Overgeared: Sage of Convergence
Chapter 304
He opened his eyes and started the dance from the beginning.
This time, it was entirely different. He executed the dance with terrifying control. Every spin matched hers, but fueled by his massive physical stats and his inherent mastery of the staff, the routine evolved into something breathtaking. The heavy staff became a blur, whistling sharply as it sliced the humid air. He shifted his weight at the exact angles, moving completely silently. Combined with his towering Charm stat, the dance looked less like a combat drill and more like an ancient, mesmerizing art form.
But Rudra's perfectionist streak flared up. Sensing a split-second delay in his wrist rotation on the final strike, he didn't stop.
Rudra opened his eyes. He began to move.
He immediately reset his stance and flowed right back into the first step. He ran through the entire dance a third time. Then a fourth. He continued to tweak the small details of his posture, carving the grace directly into his muscle memory until the movements were as natural as breathing.
Iris stood by the tree. She watched him repeat the routine in complete silence.
Her gray eyes tracked his final, flawless downward strike, lingering on the sheer, effortless control he had over his own overwhelming power.
Rudra spun his staff with a fluid flick of his wrist and rested it on his shoulder. He let out a satisfied breath, oblivious to her quiet reaction.
"Yeah," Rudra said, nodding in approval. "That works. We'll use the dance."
Day three. The Grand Trial began.
The Valiant Tribe had constructed a massive wooden dais in the center of the village. The wood was sturdy, and the sun was directly overhead, providing ideal natural lighting. Winfred stood near the edge of the stage, while the entire Orc tribe gathered around, cheering loudly.
[The Avatar of Mellory, Goddess of Love and Beauty, has manifested!]
The clouds parted, and a cascade of golden light hit the edge of the stage. Mellory descended in person, her pink hair flowing behind her as she took her seat upon a floating, ornate throne woven from pure white light.
She clapped her hands, and the sound echoed like a crystal bell across the swamp.
"Welcome, my gorgeous children, to the Grand Trial of Flesh and Form!" Mellory beamed, her gaze sweeping over the weeping Orcs before locking onto Rudra.
"To take an entire tribe of my children away from their home is no small request, beautiful human," Mellory announced, her eyes gleaming with anticipation. "A standard trial will simply not suffice for a man of your Charm. To prove your worthiness, you must eclipse the champions of the past! Arise, my previous Muses!"
With a wave of Mellory’s hand, the golden light pooled onto the stage. It shifted and solidified into the breathtaking phantoms of past Grand Trial winners.
Rudra swallowed hard as he watched the glowing champions materialize. Thank God I didn't try to wing this, he thought, a drop of sweat forming on his brow. If he had stepped out there and just tried to sing, or half-heartedly flexed, he would have been absolutely destroyed
They were the absolute pinnacle of their respective species—a seamless blend of aesthetics and physical perfection. Mellory smiled proudly as she evaluated her past champions.
"Litael, the 12th Generation Muse," Mellory announced as an Elf phantom stepped forward.
He possessed a hyper-shredded physique with virtually zero body fat. Pulling his waist into a flawless vacuum pose, he leaped backward and transitioned into a breathtaking back-lat spread. He drew a longbow made of pure starlight, firing three rapid shots into the sky. Every single muscle fiber in his back flared with absolute isolation and control.
"Kaelen, the 11th Generation!" Mellory cheered next.
A Centaur took the stage, his golden equine coat glistening. He struck a thigh and abdominal pose before rearing up onto his hind legs. Balancing his massive frame entirely on his lower core, he executed a rapid spear dance, his chest and obliques rippling with every heavy thrust.
"Throm, the 10th Generation Muse," Mellory continued cheering.
A Dwarf followed, wielding two massive forging hammers. He struck the wooden stage to a heavy, stomping beat, shifting effortlessly into a front double-bicep pose at the exact apex of the hammer's rebound. The shockwaves rippled through his chest, showcasing an utterly unbreakable muscular density.
"Sylis, the 9th Generation Muse," Mellory introduced the final champion.
Finally, a Dryad took the stage. Conjuring thick, glowing green vines of pure mana, she wove the light around her body and launched into a stunning floor routine. She back-handspringed and vaulted through the air, the glowing vines framing her flawless proportions.
"Flawless, as always," Mellory sighed happily. "The eternal standards of their eras. Now... show me the beauty of my children!"
The Valiant Orcs, led by the Chief and Korag, marched onto the stage.
Thanks to the [Beauty Meat] Rudra had fed them this morning again, their baseline aesthetics were staggering. Their green skin was entirely clear of swamp blemishes, radiating a vibrant, healthy glow.
"We offer our sculpted forms to the Goddess!" the Chief bellowed, crossing his thick arms and locking into a towering 'Most Muscular' pose.
The Orcs launched into a synchronized war dance, swinging their heavy iron axes in unison. Unlike their normal, chaotic brawling, they moved with incredible coordination. Their massive muscles flexed in perfect harmony, the sheer power of their strikes sending gusts of wind across the dais. It was an excellent, powerful display of peak Orcish physicality.
When they finished, they hit a synchronized side-chest pose, breathing heavily.
Mellory clapped from her throne, evaluating them with a fond eye. "Magnificent mass and wonderful symmetry! You have cared for your bodies well, my children. But alas, your forms prioritize sheer, overwhelming power over the delicate flow of true grace. I give you an 8 out of 10. A spectacular effort, but a step below the championship."
The stage cleared. The swamp grew quiet.
"Next," Mellory announced, turning her bright eyes toward the back of the stage. "The beautiful human."
