Chapter 286: Little Tibetan Antelope: Motherfucker

  • Next Chapter

"This is a true story that actually happened."

"A female reporter followed a ranger patrol from the Protection Station to photograph Tibetan antelopes. When she saw a thirsty little antelope, she tried to feed it some water from a basin."

"Seeing this, the patrol captain immediately kicked the water basin over and drove the little Tibetan antelope away with rocks."

"Facing the angry reporter, the patrol captain only said,"

"'In Kekexili, never let a Tibetan antelope believe that humans are kind.'"

Ning Fei sat in the trunk of the car, gently petting Little Fox. His voice carried a touch of sorrow.

This was a national nature reserve where poaching had once been incredibly severe. However, with increased management efforts in recent years, the situation had gradually improved.

Decades ago, Kekexili had millions of Tibetan antelopes.

Now, there were only twenty to thirty thousand left.

It was easy to imagine just how many of them had died under the guns of poachers.

Little Fox seemed to sense Ning Fei's sadness, whimpering softly in his arms.

Little Dog and Little Fei lay off to the side, uncharacteristically still, as if they too could feel his low spirits.

Only then did the viewers understand why Ning Fei had used rocks to drive away that little Tibetan antelope earlier.

"So that's why. Temple Master Ning is truly thoughtful."

"I wrongly blamed Temple Master Ning."

"Reality might be crueler than we imagine. You can't just act out of the goodness of your heart everywhere."

"Even though the Tibetan antelope is a rare animal in our Huaxia, I also hope they never believe humans are good people."

"Why am I tearing up listening to Temple Master Ning's story?"

Ning Fei then continued, "The Kekexili Nature Reserve is the only place where even herdsmen are forbidden to enter."

"Tourists can enter after registering and passing inspections, but they must abide by Kekexili's rules."

"If wild animals appear, you cannot stop the car or disturb them. You can only watch from afar."

"Here, just being able to see these animals from a distance is already a blessing from nature."

"Watching a herd of Tibetan antelopes running freely in the distance, or a group of Tibetan wild asses grazing leisurely on a hilltop—these are incredibly peaceful scenes."

By this time, Ning Fei had finished eating. He played with the little guys for a while before driving further into the reserve.

The field of view in the Kekexili Nature Reserve was even wider than on the Great Grassland.

If there was one major difference between the two, it was that the 'sky' here looked remarkably low.

The massive white clouds seemed to hover just out of reach overhead.

Looking off into the distance, the end of the horizon appeared to seamlessly merge with the sky.

It was no wonder some people called this 'the closest place to heaven.'

It didn't take long for Ning Fei to drive up to a Protection Station within the Kekexili Nature Reserve.

"Look over there. That's the Protection Station!"

The viewers had already spotted a courtyard and a few buildings in the distance, exclaiming in pleasant surprise.

"Goodness, the surroundings here are so desolate."

"But you can see wild animals at any time."

"Everyone pursues different things. Here, you can feel a sense of peace in your soul."

Ning Fei drove straight toward the Protection Station.

His entire reason for entering Kekexili this time was to visit the Protection Station.

What Ning Fei didn't expect was that people were already waiting outside for him before he even arrived.

It was a middle-aged man and a young man. Both had typical local features—deeply tanned skin and facial structures characteristic of ethnic minorities.

"Welcome, Temple Master Ning."

The middle-aged man looked simple and honest. Although he spoke with a regional accent, he gave off an incredibly friendly vibe.

Ning Fei got out of the car and politely shook his hand.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm the station master of the Protection Station. My name is Bianba Zhaxi, but you can call me Bianzha."

"You're looking to visit Kekexili, right? I received the notice early this morning."

Bianzha was exceptionally enthusiastic. It was clear that he liked Ning Fei a lot.

"Notice?" Ning Fei asked in confusion.

"Yeah, a notice from above. They said you were coming and to just approve it directly."

Ning Fei looked a little stunned. He hadn't expected this at all.

Normally, entering the Kekexili Reserve required passing an inspection by the Protection Station. It was extremely rare for an approval to be granted in advance like this.

"Awesome, Temple Master Ning!"

"So Temple Master Ning has connections in high places."

"He's a trendsetter now. You guys have no idea how many times the higher-ups have praised him."

"It's probably a commendation from the Kunlun Government for his discovery of the stone chamber and carvings."

Regardless, Ning Fei still planned to stay at the Protection Station for a while.

He let Little Dog and Little Fei down, and the two little guys immediately started running around the courtyard.

It was obvious that Bianzha loved dogs. Upon seeing Little Dog, he went into his room and brought out two cans of meat he had been saving for himself to feed the pup.

Little Dog looked at Ning Fei, asking for permission.

"Go ahead," Ning Fei said with a smile, nodding.

Only then did Little Dog excitedly dig in.

The two young men nearby were both volunteers at the Protection Station.

Chatting with them, Ning Fei learned that there was an online registration system for volunteers wanting to protect the Tibetan antelopes. The term was one month, and new people arrived every month.

There were also a few veterans here. Station master Bianba Zhaxi was one of them, and a few others had driven out into the reserve for a patrol today.

Not long after, Bianzha walked over.

He showed Ning Fei around the Protection Station. When Ning Fei saw a staff member feeding a little Tibetan antelope in the back, he froze.

He asked, "Are we allowed to feed Tibetan antelopes now?"

Bianzha explained, "Yeah. These Tibetan antelopes lost their parents right after birth. If we don't rescue them, they won't survive. Once they can take care of themselves, they'll be released back into the wild."

"But doesn't Kekexili have a rule against letting Tibetan antelopes get close to humans?" Ning Fei asked.

Hearing this, Bianzha burst out laughing.

"Poaching used to be severe. That rule only existed because Kekexili was drowning in the gloom of animal slaughter."

"Now, it's very well protected here. We have drones and patrol teams, all well-equipped. The punishments are severe, so you almost never see poachers anymore."

"In today's Kekexili, the sky is blue and people's hearts are pure. Naturally, we can coexist with the Tibetan antelopes in a friendly way."

Bianzha smiled brightly as he spoke. It was clear that the ecology of this place had truly improved.

Ning Fei, however, gave a bitter smile and shook his head helplessly.

So this place had already become so beautiful.

He had been too stubborn, clinging to the old belief that Tibetan antelopes couldn't be allowed to think humans were good.

That little Tibetan antelope earlier just wanted to get close to him, yet he had chased it away with rocks.

'I'm sorry,' Ning Fei said silently in his heart.

Seeing Ning Fei's bitter smile, the viewers guessed what he was thinking.

Casting aside their earlier gloom, the mood in the stream lightened up.

"That little Tibetan antelope originally thought life was beautiful, only to get scared off by Temple Master Ning."

"The little Tibetan antelope was probably thinking: Motherfucker, why did you throw rocks at me?"

Watching the little Tibetan antelope eating weeds in front of him, Ning Fei felt his mood lift.

Up close, the little Tibetan antelope was incredibly cute. Right now, this particular one was smacking its lips, staring innocently at Ning Fei.

"The Tibetan antelope is also a national treasure of our country."

"Take the Olympic Fuwa, for example. Beibei is a carp, representing prosperity year after year. Jingjing is a panda, our national treasure. Huanhuan is the Olympic flame."

"Yingying is the Tibetan antelope, representing agility, alertness, and good wishes for health."

"And Nini is a swallow kite, taking the form of a swallow spreading its wings to fly."

"The fact that the Tibetan antelope was chosen as an Olympic Fuwa alongside the giant panda shows just how important it is to Huaxia's culture."

Ning Fei explained this as he watched the Tibetan antelope.

Listening from the side, Bianba Zhaxi nodded repeatedly, sighing in admiration in his heart:

'He really is an intellectual. That was beautifully said.'

Right then, Bianba Zhaxi received a phone call.

It turned out that during the patrol, one of the ranger team's vehicles had broken down. A part had failed, forcing them to stop and wait for rescue.

The patrol team had taken three off-road vehicles in total, carrying six people.

They were calling for assistance, asking the Protection Station to deliver a replacement part.

Hearing the news, Ning Fei said, "Station Master Bianzha, let me go as well."

"I've been wanting to experience the patrol work with the rangers anyway."

Bianzha smiled at his request.

"That's great. The Protection Station is short on hands right now."

Bianzha happily agreed.

Soon after, Ning Fei drove off with the spare part, heading straight into the depths of the Kekexili National Nature Reserve.

At the same time, he explained to his viewers, "Next up, I'll be livestreaming the process of patrolling Kekexili with the rangers for everyone."
