Chapter 350: Sky Full of Seabirds, Escaping Sea Turtles, a Bizarre Natural Spectacle!
The first little sea turtle broke out of its shell.
It poked its tiny head out, struggling to free its body from the shell. Wiggling its flippers, it scurried across the white sand, making a beeline for the sea.
Directly in its path waited a massive flock of seabirds.
"It's here! A baby sea turtle!"
"Oh my god, it's so cute!"
"I think any animal is cute when they're babies."
"That's true."
Seeing the sea turtle, everyone marveled.
However, some viewers voiced their concerns.
"It's all alone. Won't it get eaten?""Definitely. It's such an obvious target, and there are so many starving seabirds out there. How could it possibly survive?"
But against all expectations, the little sea turtle crawled all the way across the beach and slipped into the ocean while the seabirds did absolutely nothing.
What was going on?
Everyone was curious.
Ning Fei explained, "This is a fascinating method of communication between species. The first sea turtle acts as a scout, sent out to test the danger."
"If it fails, the rest of the baby turtles under the sand will delay their hatching."
"But if it succeeds, it uses a special method to signal the others."
"The seabirds figured out the sea turtles' habits a long time ago. That's why they don't eat the scout."
Sure enough, right after the first turtle reached the water, the sand across the beach began to shift.
One by one, sea turtles crawled out from the sandy pits.
Over a dozen baby turtles emerged from each nest, scrambling outward together.
It was a genuinely staggering sight.
Countless tiny sea turtles broke out of the sand and dashed toward the ocean, ready to welcome the beginning of their lives.
But a second later, the seabirds made their move.
The sky filled with white seabirds, their wings overlapping as they took to the air.
They dove toward the beach, snapping up sea turtles in a single bite.
The newborns' shells hadn't hardened yet. To the birds, they were like crunchy cartilage—a delicious treat.
The staff from the Protection Station guarded two pathways, fending off the birds to ensure as many hatchlings as possible reached the water.
The beach had become a slaughterhouse for the young turtles.
Whether they embraced life or death was entirely up to the cruel whims of nature.
Ning Fei watched the scene with profound emotion, yet he didn't intervene.
He respected the rules of the wild.
Just then, a running hatchling tripped and flipped over right by his feet. It sank into the sand, belly facing the sky as its four flippers flailed weakly.
Seeing this, Ning Fei crouched down and flipped it right-side up.
The moment it was righted, the turtle scrambled madly toward the sea without even a glance at him.
To them, every second was a matter of life and death.
Ning Fei walked to the shoreline, watching many baby turtles dive enthusiastically into the surf before vanishing into the depths.
Once in the ocean, they would grow strong, eventually climbing the food chain to prey on small fish and shrimp. It was the great circle of life.
The scene on the beach was both chaotic and spectacular.
Seabirds and turtles were everywhere.
Viewers watching this incredible natural spectacle were left utterly breathless.
Nature was truly magnificent!
The drone zoomed in on a single baby sea turtle.
It was extremely cute, its soft shell almost translucent.
The little guy crawled forward with all its might, its four flippers paddling furiously.
Following the hatchling from a first-person perspective, the viewers unconsciously grew tense.
"Come on, my little turtle!"
"So cute! Run as fast as you can!"
"Please don't get eaten!"
"Go, go, go!"
The stream cheered the hatchling on.
In the broadcast feed, seabirds occasionally swooped through the frame.
Every time a white shadow flashed past, the viewers jumped, terrified that their turtle would be swallowed whole.
This particular turtle was smart. As it scurried forward, it actively chose paths behind the hunting birds' backs.
Thanks to this strategy, it remained relatively safe during its mad dash.
The drone kept the close-up locked on it.
The viewers unconsciously clenched their fists, their breathing slowing to a crawl.
Everyone was on edge.
Suddenly, a white seagull plunged directly toward the little turtle in the drone's feed.
"No!"
The audience cried out.
The hatchling had just reached the shoreline and was dragging itself across the wet sand.
It was a critical moment!
Right then, the rising tide surged forward.
Just as the seagull tried to snatch it up, the turtle embraced the water and instantly disappeared beneath the waves.
The seagull snapped at empty air. It immediately turned its head and flew back to hunt the others.
"Beautiful!"
"Awesome!"
"Haha, the little guy made it!"
Delighted, the viewers celebrated the baby turtle's success in the chat.
As fewer and fewer hatchlings emerged, this natural spectacle gradually drew to a close.
Ning Fei let out a sigh. Without saying goodbye to the staff from the Protection Station, he left alone, boarded his yacht at the pier, and set sail.
Nature was ruthless.
But with the Protection Station's efforts, the sea turtle population would slowly recover.
The audience was incredibly satisfied with the broadcast, still buzzing with excitement.
Watching a scene like this on a live stream was far more interesting than watching Animal World.
Ning Fei sat by the edge of the boat. He reduced their speed, letting the vessel drift slowly over the ocean.
The waters around North Island were teeming with sea turtles.
Glancing over the side, he spotted a large turtle swimming past with four or five babies in tow.
This heartwarming sight considerably lightened his mood.
The viewers watched him in quiet appreciation.
The sky had already begun to darken. His side profile looked exceptionally handsome, leaving many viewers swooning.
Suddenly, his expression shifted. He stood up on the bow and, without even taking off his clothes, dove straight into the water.
The stream was stunned.
"What's going on? Did Temple Master Ning just jump into the sea?"
"Is he trying to end it all?"
"Holy crap, why did Temple Master Ning jump in for no reason?!"
"What just happened?"
Amid their alarm, the drone angled its camera toward the waves.
The water churned, but there was no sign of him for quite a while.
Just as everyone was beginning to panic, Ning Fei burst through the surface.
Using a voice command, he ordered the yacht's smart AI to lower the ladder and hauled himself aboard.
While still reeling from his stunt, the audience finally noticed what he was holding—a sea turtle the size of a backpack!
Looking closer, they saw that its shell was completely different from the rest.
It was tied up like a rice dumpling, crisscrossed with steel wire. The wires had deeply embedded themselves into the shell.
Ning Fei set the turtle down on the deck and said, "Human activities negatively impact a lot of marine life."
"There's no telling how long this wire has been wrapped around it. As the turtle grows, the wire only cuts deeper, eventually crippling its normal development."
Retrieving a pair of wire cutters from the cabin, he meticulously snipped the steel loops one by one.
The viewers marveled once again.
It turned out that while he was watching the turtles earlier, he had spotted this trapped one and immediately dove in to help it break free.
His actions deeply warmed everyone's hearts.
Ning Fei removed all the wire and tossed it into the yacht's trash receptacle.
Then, he picked the large turtle back up and tossed it into the ocean.
"Splash!"
The turtle returned to the sea.
Finally freed from its bindings, it swam happily away into the distance.
