Chapter 1461: Chapter 1461: The Appointment on the 15th
In this setting, Pei Yan wouldn’t dream of squeezing a few gold coins out of the bag to hand over stingily. So, he generously and gracefully tossed a whole bag of gold coins away. Though he acted with flair, the one truly responsible for footing the bill, Mei Simiao, felt heartache yet maintained a smile with a nonchalant expression.
"You let me know this important piece of information at the right time and place, so this is the reward you deserve for your bold actions. Take the money and go."
Holding a bag full of heavy gold coins, Silman felt like he was dreaming. Upon hearing Pei Yan’s words, he trembled and responded, "Sir, this... this is really too much! I just..."
"I said this is what you deserve. Now take the money and hurry up and leave; if something really happens, you won’t be able to leave."
"Alright! Alright, thank you, sir!" Hearing this, Silman no longer hesitated, leaping onto the carriage like the wind. With the money now, he was no longer stingy and directly tossed a gold coin to the coachman, urging him to quickly drive away from this place of trouble.
As the carriage sped away under the urging of the coachman, Pei Yan, playing with a remaining gold coin in his hand, walked up to Audess. Seeing Pei Yan approach, the three council members felt as if they were facing a formidable foe. Audess spoke first, "Mr. Pei Yan, I know nothing I say now can calm your anger, but I’d like you to consider that this is a conspiracy by the Bloodshed. We’re also being used! I hope you think clearly about the stakes involved and don’t fall into their trap and act recklessly."
"You’re right, this is indeed a conspiracy by the Bloodshed. But this matter wasn’t the Bloodshed actively seeking out Flamel, it was Flamel who made the request himself. If he hadn’t entertained these thoughts, such a thing wouldn’t have happened. Can you say he is innocent?" With Pei Yan’s manipulation, the gold coin jumped back and forth between his fingers, speaking with such casualness that made it difficult for the other party to gauge Pei Yan’s current attitude.
As things had reached this point, clearing Flamel’s name was impossible. Without harboring such hope from the start, Audess responded candidly, "Certainly! I have been saying before that Flamel must bear responsibility for this matter. This issue needs to be handed over..."
"Handed over to the supreme powers of the two dimensions to handle, right? I know! I know! You mentioned earlier that this matter has nothing to do with my cornerstone dimension, and I have no right to intervene! But now there is evidence showing that Flamel indeed wanted to harm me, and Miss Sifuer was implicated and killed because of it. This matter does relate to my investigative hall now! You can no longer say I have no right to inquire, can you?" Pei Yan said as he increased the frequency of flipping the gold coin, not letting Audess continue before saying, "But, even if I demanded that you hand over Flamel for trial, you wouldn’t agree, right?"
"Oh!" Audess was left speechless by Pei Yan’s outburst, then sighed helplessly after a long pause, "Mr. Pei Yan, we all understand that if we let Flamel out now, it would lead to a chaotic battle, making everything I said earlier meaningless. He can accept trial, and even your investigative hall can send representatives to intervene in this trial, but he cannot accept your extra-judicial punishment! The significance is different! Do you understand?"
"I understand! If I were to demand the release of Flamel, it would equate to declaring your council city and even that supreme power sitting high above the clouds as submitting to me." Pei Yan’s gaze once again shifted to the mage tower where Flamel was, then continued, "I am not unreasonable, I’ll give you time to consider! Fifteen days! Isn’t half a month enough?"
Upon hearing this, not only Audess but even Mei Simiao within the group was pleased. Fifteen days! Pei Yan wasn’t planning on taking action now; it seems her words had some effect on him. Even if conflicts arise at that time, these fifteen days allow the investigative hall to adequately prepare for seeking help or facing the situation alone with respective countermeasures.
Meanwhile, Audess was secretly delighted for not having to face such a terrifying group of enemies now. As for what changes might occur after fifteen days, that would be the concern of the supreme power and the mage tower with the Bright Church. The Witch Association didn’t need to be too entangled in this matter.
"Fifteen days later, in the same place! I will invite witnesses from various dimensions, and I want to see both Flamel alive and all individuals involved in the attack on Sifuer’s team here. Remember my words! All involved! Including those soldiers behind you who attacked Sifuer’s subordinates." Audess hadn’t been happy for long before Pei Yan pointed with arrogance at each of the soldiers who had been chasing Jessica and others just now. All those pointed at changed expressions, facing Pei Yan’s mechanical eye brimming with killing intent and provocative meaning, everyone silently lowered their heads, feeling angry yet afraid to speak out.
"What if we don’t hand over these people? Or, if we do hand them over, how do you plan to deal with them?" Audess asked, raising her eyebrows slightly in response.
"Trial! Though I feel it would be just a formality, in my opinion, simply executing them is justified! You can prevent it, but if you truly do so, then it’s war! Don’t misunderstand, it’s not war between the cornerstone dimension’s investigation hall and the mage dimension’s council city, but between me! Just me and a few willing to follow me against you!" Pei Yan candidly expressed his thoughts.
"Pei Yan, who do you think you are? Do you think you alone qualify to declare war against the whole mage dimension?" The Bright Bishop, standing by, was finally angered by Pei Yan’s arrogant attitude and started taunting.
"Tsk!" Pei Yan looked at the Bright Bishop with disgust, then turned to Mei Simiao, pretending to act dumb, "What’s this person’s name again? Mei, Mei something."
"Meredith." Mei Simiao responded weakly, then looked at Meredith as if observing a dead person. This fool who couldn’t see the situation insisted on provoking Pei Yan at this crucial moment – does he think he’s lived too long? The Vlad family participated, sending out six Dukes equivalent to bishops, all of whom Pei Yan managed to wipe out entirely. Knowing this fact, does he still dare act like this, believing Pei Yan wouldn’t dare kill him under the council’s protection?
"Oh! It’s Meredith! You are the Bright Church choice Flamel mentioned in the crystal ball to monitor us, right?"
"And what if I am?" Meredith responded disdainfully, raising his head.
"Meredith!" Audess intervened to stop her companion’s brainless behavior, but it was already too late!
