Chapter 440: Antarctic Natural Wonder, the Terrifying Milky White Sky!

  • Next Chapter

Ning Fei placed the king penguin in the passenger seat and sped off into the distance. The lost penguin's limbs had been frozen stiff, but now, sitting in the vehicle with the heater blowing, it instantly felt much more comfortable.

Although penguins lived in Antarctica, they still feared the cold.

Even in zoo enclosures, penguins would often run to the warmest spots they could find.

After all, who would choose to freeze when they could hang out somewhere warm?

The Snow Off-Road Vehicle sped forward.

The king penguin looked out the window. It probably never imagined it would ever travel at such breakneck speeds in its entire life.

About two hours later, the vehicle finally neared the edge of the Antarctic Island.

Ning Fei could already hear the sound of the ocean.

At the sound, the lost king penguin grew incredibly excited, its little wings flapping continuously.

Ning Fei drove the vehicle to a higher vantage point and looked out.

Ahead, a massive colony of penguins milled about, happily playing.

Massive rocks littered the coastline, and quite a few penguins were hopping back and forth across them.

Just off to the side of the penguins, another animal colony was visible.

"It's seals!"

"I didn't expect a group of seals to be right next to the penguin colony!"

"Seals are natural predators of penguins, and they do eat them."

"But that is only in the water."

"When they are on land, both sides are very clumsy, which makes hunting too difficult. That's why you get this rare phenomenon of predator and prey becoming neighbors."

Ning Fei stopped the vehicle and opened the passenger door.

The king penguin was already dizzy with hunger. Now that it finally saw the ocean, it could no longer contain its excitement.

It scrambled out, stumbling and falling after just two steps. Its belly slid across the ice and snow as its feet flailed wildly to push it forward.

Waddling penguins were a common sight, but this was Ning Fei's first time seeing one crawl.

"This penguin has been hungry for a very long time."

"Penguins generally live by the ocean. There isn't any food in the interior of the Antarctic Continent."

"That's why it is so thrilled to see the sea."

Ning Fei said with a smile.

"Hahaha, the little penguin just ran off without a single word of thanks!"

"Animals understand human nature. It will definitely be grateful to Ning Guan master."

"Doing good deeds is about staying true to your own heart. You don't force or expect anything in return."

"Look at Ning Guan master, he's smiling so happily too."

Ning Fei was indeed very happy.

There was no telling how long this penguin had been wandering through the barren snow and ice. Now that it finally saw the ocean, its overwhelming excitement and joy also affected Ning Fei.

"Antarctica has a lot of marine life."

"Krill, killer whales, seals, penguins, and more."

"There is a massive population of killer whales here. They also feed on penguins and krill, so they thrive near Antarctica."

Standing on the high ground, Ning Fei watched the lost little penguin charge into the colony and dive straight into the ocean.

He guessed that it was definitely going to stuff itself with a hearty meal in the sea.

Afterward, Ning Fei quietly admired the colonies of penguins and seals from afar.

It was a good way to relax his mind and body.

After taking in the sight for a while, Ning Fei drove the vehicle back toward the Scientific Research Station.

The Scientific Research Station was still quite a distance away. He needed to get there as early as possible, otherwise he could easily run into danger.

At that moment, Ning Fei faintly felt a sense of foreboding.

After driving for a while longer, his Danger Perception skill suddenly triggered a warning signal.

"It seems my luck isn't so good. I've run into some trouble!"

"It's a milky white sky!"

Ning Fei looked ahead, his expression turning slightly serious as he had no choice but to stop the vehicle.

Hearing Ning Fei's words, the viewers were full of confusion.

"Ning Guan master, why did the car stop?"

"Milky white sky? What is that?"

Meanwhile, back at the Scientific Research Station, Liu Dashan was also watching the livestream, worried that Ning Fei might run into danger if he spent the night in Antarctica.

"Oh no, Ning Guan master has encountered a milky white sky phenomenon!"

"I need to notify him immediately to stay where he is and wait for rescue!"

The moment Liu Dashan saw the broadcast on the screen, he dialed Ning Fei's phone.

While the viewers were still confused, the drone pointed its camera straight ahead.

"This..."

Seeing the footage in the livestream, everyone was stunned.

The scene before their eyes had completely exceeded their comprehension.

"The so-called milky white sky is a bizarre weather phenomenon unique to Antarctica."

"It is formed by the interaction of extreme polar temperatures and cold air."

"When sunlight hits the ice, it is reflected back up into the low-hanging clouds. The countless snow particles in those clouds then act like millions of mirrors, reflecting the light right back down to the ice."

"This continuous back-and-forth reflection creates the scene you see right now."

"The sky and the earth merge into one. The entire world becomes snow-white, making it impossible to see anything or tell directions. It even creates optical illusions."

"This is one of the great natural hazards of Antarctica: the milky white sky!"

Listening to Ning Fei's explanation while looking at the blinding white filling the livestream, the viewers instantly grew tense.

At that very moment, the sky in front of Ning Fei's vehicle had become a vast expanse of white, merging flawlessly into the ice and snow on the ground!

Nothing could be seen in the surroundings; every object was swallowed by the blinding white light.

Just then, Ning Fei received a call from Liu Dashan.

"Hello, Station Leader Liu. I'm fine, don't worry."

"It's only a milky white sky. You don't need to send a rescue team; I can detour around it."

"Mm, don't worry!"

Ning Fei spoke confidently for a moment before hanging up.

Ning Fei's phone conversation also reached the ears of the viewers.

"Ning Guan master sounds really confident!"

"This scene is just too bizarre. To think a phenomenon like this exists—I've really broadened my horizons today!"

"Antarctica is, after all, the only continent without a permanent human population. It's full of danger!"

"The sky and the landscape actually both turned completely white. It's so surreal!"

Sitting in the vehicle, Ning Fei was simply admiring this rare spectacle.

"In reality, the milky white sky is extremely threatening to human activity."

"Skiers will lose their balance and fall, driving vehicles will inexplicably flip over, and planes can even lose control and crash."

"There have actually been two incidents where planes encountered a milky white sky and crashed, resulting in total fatalities."

"When encountering a situation like this, you either take a detour around it, or stay exactly where you are. You have to keep warm and wait for the phenomenon to dissipate, or wait for a rescue team."

"I'm a bit short on time, so naturally, I can't wait for this phenomenon to vanish."

Ning Fei added.

"Ning Guan master, you're already inside the milky white sky. What are you going to do?"

"It's completely white everywhere! How are you going to get out?!"

"This looks just like an alternate world."

"Yeah, it's terrifying. I just looked it up—in a milky white sky, what your eyes see might not even be real."

"If your eyes can't see it, what do you do? Are you going to drive with your eyes closed?"

As a matter of fact, that viewer hit the nail right on the head.

"In a milky white sky, the visual information your eyes process isn't real."

"Because of that, you can't trust your eyes when driving."

"I shouldn't have driven very far into the milky white sky area when I first entered it."

"Therefore, all I need to do is close my eyes and reverse along my exact path."

As Ning Fei spoke, he shifted into reverse. Then, closing his eyes, he stepped on the gas pedal.

Seeing this, the viewers cried out in astonishment.

"Holy shit! He's actually driving with his eyes closed!"

"!"

The drone flew in front of the vehicle, capturing everything perfectly. The viewers could see with absolute clarity that Ning Fei's eyes were shut tight.

He hadn't encountered any obstacles along the way just now. Furthermore, this was Antarctica, so there was virtually no risk of hitting anything.

Under the astonished gazes of the viewers, colors suddenly flooded back into the scenery behind the off-road vehicle.

The sky turned blue once again.

Ning Fei had managed to back out of the zone saturated with white light.

After reversing a bit further, Ning Fei finally opened his eyes.

Trusting his instincts with his eyes closed was far more accurate. If he had reversed with his eyes open, the visual illusions might have tricked him into deviating from his original path, making it extremely difficult to ever find his way out.

Ning Fei brought the vehicle to a halt. Staring at the vast white expanse ahead, he couldn't help but marvel at the wonders of nature.

Immediately after, he stepped on the gas, turned the steering wheel, and steered clear of the milky white sky region, continuing his journey forward.

The viewers paid even closer attention to the rest of his journey.
