Chapter 1767: Movie, Living Together, Kiss in the Dark

  • Next Chapter

On the other side, Yi Garden

Today is National Day, and many satellite TV stations are broadcasting celebratory galas, filled with song and dance, exceptionally festive and lively, yet the two people sitting in the living room are silent, not chatting, making the atmosphere rather awkward and uneasy.

Jiang Ruan had slept drowsily all day, and now she wasn’t sleepy at all. She thought to herself, maybe...

Go for a walk, and then incidentally send him off?

"Senior, are you sleepy?"

"Not really."

"How about we go out for a walk? It’s probably quite lively outside tonight." After all, it’s a holiday.

Yan Chi nodded, "It’s cold outside, and you’re just recovering from a cold, so take a jacket."

Yan Chi didn’t speak much but was extremely considerate. When they left together, they passed a pharmacy, and he went in to buy her a mask. Jiang Ruan had planned to take a casual stroll and have him drive back to his own home when they returned. But as they passed a shopping mall, it was already close to ten, and the mall had closed, yet from one side exit, a crowd suddenly rushed out...

"That movie was really good, especially that part in the middle, so thrilling."

"It got my blood pumping."

"I think it’s the best this year."

...

Jiang Ruan then noticed they had arrived at a cinema, which still had posters of National Day films outside. She stared at them for a few moments. She really did enjoy movies and had originally planned to watch one with Qi Lie.

"Do you want to watch?" Yan Chi asked.

"Sure."

Yan Chi remembered her plan with Qi Lie to watch a movie. He thought he could accompany her, why trouble someone unrelated? Seeing Jiang Ruan’s attention fixated on a movie poster, he got the gist.

Just as Jiang Ruan turned to call him to leave, someone had already quickly pulled out a phone and booked two tickets.

Originally, tickets for the first day of National Day releases were hard to come by, but it was late now, so the occupancy rate was naturally low.

Jiang Ruan was completely stunned.

"Didn’t you want to watch a movie? Let’s go, I’ll go with you."

"But..."

Jiang Ruan was totally dazed; she originally went out intending to send Yan Chi away, yet here she was entering the cinema.

At 9:50 PM showing, there were still some people in the cinema hall. As the two of them walked in, many couldn’t help but take a second look. Jiang Ruan wore a mask, so her features weren’t visible, but Yan Chi was too tall, standing out conspicuously, impossible to ignore.

"I’ll buy some snacks, wait for me." Yan Chi said and went to the concession stand. Jiang Ruan glanced at the time. This movie was over two hours long, finishing at midnight, how would she manage that?

Yan Chi didn’t buy much food, he just brought back two drinks, "You’re just recovering from your cold, so I only got you a drink."

"Thank you."

Jiang Ruan took the cup with a cola design and was dumbfounded, warm?

Inside it was actually...

Warm water!

Recovering from a cold, indeed only suitable for drinking water, but if you’re drinking cola yourself, that’s a bit unkind.

Yan Chi saw her staring at his cola and explained:

"Asking them for just a cup of water might be difficult, so I bought a cola and asked them to give me a cup of warm water."

Jiang Ruan gave a somewhat sheepish smile, and even as they entered the theater, she was still a bit sulky.

Her mouth was already dry and tasteless, and with people around eating popcorn and other snacks, she could only drink warm water, feeling naturally disappointed.

Yan Chi, aware she wasn’t happy inside, handed her the cola.

"I’m not drinking." Jiang Ruan knew her sickness had just passed. She craved it but was mindful of her health.

"Not for all, just take a sip." Yan Chi inserted the straw into the cup.

Jiang Ruan thought, maybe just a sip to satisfy the craving...

Yan Chi pushed the cola towards her, she raised a hand to pull down her mask, leaned slightly towards Yan Chi’s seat, and bent to sip from the straw.

Instantly her mouth was filled with the sweet taste of cola, the soda tantalizing her taste buds, the notion of just a sip or two, Yan Chi wouldn’t realize, so she took another sip.

At this moment, the cinema lights suddenly dimmed, likely the movie was about to start...

"I’m done..."

Jiang Ruan looked up, intending to tell him she had finished.

But with the lights out, her eyes were slow to adjust to the dark, and for a fleeting moment of visual blindness, she felt something gently brush against her lips.

Soft, warm.

When her vision returned with the screen lights up, Yan Chi’s face was inches away, his eyes as dark as abysses.

He had just lightly brushed her, and in a low voice said:

"The movie’s about to begin."
