, giving her knee an affectionate tap.

Zephyra sat up in a flash, pulling her knees tightly to her chest to hide her burning face. But behind her crossed arms, her violet eyes peeked out at him.

"...Acknowledged," she whispered. "Thank youu."

Amber burst out laughing. "See? I told you it was nice!"

Amber jumped off the daybed, grabbed a colorful beach ball from the equipment basket, and kicked it up into her hands.

"No more lying around!" Amber called out, running down to the shore. "First one into the water wins!"

Her bare feet splashed into the turquoise shallows, kicking up cool spray as she laughed. Evren pulled off his shirt and followed, enjoying the refreshing ocean water against the warm air.

Zephyra stood up, dusted off her wrap, and stepped carefully to the edge of the water. When a gentle wave washed over her bare feet, she stopped, curling her toes into the wet sand with a look of quiet wonder.

"It’s... warm," she murmured. "And soft."

"Catch, Z!" Amber yelled.

Amber hit the beach ball high into the air toward Zephyra.

Zephyra’s instincts snapped into gear. Her violet eyes locked onto the spinning ball. "Target airborne," she announced with deadpan seriousness. "Commencing kinetic interception."

She leaped three feet into the air effortlessly.

WHACK.

Zephyra spiked the ball straight down like an artillery shell. It slammed into the wet sand between Evren and Amber, burying itself halfway into the grit.

Amber stared at the buried ball, then burst into loud laughter.

"Zephyra! It’s a beach ball! You’re supposed to hit it back so we keep it going! You don’t have to assassinate it!"

Zephyra blinked in genuine confusion. "I neutralized the incoming projectile. Was that not the objective?"

"No, you silly assassin!"

Without warning, Amber scooped up two handfuls of ocean water and splashed them straight at Zephyra!

SPLASH!

Cool sea water hit Zephyra squarely in the face and chest.

Zephyra froze. Droplets dripped from the tip of her nose, her silver hair plastered damply to her cheeks.

"Hostile aquatic attack detected," Zephyra whispered, stunned.

"What are you going to do about it?" Amber teased, splashing her again.

Zephyra’s mouth twitched. A rare, playful spark lit up her violet eyes. "Retaliation," she murmured with a smirk.

She dropped low and swept both arms through the water. A huge wave of ocean spray shot upward, crashing right over Amber’s head.

Amber shrieked with laughter, completely drenched. "Evren, help! She’s too fast!"

"Reinforcements on the way!" Evren laughed, scooping a double wave straight at Zephyra.

SPLASH!

The water caught Zephyra by surprise, soaking her hair and shoulders. She gasped, stumbled back on the sand, and then...

She laughed.

It was a bright, musical, unrestrained laugh that echoed across the empty beach. Her entire face lit up in that single moment of pure joy.

"Evren has switched sides!" Zephyra announced, laughing so hard she could barely aim. "Engaging both targets!"

For the next twenty minutes, the private beach was filled with flying water, splashing waves, and breathless laughter.

When they finally called a truce, all three waded out and collapsed side-by-side onto the dry sand just above the tide line.

The drenched swimwear left almost nothing to the imagination. The wet coral fabric of Amber’s bikini clung like a second skin over her full breasts, tracing their peaked outlines of her nipples through the cloth.

As she rolled onto her side against Evren’s shoulder, the wet bottoms hugged the lush curve of her ass.

"I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun," Amber murmured softly, closing her eyes against the warm sun.

On Evren’s other side, Zephyra’s wet violet top was plastered tightly over her breasts too. Sitting with her knees pulled up, the clinging fabric sculpted the peach-shaped curves of her ass, with droplets of water trickling down her smooth thighs into the sand.

"Neither can I," Zephyra said softly, looking at the gentle waves with a serene smile. "I did not know the world could feel like this."

Evren smiled, feeling a deep, quiet warmth in his chest. He reached over and brushed a damp strand of silver hair from Zephyra’s flushed cheek.

Zephyra leaned into his hand, letting out a soft, contented breath.

At that exact second, a golden chime sounded in Evren’s mind.

DING!

Evren looked down at the notification with a satisfied smile. Ninety-two percent. They were only eight percent away from unlocking the permanent one-thousand-fold multiplier.

Suddenly, before the warm glow could fade, the golden prompt in Evren’s vision abruptly expanded into a wide geographic radar sweep across the regional coastline.

PING!

[CRITICAL RADAR DISCOVERY: S-RANK ANCIENT ALCHEMY REAGENT DETECTED!]

[WARNING: NATURAL BLOOM WINDOW WILL WITHER AND DISSOLVE IN 72 HOURS, 00 MINUTES!]

[COUNTDOWN INITIATED: 71:59:59... 71:59:58...]

Evren’s eyes widened.

He quietly pulled out his phone and tapped open the maps.

Mistral Crag Isle was an isolated volcanic formation sitting out in the deep-water maritime channel that connected the southern waters back north toward Veridia and the Capital. It was completely uninhabited, surrounded by perpetual fog and rough seasonal swells.

Reaching it by land would mean packing up, driving hours back along the inland highway to Veridia, and finding an industrial charter at the docks.

Evren glanced down at Amber resting comfortably against his shoulder, then at Zephyra, whose fingers were still gently curled around his hand.

He had no intention of ending their trip early.

The deep-water route from the Sapphire Coast marina ran directly north along the outer shelf, passing right past the island on its way up the coast.

With seventy-two hours before the bloom withered, they had plenty of time.

Instead of an exhausting road trip, they could take the sea route. A private mega-yacht would turn the entire voyage into an offshore island cruise, keeping both of them relaxed and comfortable while sailing straight toward the reagent.

Evren’s lips curved into a confident smile as he looked out across the glittering ocean.

Vacation wasn’t ending. It was just moving onto the water.
