Chapter 1415: Recuperating Alone
Chapter 1415: Chapter 1415: Recuperating Alone
Since Yu Zhongmin said that things haven’t deteriorated to the point where immediate action is necessary, Pei Yan didn’t bother to continue pursuing it. Without Lin Junzhao’s reminder, he was more aware than anyone of how terrible his current physical condition was.
Thinking of this, he no longer refused, nodded to Yu Zhongmin in farewell, and turned to walk toward the Transfer and Dispatch Center. Just as he stepped into the teleportation array, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Yu Zhongmin leaning in to say something to Gu Shenghui, and Gu Shenghui’s expression grew increasingly gloomy as he listened.
Exhausted in mind and body, Pei Yan followed the agents to the standalone villa prepared for him. After thanking them, he pushed the door open and entered to find that although it was a temporary construction, it had complete facilities. Not only was it fully furnished and equipped with appliances, there was even a designated area for fitness. When he opened the bathroom door, he was pleasantly surprised to find that someone had thoughtfully prepared a bathtub of water at the perfect temperature.
Pei Yan first raised his hand to condense a human-sized special iron canister. Fortunately, the bathroom was spacious enough that even placing this canister didn’t make it feel cramped. After doing this, he took a deep breath and released his mecha state.
"Hiss~ Ugh~ Ah~!" The moment his mecha state was released, Pei Yan drew a sharp breath as a painful groan escaped his lips. If anyone had seen Pei Yan at that moment, they would have been shocked by his physical condition. Most of his body’s surface looked like it had been riddled with bullet holes, leaving it full of varying-sized cavities. Some wounds were dark red with new muscles growing, while others, devoid of blood supply, appeared white and sallow, seemingly necrotic. Pei Yan’s face, upon lifting the disguise, revealed scars caused by Delacuri using his blood.
These wounds were caused by Pei Yan cutting away the parts of his body infected by blood toxins during battle. Once he released his mecha, unleashing them, the injuries became apparent on his body. Pei Yan staggered to the shower, turned it on, and let the hot water cascade over him. The instant stimulation from the shower aggravated the pain from his wounds, sending a shiver down his spine, but he gritted his teeth and didn’t make a sound. He began using his Power of Origin to heal the wounds while simultaneously extracting the infiltrated blood toxin from his bloodstream, letting it flush out with the shower’s current.
While doing so, he didn’t forget to use Blood Race sorcery to manipulate the flowing blood, separating it from the cascading hot water. Since this blood contained blood toxin, Pei Yan wasn’t sure if letting it into the drainage system might cause unforeseen consequences. To be safe, he had preemptively condensed an iron canister to collect the toxic blood.
Undertaking this task under the showerhead, Pei Yan wasn’t sure how long he stood there until the water heater depleted all the hot water, leaving only cold. It wasn’t until his bodily blood toxins had been aggressively cleansed and his surface wounds healed that he wearily turned off the shower. He stepped over to the bathtub, placed a hand in the now cool bath water, and used his abilities to reheat it to a comfortable temperature before sinking into it.
"Phew!" Immersed fully in warm water, with only his head exposed, Pei Yan exhaled a long breath of pent-up air, finally feeling released from the combat state. He leaned his head against the tub’s edge, gazing at the bathroom ceiling, reflecting on the day filled with perilous engagements. The Bloodshed’s reaction and Delacuri’s combat prowess had exceeded his expectations. However, his injuries were predominantly due to the eerie and treacherous Blood Race magic wielded by Delacuri. Pei Yan believed that with any other adversary of the same level, he wouldn’t have been pushed to such a challenging predicament.
Perhaps this was one reason Bloodshed had selected Delacuri to hold him—a target he must address but couldn’t quickly resolve. Unsure what the Bloodshed had sacrificed to achieve, Pei Yan reckoned answers would surface in a few days and didn’t rush. As he rested and recovered, he probed Delacuri’s lineage for any leftover information, hoping to learn Blood Race magic while searching for overlooked crucial points.
Feeling the memory within the bloodline, Pei Yan’s lips curled; delight sprang not just from learning new skills, but also finding intriguing things. Be it unintentional or driven mad by Bloodshed casting him aside, Delacuri’s bloodline memory revealed numerous details about inconspicuous spatial barriers he had led Bloodshed forces to infiltrate within the magic realms. However, from the memory fragments, it seemed Bloodshed didn’t entirely trust Delacuri, using him only to locate these barriers and Elemental Spirit hideouts without fully explaining the purpose.
Just as Pei Yan was marking these locations for future notification to the magic realms, a crisp knock on the bathroom door was heard.
"Captain Pei! Are you there? Are you alright?" The agent sent to check on him couldn’t help but ask with concern. It wasn’t likely for someone at Pei Yan’s level to die from lack of oxygen due to poor ventilation, yet he had stayed inside for over three hours, and the sound of water had ceased long ago.
"I’m fine, you don’t need to worry!" Pei Yan replied, then added, "Oh, by the way! After my bath, I’ll rest to recover my spirit, so please arrange for someone to clean up! Don’t touch the iron canister; I haven’t decided how to handle it. I’ll decide after I wake up."
"Oh, okay then!" The agent outside, clueless about the "iron canister," casually agreed.
Another half-hour passed before Pei Yan emerged from the bath, cloaked in a robe, proceeded to his prepared bedroom, pulled back the covers, and slipped under them. Commanding Suzi to discreetly mend his spirit and mental state, he closed his eyes and drifted into sleep.
Upon reopening his eyes, Pei Yan knew, with Suzi’s prompt, that he’d slept for a day and a half. During this time, personnel like Gu Chu had checked on him, noted his good recovery and steady breathing, then quietly left. Stretching and feeling revitalized once more, Pei Yan shook his shoulders, sprung from bed, and grabbed the neatly folded clothes at his bedside. The familiar faint scent of the shirt collar brought a smile to his face.
"You’re up! Are you ready to eat now?" Zhao Yuanhu, reading in the living room, heard the bedroom door open and, without looking back, softly inquired.
