Pampered by My Secret Husband
Chapter 1193 - 1195: Who Is the Girl Locked in the Basement?
Cheryl Chew’s face was pale, and when she called out those three words, there was an obvious tremor in her voice.
Thomas Shannon closed the file, "Awake?"
Cheryl Chew closed her eyes, her slender body swayed, teetering on the brink of collapse, "Brother Shannon... the girl locked in the basement, who is she?"
Last night, she wanted to put away the extra easel in the clutter chamber, but accidentally entered the basement. It was a dim, long corridor that seemed to have no end.
Dark and damp, with an inescapable musty smell lingering in the air.
Cockroaches and unknown small insects could be seen everywhere in the corners, crawling unrestrainedly past her feet, scaring her into shrill screams.
The screams caught the attention of the person locked in a room.
Since Gaby bit Raina Bell on the leg, she had been thrown into the basement, a dark and endless basement, seemingly an endless swamp, trapping one in despair, hard to rise from.
Raina Bell couldn’t believe her life was ruined like this...
She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination; she heard someone’s screams. Maybe it was too long since she last saw someone, or maybe too long since she last heard a human voice; she stayed in a silence so quiet it was almost empty every day.
In the silent void, her inner fears and distracting thoughts magnified infinitely.
The sudden scream made her begin to doubt if she was hallucinating.
After doubting, she began to confirm, there really was someone...
There really was someone!
"Who’s outside?"
Having not spoken for a long time, her voice was hoarse, almost unable to make a sound, and every word she spoke tore at her throat painfully.
Cheryl Chew in the corridor was equally frightened; how could there be someone in the basement?
What on earth was hidden in those rooms sealed by heavy iron doors?
The thin scent of blood still hung at the edge of her nostrils. Cheryl Chew stopped walking, clutching the easel, her voice slightly trembling: "Is anyone there?"
After a few seconds of silence, a voice followed, responding excitedly, echoing her: "Yes! Someone! There’s someone here!"
Hearing the response, Cheryl Chew instinctively headed towards the source of the voice, finally stopping in front of a room door.
Through the thick iron door, she couldn’t see who was inside.
She could only hear a voice coming out from a small window on the iron door. Cheryl Chew stood at the doorway, her heart pounding with nervousness.
In this silent basement, it carried a bit of thrill.
"You... who are you?"
Raina Bell heard a girl’s voice; unfortunately, she couldn’t see who it was. Swallowing nervously, regardless of who was standing outside, she had to try.
This might be her only chance.
"I’m Raina Bell..."
Cheryl Chew nodded absently, a familiar feeling flashing through her mind a few seconds later.
Raina Bell...
Raina Bell, where had she heard this name before?
After recalling for a moment, Cheryl Chew realized that the servant had told her, because Raina Bell resembled her, Thomas Shannon treated her with special care.
So, the person inside was really Raina Bell?
"Are you really Raina Bell?" Cheryl Chew’s voice was tinted with disbelief.
Wasn’t Brother Shannon supposed to give her special care, so how could she be in the basement?
"I am... who are you?" Raina Bell’s heart tightened.
Hesitating, Cheryl Chew decided to tell her her name, "My name is Cheryl Chew."
