Chapter 1492: Chapter 1492: Now That’s a Threat
Pei Yan thought for a moment and realized he couldn’t find the corresponding words, so he waved his hand and continued, "Forget it, even if I said that term, you wouldn’t understand. Just consider it as a kind of toxin! This toxin can attach to the air, soil, and river water, and it won’t dissipate for decades or even hundreds of years. It will affect all species in this region. The first people who come into contact with it will die within a month or two, and some people might narrowly escape death, but do you think those who survive have truly escaped? No! You’re naive! They will be tormented by various diseases for the rest of their lives, and their offspring will also be affected, with children being born either deformed or with various hereditary diseases."
Saying this, Pei Yan walked up to Urban, whose face had begun to turn pale and whose lips were trembling uncontrollably. He tossed the cigarette butt in his hand to the ground and extinguished it with his foot. After exhaling the last bit of smoke onto Urban’s face, he whispered like a devil, "Mr. Urban, how many big cities like Council City do you have in your magic dimension? Ten? I think that’s too few! A hundred? A thousand? It doesn’t matter, even if it’s a thousand, I can ensure that each city receives such a big gift. You should feel honored because this is what you fought for!"
The more detailed Pei Yan’s description became, the more everyone present felt a chill down their spines. Imagining the scene, if thousands of world-ending columns of light like the sun rose in succession in their own world, what a terrifying disaster that would be! Only then did they realize that perhaps the cornerstone dimension was an even more terrifying enemy than Blood Chaos.
"No! Impossible! You don’t have the authority to decide to launch such attacks against us. Don’t think I know nothing about your world. In your world, your Investigation Department is just a small organization dealing only with supernatural powers and dimensional invasions. There’s no way your world would mobilize such powerful weapons for your personal matters!" Urban, pushed into a corner by Pei Yan, vigorously retorted.
Clap! Clap! Clap!
"Oh! Not bad! You actually know our jurisdiction!" Despite being refuted, Pei Yan wasn’t angry and instead applauded Urban, laughingly questioning, "You’re right! My world indeed wouldn’t deploy such weapons for my personal matters. But what if you retaliate against us actively? This retaliation wasn’t my idea; it was suggested by you! Our Investigation Department can’t stop your sneak attacks, so do you think we might retaliate in such a way then?"
Urban, whose mind was already scrambled, suddenly realized the mistake he made, and upon seeing the bishop standing there speechless, Pei Yan continued to irritate his nerves, "Do you know what the most interesting point of this matter is?"
Pei Yan extended two fingers and beckoned while smiling, "That would be the time difference between the two dimensions. Do you know? Due to the massive impact of the toxin I mentioned, it was only used twice in actual combat since its creation and then set aside as a deterrent not easily used. However, this point is completely irrelevant in your world!"
Everyone who heard this immediately understood the reasoning and their faces turned pale. Pei Yan chuckled grimly and said, "Because in your world, we don’t have to worry about pollution. Between the time difference of the two dimensions, one day for us equals a month for you, ten years for us is nearly five hundred years for you. Your once-advantageous training time becomes a slow poison that will gradually kill you. During this period, all we have to do is check your world periodically, and whenever there are survivors, we throw in another one of these! We simply wait for ten years, twenty years, thirty years, and after one thousand five hundred years, will there be anyone left in your world? Even if there is, will they have any resistance left? By then the toxin will have dissipated! Who will the world belong to then?"
"Wow! Oh my god!" As he exclaimed, Pei Yan raised his hands to the sky with excitement, "How did I never think of this before! I am still too kind, unwilling to consider such a cruel plan!" After finishing, Pei Yan looked at Urban with grievance and said, "But Mr. Urban, my kindness is useless. In my world, both sides would even fight to the point of spilling brains over a small piece of resource. Do you think, upon seeing such a vast territory that can be conquered this way, they wouldn’t be tempted?"
"Devil! You and those who researched such terrifying weapons in your world are all devils!" Urban, already frightened by the scenario described by Pei Yan, pointed at him and accused in a trembling voice.
Pei Yan ignored him and turned to walk towards his companions, opening his arms and nodding with a smile, "Did you see that? That’s what a threat looks like! As for being a devil? Ah! Many of my enemies have said that about me! I’ll just take it as your compliment!"
As he spoke, Pei Yan returned to his team and turned back to look at the three envoys, smacking his lips, "Alright! Now that everything that needed to be said has been said! Have you decided what you want to do? Give me a straightforward answer! If you really want to engage in an all-out war between the two dimensions, I wouldn’t mind detonating one here in Council City today. You should know I am capable of doing that! Back at the Sword Discussion Conference, if it hadn’t been for the Immortal Palace Spirit Emperor stopping me, I would have already released it then. Believe me, the power I wield today is much greater than what was on the field back then."
Urban, who found himself unable to threaten effectively and was instead scared by the other party, turned his head and looked at Aleister and the others for help, but they were unwilling to bother with this fool. After hesitating for a moment, Aleister stepped forward and said, "Pei Yan, I believe you can do everything you said, but I also hope you know that while you inflict such devastating damage on the magic dimension, we absolutely have the ability to deliver a burdensome blow to the cornerstone dimension beyond what you can endure."
Pei Yan did not oppose this statement and waited for the other’s next words. Seeing Pei Yan acknowledge his statement, Aleister then continued, "I think this is something neither of us wants to see, so let’s keep our focus on this matter. This is just a conflict between the team you lead and the Demon Race. No matter what the outcome of today’s battle is, whether who lives or dies, there is no need to implicate broader and create much larger conflicts."
"Hehehe! I’ve had enough with you all! The ones threatening us are you, and now realizing we’re not easy targets, you’re changing your mind again! Fine! Even though I’m very disdainful of your actions, there’s one thing you’ve said right! I don’t want to involve innocent people in my world who have nothing to do with this matter. As long as you don’t make foolish moves, we won’t take equivalent retaliation!"
