Chapter 276: That Daoist Priest Seems to Be Temple Master Ning

  • Next Chapter

The next day, Ning Fei woke up around six-thirty in the morning. It was still pitch black outside.

He took out his mobile phone and checked it. The live stream's popularity still hovered at over a million, which was already incredibly high.

It made sense, though. Since doctors always warned against staying up late, many people simply chose to pull an all-nighter instead.

"Morning, Temple Master Ning!"

"Good morning."

As soon as he brought out his mobile phone, a few viewers immediately greeted him in the bullet comments.

Ning Fei smiled and replied, "Morning."

It was worth noting that because Ning Fei rarely used his mobile phone outside of checking the stream, its battery lasted a very long time.

Even if it ran out of power, he could always use the drone to charge it.

Da Long woke up as well. He turned his head to glance at Ning Fei, checked the pitch-black sky outside, and promptly laid back down to sleep, looking incredibly lazy.

For a wild beast, time spent not hunting was mostly time spent resting.

Very few animals were as hardworking as humans, willing to wake up at six-thirty in the morning.

The little falcon flew out as well, stretching its talons and ruffling its feathers to warm up.

Ning Fei first stepped outside the Mountain Cave to relieve himself, then returned inside to wait for the sky to clear.

'I need to head back first.'

'This trip was a bit rushed. I didn't expect to run into an avalanche.'

'But getting to experience an avalanche firsthand makes the trip worthwhile.'

Ning Fei thought to himself as he leaned against the snow leopard.

It was still too cold outside, so he decided to rest in the Mountain Cave a little longer before setting out.

Over an hour later, at around eight in the morning, Ning Fei bid farewell to Da Long and finally made his way down the mountain.

The descent went by quickly. He skied wherever the terrain allowed and walked the stretches where it didn't.

As a result, Ning Fei arrived at the entrance of the Valley of Death right around noon.

Bai Yuanche and Bai Yi were already waiting outside.

"Brother, over here!"

Bai Yi stepped out of the car and waved her hand, shouting with obvious excitement.

Ning Fei smiled as he walked over, ready to get in.

Before getting into the car, he turned off the live stream.

"Did you see the Ice Nether Flower?"

Bai Yuanche asked from the driver's seat.

"I saw it, yeah, but the avalanche probably destroyed it completely by now,"

Ning Fei replied, recalling the scene at the mountain peak.

"Such is nature. You shouldn't worry too much about it. Seeing it is enough. The Ice Nether Flower is truly beautiful when it blooms,"

Bai Yuanche said.

His expression remained completely calm.

He didn't ask where Ning Fei had learned to ski or rock climb. He had never been one to pry.

Unlike Bai Yuanche, Bai Yi was full of questions.

"Brother, where did you learn to ski? Can you teach me? I've always wanted to learn!"

"The way you flew down that cliff was so cool! Seriously, it was mind-blowing."

"And that snow leopard was so adorable."

"Brother, can I tell my classmates that you're my brother?"

Faced with her rapid-fire questions, Ning Fei answered each one patiently.

Bai Yi was a college freshman with only half a year of school under her belt, still in the youthful, starry-eyed stage of her life.

For a university student, discovering that her brother was a massively popular national celebrity was bound to be thrilling.

"Brother, can I post a picture to my Moments?"

Bai Yi asked. The two of them were sitting in the backseat.

"Sure,"

Ning Fei readily agreed.

Bai Yi pulled out her mobile phone and extended her arm. In the selfie, her smile was incredibly sweet, while Ning Fei offered a warm, gentle smile in the background.

Although Ning Fei had been trekking through the snowy region for several days without showering or washing his hair, it didn't diminish his handsome looks in the slightest. If anything, it added a rugged, travel-worn charm to him.

After taking the photo, Bai Yi happily posted it to her Moments.

"Hahaha, Temple Master Ning is my brother! Didn't see that coming, did you?"

It wasn't long before she received a flood of replies.

"Nice Photoshop skills!"

"I almost believed you, if not for the fact that Temple Master Ning is still out in the snowfields."

"This is a great picture! Even if it's fake, I'm still jealous."

"So pretty!"

"Is our goddess back home? Is it cold over there? Do you need me to mail you anything?"

Hardly any of her WeChat friends believed Ning Fei was actually her brother, while a few male classmates from her major used the opportunity to shamelessly flatter her.

Bai Yi had excellent genetics, after all. Her figure and looks were nothing to scoff at, making her quite the famous beauty on campus. However, she rarely paid attention to those boys, choosing to focus on her studies and hanging out with a few close girlfriends.

Her roommate, Wu Yun, also saw the post and commented: "I really want to see everyone's faces when they find out this is actually true."

Bai Yi grinned, happily chatting away with a few of her friends.

Bai Yuanche spoke to Ning Fei again.

"That canary, I've been feeding it one red pellet a day just like you asked."

"It doesn't seem like any canary I've ever seen before."

Ning Fei was momentarily stunned. Xiao Feng was a pet drawn from the System, so it was indeed special. Could his master have noticed something?

But then Bai Yuanche quickly shifted gears. "That little bird seems pretty smart. You don't see many canaries that clever. You really found a treasure."

"Yes, Master," Ning Fei replied, letting out a breath of relief.

The car drove all the way back to the villa.

When Ning Fei got out, all he wanted was a hot shower.

Little Dog and Little Fei were currently frolicking in the yard. Seeing Ning Fei return, they immediately sprinted over in excitement.

Ning Fei noticed that both Little Dog and Little Fei were dressed in incredibly cute clothes.

Their outfits were bright red, giving them a very festive look.

Lin Chu hadn't measured the little guys and bought them clothes just for appearances, of course. Kuncheng's winters were rather damp and cold, so the clothing helped keep them warm outside.

"Woof, woof!" Little Dog barked excitedly, bouncing up and down around Ning Fei.

"Alright, you're the best boy, I know," Ning Fei chuckled, petting him.

Lin Chu also came out. She was delighted to see Ning Fei back and immediately showered him with questions about his well-being, to which Ning Fei responded with a smile.

Bai Yi, meanwhile, was still chatting with her friends. Nobody believed Ning Fei was her brother, which left her feeling completely exasperated.

When Ning Fei returned to his room, Little Fox and the Heijiu kittens were resting. The moment they heard his voice, they rushed over, letting out a chorus of eager, soft cries.

Under Little Fox's tutelage, the three little black kittens hadn't learned much else, but their ability to act cute and beg for affection was top-notch.

They meowed incessantly. Finding them incredibly adorable, Ning Fei scooped up two of the Heijiu in one hand and the third in his other, giving them a gentle rub.

The Heijiu were still very young, looking just like little black furballs.

Kneading the round little furballs actually felt quite nice.

After his shower, Ning Fei felt completely refreshed.

His master's wife, Lin Chu, called him down for dinner, so Ning Fei changed into a clean Daoist Robe and headed over to eat.

Lin Chu treated this disciple very well. More accurately, she felt a sense of guilt. Ning Fei was Bai Yuanche's apprentice, and as his master's wife, she felt she hadn't fulfilled her duties over the years because she had been caught up in a feud with Bai Yuanche. Thus, she carried some guilt toward Ning Fei.

Because of this, she had prepared an absolute feast upon hearing that he was visiting.

The meal was filled with warmth and harmony. It was a peaceful, happy life—the exact kind of existence so many people spent their whole lives striving for.

.

The next day, at the Little Snow Mountain Ski Resort.

If one were to ask about the most popular tourist and entertainment attraction in Kuncheng, skiing would undoubtedly be the answer.

Located close to the snowy peaks, the area boasted a dry, cold climate and abundant snowfall, giving it a unique geographic advantage.

Coupled with the fact that skiing was a highly thrilling and fun sport, the resort saw an endless stream of tourists and locals every year.

The Little Snow Mountain Ski Resort was the most famous ski resort in Kuncheng. It featured multiple tracks, including beginner and advanced slopes, as well as specialized professional tracks for competitions and viewing.

Naturally, the professional tracks were not open to the public.

That morning, Ning Fei brought Bai Yi to practice skiing.

They started on the beginner slope.

Even early in the morning, there were already plenty of people out enjoying the snow.

Among them, a few girls were standing by the edge of the track, taking photos to mark their visit. For them, actually skiing wasn't important; what mattered was getting a beautiful photo to post on their Moments.

"Look over there! There's a guy wearing a Daoist Robe," one of the sharp-eyed girls said, pointing into the distance.

"A Daoist Robe? Is he cosplaying Temple Master Ning?" another girl curled her lip in mockery.

"That actually looks like Temple Master Ning," a third girl chimed in.

"How is that possible?" The rest of them voiced their disbelief, turning their heads in unison to look.

And then, a sudden scream echoed across the Little Snow Mountain Ski Resort.

"Ahhhhh!"
