Chapter 1478: Chapter 1478: Farewell, Ye Jiumu

Pei Yan is the Child of Origin who has fused the powers of six major realms. This internal Origin Body, crafted from this foundation, allows him to rapidly absorb source energy from any plane and convert it for his own use. This grants him a potential advantage over other Masters of Origin.

"Your eye?" Gu Shenghui felt relieved after hearing Pei Yan’s words, gesturing toward his still-closed right eye. He knew that this right eye was related to the fusion of two types of Power of Origin within his body. If the seal were lifted, Pei Yan’s strength would reach a new height.

Pei Yan, upon hearing this, raised his hand to touch his right eye and remarked: "You mean this? The breakthrough has indeed greatly accelerated the fusion of the two Powers of Origin. Now I feel that just a little more will complete the final fusion, breaking the seal. But this requires an opportunity; it could be tomorrow or perhaps right as the battle begins, I can’t say for certain when it might occur."

"Okay, so does your ability to advance and awaken mean you won’t need the batch of resources that Yu Hall prepared for you? I don’t mean to reject them, but this is indeed a considerable amount of material resources. Old Yu put his heart into this matter, worked hard to persuade the higher-ups to approve, and completed the allocation in record time, using three warehouses just to store the items. This was all accomplished before Dragon Realm even gave a definitive response. You know what this means, right?" Gu Shenghui informed Pei Yan of Yu Zhongmin’s efforts over this period.

Pei Yan was fully aware of what this meant. Dragon Realm was hesitant; if Pei Yan emerged victorious and completed his mission successfully, then Yu Hall would remain an advantageous ally, and the extra resources would be a small price to pay. However, if Pei Yan were to fail and even perish, Dragon Realm would not only lose a Young Master but also a large group of divine beasts with contracts signed with Yu Hall. Such actions would also arouse the displeasure of Council City, which could influence their decision on whether to provide these resources.

Yu Zhongmin was now determined that Pei Yan must and will succeed; he vouched for this list’s approval in advance. If anything unexpected happens, his most valued career prospects will be jeopardized. Gu Shenghui spoke up for his old colleague to reduce his stress while also letting Pei Yan know the difficulties faced by Yu Hall.

"I understand. Please thank Yu Hall on my behalf. I still need to absorb these resources! They will help me create a more advanced army formed differently from other materials. Once this Mechanical Legion takes shape, it can absorb surrounding source energy as its power source and operate with independent combat awareness, vastly enhancing its battle capabilities. Whether against Council City or the future battles with Bloodkill, it will be a formidable force." After careful consideration, Pei Yan decided to stick to his original plan.

Gu Shenghui did not object but suddenly remembered something and laughed: "Oh, right, I just received some news from Advisor Lin. Currently, only she, I, and another person know about it. She asked me to pass it along to you once you awoke."

"What is it?" Pei Yan was curious when he saw Gu Shenghui’s rare smile of genuine joy.

"In the past, our plans always lagged behind others. Although there wasn’t much loss, we were still at a disadvantage. This time, for the first time, we have gotten ahead of them." Gu Shenghui leaned close to Pei Yan and whispered a few words.

Initially, Pei Yan was uncomfortable with Gu Shenghui being so close, but once he heard what was said, he cast aside all previous concerns. After Gu Shenghui finished talking, Pei Yan scratched his slightly itchy ear and excitedly said, "Is this Bloodkill’s plan? It seems to match Mu Fanchen’s usual style. What should we do? Have we notified the other allies? Oh, wait, he was involved in the initial plan. So, the other person you mentioned must be him. Are there any arrangements?"

Gu Shenghui shook his head and chuckled: "No, what we need to do is pretend to know nothing and carry on as planned! Yu Hall will adhere to the original plan to prevent Bloodkill incursions. After we depart, we’ll recruit experts from Immortal Palace and Dragon Realm to strengthen the headquarters, preventing a recurrence of previous incidents. Everything will proceed according to the opposition’s script."

"Oh!" Pei Yan thought it over and swiftly understood, nodding with a knowing smile, shared between the old fox and the young fox.

"Alright, since you’re fine, I won’t bother you further. The big battle is imminent, and many things await my attention. Spend some time with your friends first! Is there anything you need me to do?" Gu Shenghui saw Pei Yan was well and prepared to leave, asking as he stood.

"Nothing much. By the way, Jiang Feiyang is downstairs, right? Let him in soon; I need to discuss something with him."

"Alright!"

Soon after Gu Shenghui left the room, a burst of rapid footsteps was heard from downstairs, quickly followed by the door to Pei Yan’s bedroom being pushed open as a group of people rushed in.

The most noticeable among the crowd was Ye Jiumu, walking with some difficulty on a cane and being surrounded by others. Seeing Ye Jiumu, Pei Yan sprang up from the bed, quickly rose to greet him, and guided him to sit comfortably on a chair in the room.

"How many days have you been awake? When I visited you the day before yesterday, you were still in a wheelchair. Wasn’t the seal supposed to delay the impact of time on you? In the sealed state, the months should feel like mere minutes to you." Pei Yan asked a series of questions upon seeing the still somewhat frail Ye Jiumu.

"I regained consciousness on the third day after your coma began. The seal indeed slows the impact of time on me, but once it’s lifted, external and internal source energy affect my body, even though the effect is reduced by half. It’s akin to having been bedridden for two or three months. Additionally, my body was already very weak before being sealed, so full recovery will take some time." Ye Jiumu explained, visibly happy to talk about his situation.

"So that’s the way it is. That Supreme-being didn’t explain with good intentions and deliberately concealed many critical details. If not for our fortuitous insights into many aspects, we would’ve been outmaneuvered by his ploy." Hearing Ye Jiumu’s explanation clarified the drawbacks of the seal, sparking indignation in Pei Yan as he remembered the Supreme-being’s deceit aimed to deepen his enmity with Delacuri.

"I’m just glad to be alive; the whole process was painless for me, truly. It was like closing my eyes and opening them again, all done. Initially, I couldn’t move my body, but soon I could transfer to a wheelchair. After several days of rehabilitation training, you see, now I can walk with a cane." Ye Jiumu said, patting his legs, his joyous smile tinged with some wistfulness.
