She looked at Preston Vance with a half-smile and said, "Mr. Vance, I’ll be quite upset if I don’t get the same treatment as Chloe."

Preston wiped imaginary cold sweat from his forehead. "Suddenly, I’m feeling a lot of pressure."

Fiona Linton laughed heartily. "Come on, let’s start!"

The next few rounds went even smoother. Preston occasionally fed cards to Fiona, allowing her to win comfortably, while he lost miserably. By the time they finished, he realized he was the only one who had lost money.

"Losing money in the New Year brings back good fortune," Fiona said. "Mr. Vance is definitely going to make a fortune in the coming year!"

Preston smiled gently. "I hope your words come true."

Fiona linked her arm through Chloe Reed’s. "Let’s go. I’m getting a little hungry—let’s get something to eat."

Chloe nodded.

It was already evening, and the sky had darkened. The group headed straight to the buffet area, which offered an endless variety of delicacies. They each gathered their food, sat down at a table, and began to eat unhurriedly.

Annie York spoke up, "I saw on the notice board that there’s a fireworks show tonight."

Chloe nodded and typed out a reply on her phone: "Yes, the fireworks show here is actually quite good." She had visited this place before. The fireworks displays were always meticulously designed, and every show was unique.

Fiona sighed with emotion. "This is the most relaxing Spring Festival I’ve ever had."

Chloe looked at her in confusion, slowly mouthing, "Why?"

Fiona said, "Ever since I moved back to the fishing village, the locals have taken great care of me. During the Spring Festival, they always bring me lots of gifts and drag me to their homes for dinner. But I always found it exhausting. Maybe it’s because they’re too enthusiastic, and I don’t really know how to repay them. That’s why it felt so tiring."

She smiled, looking at Chloe, and added, "Coming out here this year has been great. Even though I haven’t known you all for long, I feel like we really click. Spending the New Year with you feels so relaxed. I don’t have that draining, tense feeling anymore. It’s really nice."

Chloe curved her lips into a smile and typed: "Then spend every New Year with me from now on. Once everything I need to do is finished, we can go visit my grandmother. My grandmother and Uncle King are both incredible at mahjong. We can have them play with you then."

Fiona laughed. "Sure, sounds great!"

Just as they were laughing and talking, the lights in the restaurant suddenly went out. They were the only guests in the entire resort, so even the busy servers were taken aback by the sudden darkness.

"What happened?" Annie asked instinctively.

The restaurant manager hurried over to reassure them. "Mrs. Grant, please don’t be alarmed. A breaker probably tripped. I’ve already sent someone to fix it; the lights will be back on soon."

Chloe wasn’t afraid; she just found it a bit sudden. The resort had its own independent power supply system. Even if the main circuit failed, there was a backup generator to replace it. Either way, there was no real danger.

Less than five minutes later, the lights flickered back on. The manager visibly sighed in relief. Wiping cold sweat from his forehead, he smiled and said, "It’s all fixed. Please, enjoy your meal."

Chloe nodded, letting him return to his work.

Fiona couldn’t help but remark, "For such a massive resort, is the wiring really that old? It just fails out of nowhere?"

"It was likely a power surge that tripped the breaker," Preston said. "It’s not a big deal."

Chloe didn’t take the matter to heart either. Just then, Annie’s phone rang. She gestured to the group. "I’m going to step over there to take this."
