Chapter 315: Hot-Blooded Mountain Village, The Clash Between the Village Dog Gang and the Goose Faction
The government sent people to take the water monkey away, and nothing more was heard of the matter.
Ning Fei didn't pay it much attention either.
However, Qin Zheng still needed to ensure there wasn't a second water monkey in the Xi River to prevent similar issues from arising.
He asked Ning Fei to use his Bionic Fish to patrol the river a few more times.
Ning Fei checked several more times and confirmed that there were no other water monkeys in the Xi River.
His method was quite scientific, but that wasn't how the village chief explained it to the villagers.
The village chief claimed that Daoist Master Ning had performed a ritual to exorcise the evil spirits from the Xi River, so everyone could swim and fish with peace of mind.
Ning Fei hadn't wanted to take on such a reputation, but since the deed was done, he let it be.
Over at the South Lake.
The black bear had finally woken up.After starving for an entire winter, it couldn't stop eating the moment it woke.
Fortunately, the fish in the South Lake were large and abundant, so there was no fear of it eating them all.
Ning Fei went to inspect the South Lake and found that the fish population was so large it was starting to affect the local ecology. He contacted a seafood company at the bottom of the mountain and sold off a portion of the fish.
Given the high quality of the fish, the seafood company offered a very good price.
Ning Fei hadn't expected to turn a profit so quickly after contracting the reservoir.
At this moment, Ning Fei was out on the lake, fishing.
As he sat in his boat looking out over the water, his mind drifted back to the water monkey.
With his Encyclopedia, he could tell that the water monkey was a mutated species of ape. It had grown up in the water, possessed excellent swimming abilities, and had a rather vicious temperament.
How did such a thing end up in the Xi River?
After catching a few fish to relax his mood, Ning Fei paddled his wooden boat back to the shore.
As soon as he reached the bank, he saw the black bear swatting at something in the area. It looked almost as if it were dancing, continuously swiping its thick paws through the air.
"What is this silly bear doing?" the viewers asked with a laugh when they saw the scene.
Ning Fei found it strange as well. Why would Xiaoxiong suddenly start dancing for no reason?
He walked over to take a look, but the relaxed expression on his face gradually turned solemn.
"Hornets! There are two hornets right next to Xiaoxiong!"
Ning Fei's voice was extremely serious.
"What's the big deal about hornets?"
"Yeah, aren't they just a few bees?"
"Do you guys really not know how dangerous hornets are? Other than being a bit small, those things are practically flying killing machines!"
"Don't even mention it. I got stung by a hornet when I was a kid. If they hadn't rushed me to the hospital in time, I probably wouldn't be alive to watch Temple Master Ning's stream today."
At this time, Ning Fei explained, "Hornets have always been a major taboo in Qinshan Village. Actually, no matter if it's in a rural village or a city, a hornet's nest must be dealt with as quickly as possible."
"To local bees and honeybees, hornets are terrifying entities."
"There was once a documentary episode on Man and Nature that showed how hornets send out scouts to find beehives. Then, they swarm out in full force to raid the honey, slaughter the bees, and eat the queen."
"After they leave, the ruined beehives are left utterly packed with the corpses of bees bitten completely in half."
"Nature is cruel. It gave hornets mandibles like crab claws, but gave bees mouths only capable of sucking nectar. When faced with a hornet attack, the bees' only method of defense is to swarm it tightly and use the heat generated by their movement to roast the hornet alive."
"During this process, the bees are continuously bitten to death by the hornet, but they have no other choice. They lack any defensive measures and can only rely on their higher heat tolerance to strike back."
Ning Fei quietly recounted the facts.
Only after hearing this story did the viewers truly understand the cruelty of nature.
But wasn't the human world much the same?
For instance, during the era of overseas colonization, those men wielding long rifles and enslaving the indigenous people through sheer force were essentially acting like hornets themselves.
"That's only one reason. The most important point is that hornets are highly venomous."
"If a young child gets stung by a hornet, there is a high chance they won't even survive the trip to the hospital."
"It looks like there's a hornet's nest nearby."
"I have to figure out a way to get rid of it."
Ning Fei fell into thought.
"Poking a hornet's nest live? Is it going to be that thrilling?"
"Just call the firefighters. I've seen videos of firefighters using blowtorches to burn hornet's nests on telephone poles. Those pillars of fire are incredibly intense."
"The hornet's nest is deep in the woods. How is a fire engine supposed to get in there?"
"Firefighters generally ignore hornet's nests out in the mountains. Otherwise, they'd be worked to death."
Seeing the hornets, Ning Fei knew this threat had to be eliminated as soon as possible. Otherwise, it would be disastrous if someone happened to pass by and got stung.
Despite being highly skilled and daring—capable of reaching for the moon in the ninth heaven or catching turtles in the five oceans, perfectly fine with punching black bears or subduing tigers—none of that mattered here.
Yet, the one thing he didn't dare to do was tackle a hornet's nest bare-handed.
If a dense swarm of hornets rushed at him, Huaxia martial arts wouldn't be able to save him.
If he acted like a reckless fool, the outcome would likely be:
He would be seen performing a handsome routine of Wudang Bagua chain palms amidst a tornado of hornets, only to end up dying so gruesomely that the villagers wouldn't even dare to identify his body.
"I'll need to make a trip to the northern part of the village and get Cui Feng over here."
Having made up his mind, Ning Fei set off immediately and headed north toward the edge of the village.
Cui Feng was a beekeeper who lived in the northern part of the village. Since he raised honeybees, he undoubtedly hated hornets more than anyone else.
Every time he moved his beehives, he would roam all over the mountains, searching for any existing hornet's nests.
As Ning Fei approached the northern side of the village, his timing turned out to be impeccable.
From a distance, he could hear a chorus of loud barks and aggressive honks.
Drawing closer and looking for himself, he realized that the pack of local dogs from the eastern part of the village and the large geese from the northern part of the village were actually fighting!
This was quite the famous scene.
The animals in the village, especially the local dogs, loved to pick fights when they had nothing better to do.
It seemed that this time, unwilling to suffer under the oppression of the Goose Faction any longer, they had decided to rise up in rebellion.
"Holy crap, what am I looking at?"
The viewers were stunned for a few seconds when they saw the scene on the stream.
Then, the chat immediately boiled over.
"Hot-blooded mountain village, the war has begun!"
"Temple Master Ning, hurry up and have Little Dog rally the South Village's Village Dog Gang! How can the South Village miss out on a scene like this!"
"Temple Master Ning, why don't you join in yourself? It's the perfect chance to prove that you're the manliest guy in Qinshan Village."
"The manliest guy? Isn't that Zhang Wei?"
"Good heavens, I can't believe we get to see a spectacle like this. So satisfying!"
Not far away, it was complete pandemonium—geese flying and dogs jumping.
Those large geese usually looked quite docile, but when it came to a fight, each one was fiercer than the last.
They used their wings and beaks as weapons, occasionally even leaping into the air to body-slam the dogs with their rears.
The local dogs were no match for them at all. After just a few clashes, they let out a couple of whimpers and fled with their tails tucked between their legs.
It was normal for the animals in the village to fight occasionally, and the villagers were used to it.
However, Ning Fei noticed that the viewers really enjoyed watching such spectacles.
"The local dogs in the village fight every single day, but this is the first time they've provoked the geese."
"There must be some sort of conflict between them."
"But they're definitely no match for those large geese."
Ning Fei commented briefly before continuing on his way.
The viewers noticed that as Ning Fei walked, he deliberately took a slight detour to avoid the flock of geese.
It wasn't that Ning Fei couldn't beat them, but the geese were raised by the villagers. Marching straight over and stirring up a bloodbath simply wouldn't be very appropriate.
Ning Fei arrived at the northern side of the village and headed deeper into the area.
He followed a small path until he reached the Canyon. The beehives were still neatly lined up there, and a black bear was sitting beside them, bored out of its mind while basking in the sun.
"That's the black bear Old Cui raised," Ning Fei said.
Just then, Cui Feng heard the commotion outside and walked over.
"Ning Fei, what's going on?"
"I contracted the South Lake and discovered hornets there," Ning Fei explained his purpose. "I was hoping to ask you to come over and help me get rid of the hornet's nest together, or at least borrow a Protective Suit."
"A hornet's nest? There's one over on the south side?"
Hearing Ning Fei's words, Cui Feng perked up immediately.
"Let's go, let's go, we'll head over right now. I've actually been wanting to find some hornet pupae to steep in my liquor. Hornet pupae are a fantastic treasure."
As he spoke, Cui Feng started gathering his tools.
Protective Suits, a blowtorch, tools for harvesting pupae, and the like.
Seeing this setup, the viewers silently mourned for the hornet swarm for a few seconds.
As the apex predators of the bee world, the hornets committed all sorts of evils—burning, killing, and pillaging.
They could never have imagined that to deal with them, Temple Master Ning had invited such a ruthless destroyer!
