Chapter 328: The Exit of the Underground Hidden River is Just a Few Crocodiles
Ning Fei smashed a hole right through the bottom of the Underground Hidden River.
Water immediately surged inside.
The viewers froze for a second at the sight.
Water rushing in meant the space beneath was hollow.
The riverbed was supposed to be solid mountain rock. How could rock just be smashed open?
After all, mountains were solid stone both above and below ground; their structure was fixed.
Yet Ning Fei had shattered the bedrock with his bare hands?
Meanwhile, Ning Fei slipped right through the gap.
The Submarine followed close behind.
Viewership in Ning Fei's stream skyrocketed. On screen, he rode the current into an enclosed, fish-tank-like subterranean pool. Then, he started feeling along the stone ceiling above his head.
The Submarine's camera caught his hands gliding across the rock face.
Suddenly, his hand met empty space and pushed right through.
"It's the exit of the Underground Hidden River!"
"There's actually an exit hidden inside the mountain!"
The viewers were floored.
Ning Fei hauled himself up through the opening.
He didn't take a breath right away. Instead, he checked the data on his watch to confirm the air pressure and oxygen levels were safe.
Pulling a lighter from his Waterproof Bag, he flicked it on.
A steady flame flickered to life, proving there was breathable oxygen.
Only once he was sure it was safe did Ning Fei slowly exhale his stale breath. He took a shallow inhalation, carefully testing the air quality.
His senses were incredibly sharp.
The air was slightly stale, but it caused no physical discomfort. It was safe to breathe.
The System had already upgraded the functions of the Submarine Type A—the Bionic Fish.
Now, the Submarine could also fly.
The viewers couldn't see the device itself, but if someone were standing next to Ning Fei, they would spot a mechanical fish sprouting a pair of rotor-like wings, hovering beside him to broadcast the feed.
This perfectly solved the problem of live-streaming inside a tomb.
Ning Fei then took out a Glow Stick, illuminating his surroundings.
A pitch-black passage stretched out ahead.
Torch sconces lined the walls on both sides.
These were undeniable signs of human construction.
Deep within the mountain, at the very end of the Underground Hidden River, lay a man-made tomb passage.
The stream completely erupted.
"Everyone stand up! Ning Guan master is a legend!"
"Holy crap, it really is a tomb passage! This is insane!"
"Ning Guan master was telling the truth! All that stuff about the stomach, the heart, and nourishing the tomb was actually real!"
"Damn, he figured out the location of such a perfectly hidden tomb with just a few clues. What a god."
"If he'd been born a few centuries ago, he'd be the undisputed king of tomb raiders!"
"Ning Guan master is way too good at finding tombs."
"This isn't an outdoor stream anymore, it's a tomb-raiding stream!"
"Badass!"
The chat was going crazy.
It wasn't just the live chat. Over at the expedition team's camp, their screens were being flooded with the news.
"What? There really is a tomb in that mountain!"
A bitter smile touched Zhang Ke's face when he heard the report.
If he had just gone with Ning Fei, his name would be on the list of the tomb's discoverers. It would have been a massive achievement.
Now, all the credit and glory belonged solely to Ning Fei.
Meanwhile, the tomb his team was currently exploring held nothing but swarms of bats and highly toxic moss. There was absolutely nothing of research value left.
"Sigh."
Zhang Ke let out a helpless sigh.
"This passage slopes upward,"
Ning Fei explained, feeling the incline beneath his feet.
"Because of this design, no matter how much the water level rises, there's a limit to how high it can reach. It'll never flood the tomb itself."
"Brilliant engineering."
One viewer voiced their confusion in the chat:
"How did the ancients build a tomb like this? The waterfall is massive, and you have to travel through an underground river to even get here. I doubt modern construction techniques could pull off excavating a tomb in a place like this."
Seeing the comment, Ning Fei chuckled.
"It's quite simple, actually. When they built the tomb passage, they just diverted the waterfall elsewhere. While the tomb was under construction, this area was completely dry."
"Also, modern engineering is far beyond this level. We can build tunnels under the ocean. Carving out a tomb inside a mountain would be a piece of cake."
With that, Ning Fei continued forward.
Unexpectedly, just a few steps later, a massive Water Pool appeared in his path.
"This Water Pool likely connects to another subterranean river,"
Ning Fei murmured as he approached the edge.
Suddenly, something felt wrong.
He felt as though something was watching him.
"What's going on?"
He swept the Glow Stick across the area, but the pitch-black passage was completely empty.
Seeing the change in his expression, the viewers immediately tensed up.
"Ning Guan master, did you see something?"
The chat rapidly asked.
Ning Fei shook his head. "It's nothing. For a second there, I felt like something had its eyes on me. It was probably just my imagination."
Humans were prone to such feelings—or perhaps, such instincts.
When someone was staring at you, you could feel their gaze even without looking at them.
It was a strange phenomenon, one that science couldn't fully explain.
"Ning Guan master, don't scare yourself."
"In a pitch-black, claustrophobic place like that, I would've been too terrified to even walk."
"Anyone would be creeped out in there."
Just as the viewers were discussing this, the unimaginable happened.
On the stream, Ning Fei raised his Glow Stick and slowly approached the edge, leaning in to illuminate the Water Pool.
A split second later, a massive shadow burst out of the water like a launched missile, its jaws opened wide!
The broadcast was shot in a first-person perspective. The sudden jump scare sent a violent shudder through the audience, terrifying countless viewers so badly they dropped their mobile phones.
Some jolted so hard they stumbled backward and fell flat on their asses, feeling as though the monster was lunging straight out of the screen at them.
"Holy shit!"
"What the hell was that?!"
The viewers screamed in sheer panic.
The viewership was already at staggering levels, and since Douniao Live had given Ning Fei his own dedicated front-page channel, millions of people were watching.
Everyone was scared out of their minds.
By the time they regained their bearings and focused on the screen, they were met with an unforgettable sight.
A crocodile nearly the size of a grown man was suspended vertically in the air, its hulking frame looking like an absolute monster.
But right there, holding the beast aloft, was Ning Fei. His hand was clamped squarely under the crocodile's lower jaw, propping the beast's entire weight off the ground. The crocodile was completely immobilized, its hind legs thrashing wildly in a desperate attempt to find its balance.
"It's a crocodile."
"A crocodile's weak point is its lower jaw. It's just like grabbing a snake by its neck. As long as you can force its chin up, it loses its ability to attack."
"Assuming you have the arm strength for it, of course."
Ning Fei's calm, educational tone echoed through the stream.
Hearing his words, the viewers were on the verge of tears.
'Ning Guan master, can you please read the room?!'
'We know it's a crocodile!'
'And we couldn't care less that its weakness is its lower jaw!'
'We practically wet ourselves in terror! How are you completely unfazed when you're the one holding the damn thing?!'
But before the audience could even catch their breath, something even worse happened.
Within the dark waters of the Water Pool, two more massive crocodiles slowly surfaced. Revealing the upper halves of their heads, they began gliding silently toward Ning Fei.
Every viewer's nerves snapped completely taut once again.
"Well then, this tomb is quite interesting."
"A moat of crocodiles right at the entrance."
"I wonder what else is waiting inside?"
Ning Fei's nonchalant voice drifted casually through the stream.
Hearing his reaction, millions of viewers collectively felt their lips twitch.
