Out of fear of death, Invest Everything into Health
Chapter 947 - 366: Defying Destiny, Fulfilling Duty (Part 2)
Great Oblivion True Monarch felt that Master Yao Yue’s comment "look at with fresh eyes," was more like a challenge rather than literal, he shivered and dryly laughed, choosing not to ask further questions.
He quickly changed the topic, looking back along the Path to Immortality, elongating his neck to glance towards the Great Wilderness World,
"Where is my junior sister, where is my junior sister?"
"See for yourself." Baili Yao Yue lightly waved her hand, revealing the truth to him.
Upon seeing the truth, Great Oblivion True Monarch’s eyes nearly bulged out in confusion,
"Why has my junior sister turned into such a person! She’s as pure as a blank sheet of paper now!"
Baili Yao Yue tilted her head, giving a dry laugh,
"Your junior sister has always been an extreme person, hasn’t she?"
Great Oblivion True Monarch agreed.
"Oh?" Jiang Ran was curious, "How was she before?"
Great Oblivion True Monarch then began to recount the story of his junior sister—
Wei Shu was someone who firmly believed in the "law of the jungle," and anyone who disagreed with her was destined for a grisly end, killed without hesitation. She admired violence to the extreme, unwilling to speak more than necessary, she was deeply favored by Peach Blossoms. She and their master Fan Wubing were the only two whom Peach Blossoms willingly accepted as leaders.
In her eyes, the master was an ideal, a faith, her god, while Great Oblivion True Monarch, her senior brother, barely counted as human.
What does everyone else count for her? In her view, other people weren’t even worth considering!
Back when Master Fan Wubing tried to temper her character, he assigned her a task, to establish a sect and manage it properly. Thus, the Qianyuan Sect was born.
Everything seemed to be going well, her extreme character was slowly changing, until Master Fan Wubing ascended to the Everlasting Mountain and never returned... She became more extreme, like a wandering ghost drifting aimlessly in the Eternal Sea, feared by all who saw her.
So when Fan Wubing blamed Great Oblivion True Monarch for not keeping her in check, he felt a million grievances. How could he possibly control her?
Great Oblivion True Monarch vividly remembers the first time he met Master Yao Yue. At that time, the master was no longer around. After learning about the story between Master and Yao Yue, he was deeply saddened, even shed tears for Yao Yue not being able to return before the master ascended Everlasting Mountain, meanwhile, his junior sister was the complete opposite, burning with anger.
The fight ensued because the junior sister believed Yao Yue was a fraud, exclaiming that her revered master couldn’t possibly fall for a mortal! Then Master Yao Yue recounted how obsessed their master was with their senior sister, ending with the remark "senior sister slave," which shattered the junior sister’s defense on the spot.
They fought fiercely, almost dismantling his Qi Yuan Star Domain. However, the two slowly resolved their misunderstandings and got along well afterwards.
"That’s basically the situation." Great Oblivion True Monarch spread his hands.
Baili Yao Yue picked up the thread,
"Even though she never defeated me, remembering her desperate stance still makes me somewhat fearful."
Jiang Ran finished listening, softly smiled, eyes half-concealing his pupils,
"Quite adorable."
Great Oblivion True Monarch and Baili Yao Yue looked at Jiang Ran in shock.
Jiang Ran smiled, asking, "Isn’t she?"
Baili Yao Yue suddenly felt unable to comprehend what Jiang Ran meant by "adorable," she dryly laughed,
"Perhaps..."
Great Oblivion True Monarch felt indifferent about it all,
"So, why did my junior sister turn out this way?"
Baili Yao Yue spread her hands, said,
"I don’t know either."
"Alright." Great Oblivion True Monarch rubbed his nose; although there were many mysteries surrounding his junior sister, he felt that it was alright. Watching Zhuge Hong absorbed in research in the warehouse, he thought of having an obedient and understanding junior sister, causing his chest to puff out with pride.
Jiang Ran was a thinker. She looked towards Zhuge Hong in the distant Qiming Realm Fan City, slightly furrowing her brows.
Baili Yao Yue noticed her expression and asked, "Did you think of something?"
Jiang Ran smiled, "Hard to say."
Baili Yao Yue didn’t delve further, leading Great Oblivion True Monarch to greet others, together discussing how to guard the Great Wilderness World.
Until then, Fan Wubing’s past identity was revealed to everyone.
Turns out, his birth was extraordinary from the very start. Yet, no amount of reflection could foresee his realm, his path forward, and that unattainable ideal.
With Great Oblivion True Monarch, the ruler of one side of the Eternal Sea lending a hand, everyone’s pressure was significantly reduced.
Nonetheless, they were well aware that the relief was temporary.
As long as the essence of eternity exists, the Eternal Apostle would never vanish.
Great Oblivion True Monarch, when talking about official matters, was indeed a serious True Monarch. He uncovered the truth, clarified the situation,
"The will of the True Dragon must be erased by Destiny Dao. But since the True Dragon itself, since its birth, exists as an observer and recorder in the Great Thousand Worlds, it is not governed by Destiny Dao. And the True Dragon itself cannot interfere with the choices of destiny, so it left the Eternal Sea and created this Great Wilderness World, giving the right to resist to us who compose destiny itself."
Great Oblivion True Monarch said, "I very much agree with the master’s words, the True Dragon does not want to resist destiny, it wants to save destiny. If all things step into the ultimate eternity, then destiny itself will cease to exist. Only with unpredictable destiny, can the world not be a prison of fate; only then can we achieve freedom. Now, the will of the True Dragon fills the Eternal Cradle, therefore, what the cradle births is not eternity, but freedom."
Celestial Venerable Zizai’s tone was calm, but her gaze seemed to flicker with lightning,
"The Dao is infinite, laws are boundless."
Great Oblivion True Monarch laughed, "Baiyang True Monarch is a senior worthy of respect."
Celestial Venerable Zizai’s voice trembled slightly, "Have you met Dao Ancestor?"
Those words, Dao Ancestor once told her.
Great Oblivion True Monarch shook his head, "I have only heard of his deeds. Back then, Baiyang True Monarch, Haoran True Monarch, and Miao Zhenjun, three True Monarchs, voluntarily relinquished their Everlasting Mountain fruit positions, reversed the Path of Eternity and left the Eternal Sea. At that time, countless people didn’t understand why they did so... Even the Supreme True Monarch from the same era, remained silent on this. Regardless of their achievements, only this choice is worthy of respect."
Celestial Venerable Zizai relievedly smiled, "I see."
Yushan Daoist understood her well. Because he too had been lost, questioning whether the sage’s choice was worthwhile.
Great Oblivion True Monarch turned back to look at the numerous Eternal Apostles distorting space and time,
"The True Dragon gave us the right to resist destiny and pursuit freedom. What we seek is not eternity, nor chaos, but an unpredictable future."
A line forged for freedom will no longer foster eternity, but cradle the future securely behind it.
Standing on this line of defense are the climbers.
The mountain they must transcend is called "fate."
Great Oblivion True Monarch brought not only warriors from the Eternal Sea but also the star wind that blows day and night from the Eternal Sea.
Bathed in the star wind, the realm of people in the Great Wilderness World broke through one after another. This group was originally the most excellent cultivators, but two thousand years of stagnation made them dormant for too long. Accepting the "heavenly" essence of eternity trapped their Dao heart, clouding it.
Fan Wubing cut through the heavens, reforging the Path to Immortality, clearing the dust from their hearts.
And now, with a breeze of spring, they ascended straight to the clouds!
For a moment, Celestial Venerable Zizai, Yushan Daoist, Li Yuan, Tang Rushi, Jiang Xuan, and others, broke through the wasteland with Dao, communicating Hongmeng with immortality. Others also gradually achieved new peaks in cultivation.
Great Oblivion True Monarch surveyed at a glance, seeing twelve Hongmeng Immortals, thirty-nine Primordial Immortals, and one hundred seventy-eight Ancestral Immortals.
None were below the Upper Three Realms.
Especially Celestial Venerable Zizai, Yushan Daoist, and Li Yuan, from Great Oblivion True Monarch’s perspective, were no less than those Immortals with the Everlasting Mountain fruit positions!
He was astounded,
"This Great Wilderness World truly is the promised land! To possibly nurture such outstanding individuals! True dragon indeed!"
Just then, a bright force spread from the distant Eternal Sea, disregarding spatial-temporal separation, felt by all.
Baili Yao Yue raised an eyebrow, saying,
"The Central Chaos Storm has dispersed."
Great Oblivion True Monarch’s eyes sharp as swords, "Those seven True Monarchs were all wiped out! It was the master himself! I thought their obstruction would cause him considerable trouble, yet... they couldn’t even resist. Master... what stage is he at?"
Baili Yao Yue said,
"He is not eternity; yet surpasses eternity. Furthermore, we have never known how he returned."
Great Oblivion True Monarch grew worried. He did not ask whether success was possible, only what he might face,
"What will the master encounter upon ascending Everlasting Mountain?"
Baili Yao Yue could not answer this question.
Jiang Ran’s gaze was distant, her voice ethereal,
"Desire? Hope?"
Great Oblivion True Monarch exclaimed,
"Ladies and gentlemen, do not adhere to destiny, but fulfill duty!"
