Annie York stood up and returned to her room. Shutting the door behind her, she leaned her back against it and closed her eyes.

They wanted to use her against Chloe, but that was absolutely impossible. She would never do anything to hurt Chloe!

Arisdale, Hot Spring Villa.

The sky had grown dark. Chloe Reed and the others had dinner, then played a few rounds of billiards to digest their food before returning to their respective rooms to change for the hot springs.

There were several types of pools: mixed-gender pools, private ones, and large rooms housing multiple smaller pools. They opted for the third choice. This way, they could chat together without the awkwardness of sharing the exact same pool.

"Wow, this feels amazing..." Fiona Linton slipped into the hot spring and let out a sigh of comfort, feeling as though her very soul was being elevated.

Chloe followed close behind. Enveloped by the warm water, she had to admit it was incredibly comfortable and relaxing. Squinting contentedly, Chloe took a photo with her phone and sent it to her grandmother.

Lately, she had been chatting with the old lady every day. Even when they didn’t have much to say, they would exchange photos to let each other know what they were up to in the moment.

A moment later, her grandmother replied with a photo of her own. Chloe tapped it open to see a glass of fruit wine resting next to a whole roast duck. She couldn’t help but smile. The old lady was certainly living the good life.

"Chloe, you’re really beautiful." Fiona suddenly complimented, leaning against the edge of the pool and tilting her head to look at her.

Caught off guard by the praise, Chloe felt inevitably shy. She typed out her reply: "You’re very beautiful too."

But Fiona continued in a serious tone, "Your face looks a lot like Jasper Holloway’s. However, he gives off this sinister and harsh vibe, but you don’t. You’re radiant, and your eyes are pure. There’s nothing dark about you at all; you just make people feel really comfortable."

This was the first time in a long while that Fiona had brought up Jasper’s name.

A member of the Holloway family. And very possibly, a member of her own family.

Chloe’s gaze grew complicated. She didn’t know how she was going to face these family members in the future. If they were only going to blindly side with Vera Holloway, then they meant nothing to her.

After all, she was absolutely determined to kill Vera. Time and time again, she had faced grave danger and brushed past death, and it was all because of Vera!

A profound sense of resolve surfaced deep within Chloe’s eyes.

"You two got here fast," Preston Vance remarked as he finally arrived.

"Whoa!" Fiona looked over, unable to hold back her exclamation upon seeing his physique. "Mr. Vance, you always look like a strong gust of wind could blow you over. I never expected you to be in such great shape."

He was wearing knee-length swimming trunks with a bath towel draped over his shoulders. His chest was bare, revealing well-toned, highly defined muscles and attractive lines.

Preston offered a faint smile. "My work keeps me very busy. I have to maintain my stamina and physical fitness, or else I’d easily collapse."

Fiona chuckled mischievously. "Today wasn’t a wasted trip at all! Getting to see a domineering CEO’s abs? I’ve definitely hit the jackpot."

Preston just let out a helpless laugh. His gaze swept past Chloe, only to find her demeanor completely indifferent. She didn’t show the slightest hint of awe at his physique—not even a flicker in her eyes.

Either she truly felt absolutely nothing for him, or she was so used to seeing bodies like his that it was nothing new to her.
