Chapter 259: Bathing and the Burnout-Starting Kittens

"I'm back!" While Ning Fei was feeding the pigeons, he suddenly heard a crisp voice coming from outside the courtyard.

"We have a guest?"

Ning Fei was in the middle of feeding the pigeons. Truth be told, it was a thoroughly relaxing activity.

It was no wonder Tony Leung once said that whenever he got bored, he would fly from Hong Kong to London just to feed the pigeons.

Cats were generally afraid of water, and the three Heijiu tried to flee the moment they saw it. Their escape routines were identical to Tom from "Tom and Jerry": their paws scrambled rapidly in place, spinning like tires doing a burnout to build momentum, before they all bolted under the bed.

"Little Fox!"

Seeing the Heijiu scatter, Ning Fei called out softly.

Little Fox and Ning Fei had long shared a telepathic connection. Hearing the command, she immediately darted under the bed and carried the three Heijiu back out one by one in her mouth.

Her movements were very gentle as she clamped down on the backs of their necks. That was the absolute weak point for cats; the moment they were picked up by the scruff, they went completely limp.

Ning Fei then placed the three Heijiu into the wooden basin, poured in some bubble bath, and began "tormenting" the little black cats one by one.

The little black cats were barely the size of his palm, and kneading them in his hands felt exceptionally nice.

Right at that moment, a knock sounded at the door.

"Brother, is it convenient? I'm coming in."

Bai Yi's sweet voice rang out.

"Come in," Ning Fei said.

Bai Yi then walked in eagerly, holding a tablet.

She was on a video call with her college roommate.

Bai Yi was currently a freshman in college. It was winter break, which was why she was home.

"Look, I told you already. Ning Guan master is my brother, and you still didn't believe me."

Bai Yi held up the tablet, pointing it behind her at Ning Fei, who was currently bathing Little Fox, and spoke smugly.

Yet right now, on the video feed, standing behind Bai Yi's beaming face was a handsome and gentle man with his sleeves rolled up, in the middle of bathing a white fox and three little black cats.

Ning Fei's hands and forearms were covered in soap suds. The entire scene was exceptionally pleasing to the eye.

Wu Yun froze completely.

"Your brother... is really Ning Fei?!"

She still couldn't quite believe it.

Bai Yi chuckled slyly before stepping up to Ning Fei. She stood on her tiptoes, gently hooked her arm around his neck, tilted her small head up, and said with a touch of pride, "Of course. Brother, this is my classmate Wu Yun. Say hi."

Bai Yi's intimate gesture left Ning Fei a bit speechless. Looking at the girl on the tablet, he smiled and said, "Hello, I'm Ning Fei."

"Ah!"

Wu Yun let out a startled gasp and quickly dodged out of the camera's view.

When close friends video-chatted with each other, they typically didn't wear makeup and looked a bit unkempt.

Seeing Ning Fei looking so handsome and charming on the screen, Wu Yun's face had flushed red, and she scrambled out of the frame in a panic.

"Hehehe." Knowing exactly what Wu Yun was thinking, Bai Yi giggled softly.

"I won't talk to you anymore, I'm hanging up,"

Bai Yi told Wu Yun, before disconnecting the call and setting the tablet aside.

Then, she looked at Ning Fei, feeling extraordinarily happy.

Having a brother like this gave her so much face.

From now on at the university, she'd be able to strut around however she wanted.

"What are you giggling at?"

Ning Fei glanced up at her before lowering his head, focusing intently on bathing Little Fox.

The water temperature was just right, and Little Fox looked thoroughly relaxed soaking in the tub.

"Nothing, it just feels like everything is a bit sudden."

"Out of nowhere, a massive celebrity brother dropped right out of the sky. This is practically the exact same treatment the heroine in a manga gets."

Bai Yi laughed.

"I even want to write a book now. I'll call it 'My Handsome Celebrity Brother.'"

Ning Fei found the title quite amusing and immediately burst into laughter.

It was a beautiful scene.

An introverted, deep, yet radiant handsome man smiling as he bathed his pets.

What young girl wouldn't be moved by that?

Following that, the two of them started chatting.

"Did you really soak in a hot spring with a tiger?"

"Is panda fur actually stiff to the touch?"

"Why can this rooster fly?"

"How did you knock out a boxer with a single palm strike?"

Bai Yi had turned into a complete fangirl, firing off a continuous barrage of questions.

Ning Fei fetched a hair dryer, chatting with Bai Yi as he blow-dried the little guys.

Little Fox tilted her head up as the warm air from the dryer slowly dried her fur.

When a pet was just washed and blow-dried, its fur was usually incredibly fluffy, making it feel the absolute best to pet.

Ning Fei held one of the tiny kittens in one hand, also finding the sensation extremely comfortable.

"These kittens are so cute,"

Bai Yi exclaimed in pleasant surprise. "What are their names?"

"They're all called Heijiu."

Ning Fei was surprisingly patient with Bai Yi.

The two of them talked late into the night.

It wasn't until around 9:30 PM, when Lin Chu came to bring Ning Fei some milk, that Bai Yi reluctantly took her leave.

Ning Fei drank the milk and lay down on his bed, feeling quite good.

Although he wasn't quite as at ease here as he was at the Daoist temple, his elder's care for him was genuine. It felt nice to have this sense of family and belonging. Furthermore, seeing that his master's life was now comfortable and peaceful put his mind greatly at ease.

"I'll make some preparations tomorrow and head up into the Kunlun Mountains to take a look."

With everything settled properly, Ning Fei finally made up his mind to set off for Kunlun.

He had brought along many outdoor exploration tools for this trip, including gear for climbing snow-capped mountains.

He wanted to go and see the highest point of the snow domain.

He wanted to sit there, gaze quietly into the distance, and watch the sun slowly rise.

At the peak of the snowy mountains, he would watch the sunshine on the golden mountain!

"Snow domain, here I come!"
