Chapter 292: Snow Leopard Guards, So Cool

  • Next Chapter

What was supposed to be a heartwarming reunion between Ning Fei and Da Long completely flipped on its head.

The snow leopard sprinting toward Ning Fei wasn't Da Long.

That blistering speed wasn't a greeting; it was a hunt.

The atmosphere turned instantly tense.

Watching the big, plump leopard galloping through the snow—especially from the perspective of its prey—the viewers couldn't help but panic.

"Holy shit!"

"It's hunting!"

"Run!"

Right then, Ning Fei simply set his hiking bag on the ground.

Out here in the snowy mountains, there was no way to outrun a snow leopard.

The only option left was to face it head-on.

Seeing Ning Fei's actions, the viewers were dumbfounded all over again.

The old fans knew Temple Master Ning was just warming up, but the new viewers couldn't help but ask:

"What is this streamer doing?"

"Delivering takeout to the snow leopard?"

Before long, the big, plump leopard lunged.

When cheetahs and tigers hunt, they actually aim their pounces relatively low, going straight for a person's neck and chest.

Therefore, the fabled "sliding tackle" maneuver was practically impossible.

The snow leopard was incredibly fast and hit with immense force. Its claws swiped at Ning Fei's shoulders while it threw its massive jaws wide, looking like it wanted to rip his neck right out.

Ning Fei wanted to stretch his limbs anyway. Besides, the snow leopard's fur was incredibly thick; roughhousing a little wouldn't hurt it.

So, Ning Fei stepped back slightly, using Tai Chi techniques to deflect some of the snow leopard's forward momentum.

Then, Ning Fei simply scooped the snow leopard up into his arms.

With his current monstrous speed and strength, dealing with a single snow leopard was naturally a piece of cake.

"Awoo~"

The snow leopard let out a ferocious cry, but Ning Fei still tossed it right into the snowbank behind him.

The snow leopard scrambled back to its feet. Crouching low to the ground, it circled Ning Fei, adopting an aggressive stance.

"Is this streamer really that badass?" a new viewer asked.

"Did you think those old videos were fake? Without any real skills, would Temple Master Ning dare to stroll through a no-man's land so leisurely?"

"Bro, you'll get used to it. I was even more shocked than you back in the day."

"Right now, Temple Master Ning is a true immortal in my eyes."

"He's just beating up a snow leopard, no big deal. Just expand your horizons and you'll be fine."

"Yeah, he's just beating up a Class-A nationally protected animal in a live-stream with millions of viewers. As if we haven't all seen that before."

"Let me clarify on Temple Master Ning's behalf: this is called self-defense. It's completely legal."

Ning Fei played with the snow leopard for a while.

At this moment, the snow leopard was exceptionally speechless.

It had been filled with bloodlust, fully intending to hunt the two-legged beast standing before it.

Yet the other party was treating it like an oversized toy.

"Come on, big chubby leopard, pounce again!" Finding this highly entertaining, Ning Fei waved his hand, gesturing for the snow leopard to try again.

The snow leopard let out a vicious huff of breath.

Every single time it attacked, Ning Fei caught it with ease and tossed it away.

This was because Ning Fei also had to be mindful of a wild beast's close-combat prowess. If he got too close to the snow leopard, a single scratch or bite could severely injure him.

Therefore, tossing the snow leopard aside—or slamming it into the ground before stepping back—was the best countermeasure.

Seeing that the snow leopard had stopped attacking, Ning Fei shook his head and said, "Forget it, I won't tease you anymore."

'Qilin Deterrence!'

He silently activated the skill of the Qilin Jade Pendant hanging on his chest. In an instant, an invisible aura erupted from Ning Fei's body.

It was the presence of the ancient divine beast, the Qilin.

All beasts under heaven had no choice but to submit.

The moment the snow leopard felt that aura, it immediately took two steps back, its expression filling with panic and confusion.

"I mean you no harm. Don't be afraid."

Ning Fei crouched down and spoke to it softly.

Seeing this scene, the viewers were highly amused.

"He literally just beat the crap out of it, and now he says he means no harm."

The snow leopard's demeanor slowly shifted. Just a moment ago, it had been fierce, baring its teeth and wrinkling its snout.

Now, it displayed zero hostility, instead appearing entirely pacified.

"It's back! Temple Master Ning's Beast Taming Technique!"

"I'm genuinely curious how he communicates with animals."

"The snow leopard became instantly obedient, so badass!"

Noting the snow leopard's reaction, Ning Fei slowly reached out, looking like he wanted to pet it.

He was just testing the waters, moving very slowly and keeping himself ready to yank his hand back at any moment.

The snow leopard looked slightly resistant, but it didn't overly struggle.

After Ning Fei stroked its fur a few times, the snow leopard discovered that it actually felt pretty good and just plopped down onto the snow.

Seeing his taming attempt succeed, Ning Fei broke into a smile.

However, at that exact moment, the viewers noticed another figure sprinting down from the hillside in the distance.

The drone pivoted its lens, locked onto the moving target, and zoomed in.

Now everyone could see it clearly: the animal charging down the slope was actually another snow leopard.

"Aren't snow leopards incredibly rare? How are we seeing two in such a short amount of time?"

"If you hung around the Kunlun Mountains Valley of Death for a bit, you'd see one too. Whether you'd survive the encounter, though, is another story."

"That one looks like Da Long."

"Well, this is awkward. Temple Master Ning is happily petting another snow leopard, and Da Long, who just rushed over, caught him in the act."

"Hahaha, caught red-handed cheating!"

"Da Long: Pah, human men are all scumbags."

Just as the viewers predicted, the newly arrived snow leopard was indeed Da Long.

Before long, Da Long had sprinted up to within just a few yards of Ning Fei.

He saw Ning Fei crouching on the ground, rubbing the belly of another snow leopard.

Ning Fei also heard the commotion and turned his head to look at Da Long.

For a moment, the atmosphere was incredibly awkward.

Thankfully, Ning Fei was quick on his feet.

He looked at Da Long and said, "Da Long, take a look at the wife I found for you. Are you satisfied?"

The snow leopard Ning Fei was currently petting was female, and Da Long was male.

So, putting it that way actually made perfect sense.

Hearing this, the viewers instantly cracked up.

"Temple Master Ning is truly a quick-witted genius!"

"Petting another snow leopard is one thing, but being able to spin it like that? I bow to him!"

"When a guy gets caught cheating, he always manages to come up with an excuse at the very first second."

"The Temple Master's lips are slick enough to trick a ghost!"

At this moment, the snow leopard beside Ning Fei stood up and locked eyes with Da Long.

Generally speaking, snow leopards chose to cohabitate during mating season, but lived solitary lives on normal days.

Of course, there were exceptions.

Since the two snow leopards were of the same species and didn't have any territorial disputes, they would generally get along quite well.

They approached each other, gently bumping their heads together and lightly sniffing each other's scents as if they were communicating.

Ning Fei was quite surprised to see this.

He had just been making an offhand joke earlier, but looking at them now, it might actually come true.

He really had found a snow leopard wife for Da Long.

Afterward, Ning Fei didn't waste any more time.

He slung his hiking bag over his back and said to the two snow leopards, "Let's go. We're going to check out Da Long's house to see if you're satisfied."

Da Long's den was nestled on the leeward side of the slope. In these endless snowy mountains, it was already considered a prime piece of real estate.

Ning Fei intentionally wanted to play matchmaker for the two snow leopards.

After all, a man with a house naturally had an easier time finding a wife.

With that, Ning Fei continued his trek up the mountain.

The two snow leopards followed him, one on the left and one on the right, looking just like a pair of bodyguards.

The scene was incredibly cool.

Having two Class-A nationally protected animals willingly follow someone around as their bodyguards—a spectacle like this could only ever happen in Ning Fei's Live-stream Room.

Watching this unfold, the viewers couldn't help but marvel, "These snow leopard guards look so damn badass!"
