Chapter 386: A Landslide? Easily Dodged!

  • Next Chapter

Ning Fei followed the valley, heading deeper inside.

The search and rescue team had already packed up, leaving only two members and Yong Tao waiting at the edge of the cliff.

The reporters had left as well.

Even if the search and rescue team wanted to find the two injured South China tigers, they might not succeed.

Moreover, the risk was extremely high, and it wasn't within the scope of the team's duties anyway.

So, Ning Fei was the only one left still searching.

'They fell from such a height; they have to be hurt.'

'If they keep running for much longer, the strain on their bodies will be immense.'

'I hope they're alright.'

Ning Fei thought to himself.

He continued his pursuit. There was only one path through the valley, so tracking them wasn't overly complicated.

Just then, three black wild boars suddenly appeared ahead of him.

The boars were laying in a patch of tall grass, entirely focused on eating wild fruit.

Seeing the wild boars, the viewers in the stream immediately grew terrified.

After all, Ning Fei didn't have any suitable weapons on hand, and a wild boar's tusks could easily pierce human flesh.

Before anyone could say a word, Ning Fei suddenly broke into a sprint and leaped into the air.

He kicked off the sheer cliff face beside him and bounded onto the thick branch of a large tree.

From there, he pushed off with both feet again, launching himself higher. He executed a mid-air forward roll and landed smoothly on the ground.

Just like that, he effortlessly vaulted right over the three wild boars' heads.

He glanced back at the boars before immediately picking up his pace and hurrying onward.

The three wild boars seemed to sense something. They stopped chewing and exchanged bewildered glances.

It was as if they were saying:

"Did something just fly past us?"

"I didn't get a good look. Did you?"

"Me neither. You must be seeing things."

"Must be. Let's get back to eating."

Ning Fei continued rushing forward.

He dropped into a half-crouch once more.

"Here are South China tiger tracks again."

"They aren't as clear this time. Judging by the indentations, one of the tigers must have injured its front paw; it's putting very little weight on it."

"But it can still run."

"I wonder where they ran off to."

Ning Fei looked toward the distance. Beyond the valley lay an expansive, open mountainous area.

Once they reached it, tracking the South China tigers down would become even harder.

What Ning Fei couldn't figure out was why Little falcon hadn't spotted them yet.

Had the South China tigers found a place to hide and rest?

Just got here. Can someone tell me what Ning Guan master is doing?

In the stream chat, the viewers were discussing the situation eagerly.

Two South China tigers fell from the mountain and ran off. Ning Guan master is looking for them.

It looks like it's Da Qun and his mate.

Good lord, tracking tigers? Is he really that skilled?

Ning Guan master is definitely a master hunter.

By this time, Ning Fei finally emerged from the valley.

Beyond it lay an expansive stretch of open mountain terrain.

The topography here was far more complex, with incredibly steep slopes.

Ning Fei stood at the mouth of the valley and carefully surveyed his surroundings.

"Here. These bushes have been trampled. Judging by the snapped stems, it happened very recently."

"Almost no other animals pass through this area because of the high elevation."

"The most likely culprits are Da Qun and his mate."

Ning Fei pushed forward, maintaining a rapid pace.

Since the two tigers had tumbled off a cliff, Ning Fei needed to find out if they were hurt and how severe their injuries were. He couldn't rest easy until he knew.

The viewers watched his tracking efforts with bated breath.

However, the mountain was massive. Picking up the trail of two tigers out here was an incredibly difficult task.

After all, they wouldn't leave paw prints on every surface they crossed.

Little falcon had been circling high above Ning Fei, doing its best to help him spot the South China tigers.

Yet, it hadn't found anything either.

"Where could they be?"

"Did I track them in the wrong direction?"

Ning Fei muttered to himself.

Since descending through the valley, he had been running for nearly an hour.

The valley itself was incredibly long, so just making it out had eaten up a lot of time.

Still, those two South China tigers could certainly run; even injured, they had covered a massive distance.

"By the time I arrived at the cliff, roughly two hours had passed since the fall."

"Da Qun had already fled far away by then."

"I need to find a way to make up for that two-hour head start!"

Ning Fei pushed himself to run even faster.

He stopped from time to time, scanning the ground for any traces left by the two tigers.

"Rumble! Rumble!"

Suddenly, Ning Fei heard a deafening crash behind him.

He whipped his head around, only to see a massive boulder hurtling down the steep mountainside straight toward him.

The slope of the mountain he was traversing was incredibly sheer.

With sparse trees and vegetation, the mountainside was mostly covered in a chaotic jumble of jagged rocks and boulders.

Seeing the massive rock barreling downward, panic swept through the viewers.

The boulder gathered speed as it plummeted, making for a truly terrifying sight.

However, Ning Fei remained perfectly calm. He watched the plunging boulder, paused right where he was for a split second, and let the giant rock roar harmlessly past him.

"There are a lot of loose rocks on this mountain. After freezing over the winter and thawing in the spring, much of the rock face fractures and loosens, making landslides a frequent occurrence."

"These situations are incredibly dangerous because the falling rocks pick up a tremendous amount of speed."

"Even a small stone could easily knock someone out, or worse, prove fatal."

Ning Fei explained to the viewers after dodging the massive boulder.

Only then did the viewers realize just how deadly a landslide could be.

At that moment, Ning Fei suddenly realized that Da Qun and his mate had been fleeing down the mountain.

And the falling rock had originated from behind him.

Could they be in danger?

At that thought, Ning Fei broke into another sprint, rushing down the mountain.

As steep as the rocky mountain was, its base was even more precipitous.

There was a nearly perpendicular ninety-degree drop of about twenty meters before it finally met the flat ground below.

Ning Fei circled the edge until he found a spot where the slope was slightly gentler, offering a few footholds. He dropped down, bounding across the slope in a few quick jumps before landing on the flat ground.

"If Da Qun and his mate came down this way, they would have had to jump from here,"

"This is the best route for a tiger descending the mountain. Otherwise, they'd have to take a massive detour."

Ning Fei stated.

The base of the mountain was so sheer that even a tiger wouldn't dare jump down recklessly.

Because of this, Ning Fei was certain the South China tigers had descended at the exact same spot he did.

But where had they gone from there? Why would they just vanish into thin air?

Ning Fei stood at the bottom of the mountain on the flat ground.

Suddenly, a look of profound astonishment spread across his face.

This was the very first time Ning Fei had ever shown such an expression on his stream. Seeing it, the viewers' hearts collectively skipped a beat.

What's wrong? Why does Ning Guan master have that look on his face?

Did Ning Guan master see something? Don't scare me!

I have a bad feeling about this!

Surely not!

Only then did the drone's camera slowly pan around.

The viewers finally saw what he was looking at: at the foot of the mountain, an avalanche of boulders and crushed rock had piled up into a small, hill-like mound.

It was the sight of this rock pile that had caused Ning Fei's expression to drastically change.

Are the South China tigers trapped under the rocks?

Judging by Ning Guan master's expression, it looks like it!

That's so sad. How cruel.

Ning Fei took a few steps forward.

He had a sinking feeling that this massive pile of rubble was connected to Da Qun and his mate.

Otherwise, Little falcon wouldn't have failed to spot Da Qun from high up in the sky.

Visibly tense, Ning Fei cautiously called out toward the mound of rocks:

"Da Qun?"

Silence.

Ning Fei could feel his heart hammering in his chest.

Then, a second later, a low, rumbling tiger's roar echoed from deep within the rubble.

"Roar!"

Hearing that roar, the viewers in the stream froze for a second before erupting into absolute cheers.
