Chapter 290: Little Dog's Mid-air Layup Skills

  • Next Chapter

In the past, Bai Yi had spent her evenings in her room, video chatting with her best friends or browsing the internet. It was relaxing, but always a little boring.

Now, she preferred hanging out in Ning Fei's room, playing with the little animals. It was much more fun.

Ning Fei sat at his desk, checking the map on his mobile phone.

Bai Yi leaned over the desk beside him, poking her head in to get a look.

"Brother, what are you looking at?" Bai Yi asked.

"The map. I'm planning to head out after Dust Sweeping Day is over," Ning Fei replied.

"You're leaving again?"

Ning Fei turned to look at her.

Bai Yi was wearing thin, lightweight loungewear. For the sake of comfort, it was naturally quite loose.

Leaning over like that, the top easily gaped open.

The moment Ning Fei turned his head, his gaze landed squarely on that gaping neckline.

He paused.

Catching the direction of his gaze, Bai Yi's face immediately flushed red. "Brother, what are you looking at?" she huffed.

Ning Fei's expression didn't change at all. He simply asked, "Where did you get that pendant?"

Bai Yi looked down, finally realizing that when she had leaned over the desk, her pendant had slipped out.

That was exactly what Ning Fei had been staring at.

Realizing her misunderstanding, she hurriedly explained, "Brother, my mom gave this to me. I've worn it since I was a kid."

"Can I see it?"

"Of course."

Bai Yi took off the necklace and handed it over. Ning Fei rested the pendant in his palm to examine it.

It was a jade carving of what looked like a Bodhisattva, but unlike the common ones ordinary people wore, it resembled a heavenly maiden, practically radiating an ethereal aura.

Ning Fei studied it for a moment, then handed it back without another word.

Taking the pendant, Bai Yi still felt embarrassed. A wave of guilt washed over her.

To think she had misunderstood such a good brother—she was really out of line.

Seeing Ning Fei's thoroughly calm expression only made her feel more ashamed.

Ning Fei went back to his mobile phone's map.

He zoomed in.

'The Mountain Guardian Tribe worships the Bagua.'

'In Huaxia culture, just like the concept of yin and yang or the five elements, the Bagua is a tool used to deduce the spatial and temporal relationships of all things in the world.'

Ning Fei recalled the stone carvings he had seen.

'The engraving on that statue's belt had two broken lines on top and one solid line on the bottom. That's the Zhen trigram in the Bagua.'

'I didn't know the sculptures were connected to the Bagua before, so I didn't pay much attention.'

'In the Bagua, Qian represents Heaven, Kun represents Earth, Xun represents Wind, and Zhen represents Thunder.'

'If we map the Kunlun Mountain Range onto a Bagua Diagram, using true north as the orientation, and Zhen sits in this position...'

'Then Qian would be here... Kun roughly here... Xun here... and Kan right here...'

Staring at the map, Ning Fei gradually realized something was off.

Because once he pinned down the other positions, the center of the Bagua landed squarely on the Valley of Death!

It felt like a coincidence, yet at the same time, utterly predetermined.

'If the center of the ritual is the Valley of Death...'

'Then I'll have to make another trip there!'

Studying the map, Ning Fei silently made up his mind.

Beside him, Bai Yi blinked as she watched him deep in thought.

"Brother, what's on your mind?" she asked.

Pulling himself out of his thoughts, Ning Fei smiled. "Just looking for interesting places in the Kunlun Mountains."

"Brother, I want to ask you a slightly private question." Looking a bit shy, Bai Yi sat down on the bed beside him. The mattress was incredibly soft, and she sank slightly into the cushions.

"Go ahead." Ning Fei remained perfectly calm, failing to notice her evasive gaze.

"Brother, do you know much about medicine? Like, physical conditioning and things like that. My mom always says my dad's lineage is the absolute best at maintaining health and keeping their bodies in peak condition. I figured you must be the same."

Ning Fei thought back to his childhood at Qingfeng Temple. It was a meager life, but everything they ate and drank were genuine treasures provided by nature in the mountains. He nodded. "I know a bit."

He then added, "Are you having health issues? Your complexion is rosy, so you should be in perfectly good health."

At his question, Bai Yi's face flushed an even deeper shade of red.

"Brother, I just wanted to ask... I wanted to..." Her voice grew softer and softer until it was barely a whisper.

"Ask what?"

"I wanted to ask... does traditional Chinese medicine have anything good for breast enhancement? Back in high school, I had a female classmate who was more developed than even our teachers, and I kind of wanted..."

Ning Fei looked down at her. The atmosphere in the room instantly plummeted into maximum awkwardness.

Even the little animals, who had been playfully wrestling a moment ago, sensed the shift in the mood and froze in place.

The room fell completely silent.

Inside her slippers, Bai Yi's slender toes curled tightly together. Right now, she wanted nothing more than to find a crack in the floorboards and dive straight in.

Snapping out of his daze, Ning Fei hastily rattled off, "Mix Ginseng, pinellia, poria, tangerine peel, atractylodes, and honey-fried licorice with water. Boil it into a soup and let it cool until it's lukewarm. It promotes breast enhancement and nourishes the skin."

"Medicine only stimulates the process, though. You also need some external stimulation. If you have free time, you can massage them yourself..."

"Brother! Stop talking!" Bai Yi's face was completely crimson.

Bai Yi had a slender figure and great bodily proportions. This was her only flaw, and it had always bothered her. Lin Chu had once mentioned how exceptionally skilled the people of Qingfeng Temple were at maintaining the body. Seized by some bizarre impulse, Bai Yi had actually gone and asked him about it.

"I'm leaving! Good night, Brother."

Her heart pounding a mile a minute, Bai Yi covered her face and scrambled out of the room.

Ning Fei's expression barely wavered.

Right on cue, Xiao Feng let out an incredibly ill-timed squawk. "Pervert brother! Pervert brother!" Ning Fei grumpily tossed a Red Phoenix Pill at the bird, which finally shut the little guy up.

.

The next morning, Ning Fei turned on his live stream.

The viewers saw Ning Fei standing in a courtyard, carrying pieces of furniture outside to scrub them down. Everyone quickly noticed that he wasn't wearing his Daoist Robe today.

"Hello, everyone."

"Today is Dust Sweeping Day. I'm over at my master's house doing a deep clean of the place."

"My Daoist Robe is currently being smoked with incense. It's a special blend made of honey, jujube cake, angelica water, and wax. That's why I'm not wearing it right now."

"Smoking the robe with incense for twelve hours, followed by bathing, changing clothes, and chanting prayers—it's an annual tradition at Qingfeng Temple."

Hearing his explanation, the viewers immediately understood.

"Is this the old Temple Master's courtyard? It's gorgeous."

"Yeah! Look over there, he even has a pigeon coop."

"Wait, did the old Temple Master really just invite Ning Guan master over to do chores?"

"Where's the old Temple Master? Let us see him!"

The viewers were full of enthusiasm.

Bai Yuanche had gone off to clean up the horse farm and wasn't home. Lin Chu was out grocery shopping. Because of this, the chore of cleaning the house fell squarely onto Ning Fei and Bai Yi's shoulders.

Naturally, Bai Yuanche and Lin Chu wouldn't be appearing on stream today.

Lin Chu usually handled the tidying up, but Bai Yuanche had insisted that since it was Dust Sweeping Day, the youngsters needed to pull their weight. Both Ning Fei and Bai Yi had readily agreed.

Ning Fei went back to scrubbing down the courtyard.

Little Dog stuck right by his side.

"Little Dog, take this trash to the bins outside."

Ning Fei tied off a black garbage bag and handed it over. Looking thrilled by the task, Little Dog clamped his jaws around the bag and sprinted out of the yard.

The drone trailed behind him, broadcasting the trip.

The viewers saw a designated garbage collection zone a short distance from the villa's courtyard, lined with several large green dumpsters.

Clamping tightly onto the bag, Little Dog broke into a sprint. The moment he reached the perfect distance, he launched himself into the air, whipped his head around, and launched the trash bag straight into the open bin.

The entire motion was incredibly fluid, completed in one breath.

Watching this unfold, the viewers couldn't stop themselves from collectively screaming, "Holy shit!"

"Did that dog just do a layup?"

"What am I watching right now? That shooting form is better than my roommate's!"

"Look at this god-tier pet! Not only does he take out the trash, but he dunks it too!"

"That was so fucking sick!"

"Good boy!"

"!"

The stream erupted into a chorus of cheers and shock.

Having successfully disposed of the trash, Little Dog spun around and trotted back to the villa with his head held high.

When Ning Fei finally took a moment from his chores to glance at the chat, he found the screen flooded with people begging him to make Little Dog throw away more trash.

Ning Fei let out a helpless laugh.

Who would have guessed that everyone would be so entertained by a dog taking out the garbage?

Fortunately, since today was a deep cleaning day, they had prepped quite a few garbage bags. There was still plenty of trash left to toss.

And so began Little Dog's personal solo exhibition.

Every time he leaped into the air and whipped his head to sink another bag into the bin, the chat exploded with cheers and donations.

The hype in the live stream only continued to soar.
