Chapter 1484: Chapter 1484: Return to Council City

After listening to Ye Ruozai’s introduction, Pei Yan started planning. Since it must be activated using the Daoist Plane’s origin, its user is limited to the Child of Origin, while others who have converted to the cornerstone plane’s origin cannot activate this item.

"Alright! I have it figured out!" Pei Yan weighed the package in his hand and responded with a smile.

"Don’t forget! Remember to return it to me personally!" Ye Ruozai reminded once again.

"No problem!" Ye Ruozai was never stingy. After acquiring the ring, he hadn’t used it much himself, and if Pei Yan and his team wanted it, he’d give it away for free with no problem. He insisted on borrowing it and returning it, hoping they would all return safely. Pei Yan understood this and waved the bag in his hand at the other, flashing a knowing smile.

With everyone bidding them farewell, the group stepped into the space passage leading to the Magic Plane. When they emerged from the other end, the smiles from their farewell with friends and colleagues were gone, replaced with sober and murderous expressions. They no longer concealed their aura, freely releasing their pressure around them.

Exiting the space passage, Pei Yan didn’t even glance at the struggling personnel under the team’s aura pressure. Casually, he took out the bag Ye Ruozai provided and said, "Inside is the Forbidden Curse Ring collected from that idiot Flamel. It can only be activated with Magic Plane’s aura. Use the instructions inside to see which attributes suit you, and choose accordingly! Sister, Gu Chu, you’re well-supplied, each pick three. Xia Yu, Old Zheng, you each pick two."

The distribution wasn’t favoritism; Pei Jin and Gu Shenghui were both Tier Nine Superpower Users who advanced with the help of Di Xin Divine Wine, thus their energy was rich enough to wield three Forbidden Curse Rings simultaneously while unleashing their abilities. Xia Yu and Zheng Jia Ru, after forming a pact with sacred beasts, reached the pinnacle of Level 8 Superpower User, just a step away from a breakthrough, so their energy slightly fell short compared to the former team, making two rings efficiently usable.

The four weren’t shy to step forward and select the Forbidden Curse Rings according to the labels. At this moment, Pei Jin and Gu Shenghui proactively let Xia Yu choose first, and only after they finished did Pei Jin make his choice. Gu Shenghui merely glanced at the usage instructions provided by Pei Yan and took the remaining rings into his arms.

After dividing the treasure in front of its original owner, Pei Yan looked at the mages in charge of the mage tower with slight irritation and smiled, saying, "Are we to proceed to Council City on our own, or will you lead us?"

"Follow us," the leading mage, aware of the disparity in strength between himself and those before him, grumbled without a hint of politeness, merely gesturing ahead with a finger.

Pei Yan didn’t fault them and followed behind the reception team, swiftly heading towards Council City. The space passage location was chosen carefully: neither too near nor too far from Council City, this way, if the dispatched investigation team exceeded expectations, it left them a buffer of time. Under the deliberate speed control of the leading mage, it took nearly an hour for the group to arrive outside Council City.

Before landing, when the scene around Council City came into view, Pei Yan and the other members exchanged knowing smiles. As suspected, this time Council City had undergone a major transformation, gone was the loose, freely accessible look from their last visit. Within days, towering walls had sprung up around the city; a gate stood wide open on the main road leading into the city, the place where Pei Yan had once agreed with Othella now had a row of armored Heavy Knights lined up in strict formation. Numerous mages, witches, Griffin Knights, and Dragon Riders hovered above the city gate, and as Pei Yan and his group’s silhouettes appeared on the horizon, the sound of trumpets triumphantly reverberated between heaven and earth.

No matter the outcome of the impending dispute, the three major councils showed significant respect to Pei Yan and the warriors joining him to challenge Council City. Amidst the melodic trumpets, Pei Yan and his group slowly descended in front of the grand army. Surrounding them were three temporarily erected tents.

Council City had long cleared the lush forests flanking the roads and left an endless field for battle. The tents for the three major planes were set up here, having arrived a day before Pei Yan. Lin Daozi from the Daoist Plane and Long Jin from the Dragon Realm represented their masters in making final mediations to Council City, the results all within their expectations. The opposing side kindly hosted the tribunal from the major planes yet declined their request for concessions to form an alliance, believing Pei Yan should be the one to concede instead of being aggressive about small matters.

Actually, all parties knew the mediation was more ceremonial; the two unrelated planes expressed efforts for peaceful resolution, leaving victory to decide allegiances for their stance in condemning the defeated.

When Pei Yan and his group landed, only the Demon Race’s envoy Samikina came forward, while the other two, despite secretly supporting the Cornerstone Plane, maintained a neutral facade, offering simple bows in salutation.

Pei Yan graciously returned the gestures and approached Samikina. It was Pei Yan’s first meeting since Sifuer’s incident. This seasoned elder, known for his slick dealings and ruthless tactics, seemed to have aged significantly after losing his granddaughter, gripping Pei Yan’s extended hand with a sorrowful voice. "Thank you! Thank you for what you’re willing to do for Sifuer, but this time, we can’t offer you substantial help."

"Sir, the assistance from Holy City is more than sufficient, and as Miss Sifuer said, it’s an obligation! I owe it to Miss Sifuer to repay the kindness she showed me." Pei Yan, holding the elder’s hand, replied with emotion.

"Good! Excellent!" Samikina patted Pei Yan’s shoulder warmly. "Are you ready?"

"Of course! You know me well; I never fight unprepared battles!" Pei Yan chuckled in response.

"That’s good! Let’s go!" With that, Samikina and Pei Yan stood together, proceeding towards the army outside Council City.
