Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor
Chapter 140: Hunter Carnival
Lucy walked out of the Monster Area without looking back.
She made up her mind—after the Trial ended, she would never have anything to do with Prince Derek again.
She would also leave his team.
Although the Trial was near the end and whether she left the team or not would make little difference, she must make her attitude clear.
After he had done something like that, if Lucy still stayed in Derek’s team as if nothing had happened, then what would that make her?
There is one iron rule in the Trials. Students are not allowed to kill other students.
Violators will be disqualified and expelled, and if the case is serious, there can be more punishments from outside the academy, like civil accountability.
Lucy won’t be happy if Derek gets away with his actions.
A part of her was sure he will be punished, but the other part of her knows that this boy in question was good at twisting words and playing with rules.
Rules were dead, but people were alive. What clause could not be argued against?
Whatever, whatever, Derek didn’t intend to kill those students, but he had caused that situation with his own hands, so their deaths were his fault, and in Lucy’s eyes, he was the murderer.
Who or what delivered the killing blow doesn’t change the actions that led to it...
After leaving the monster zone, Lucy looked down at her token and ended up more sour when she saw the points she lost because she was Derek’s teammate, so the deaths were part of her evaluation.
The points Lucy thought she would obtain today were nothing.
At this point, her campaign was apart at the seams, and even becoming Summa was out of her reach.
If not for the breakthrough she achieved, her trip would have been a waste of time and energy, so the breakthrough was Lucy’s compensation. At least, it could not be considered that she had gained nothing.
Lucy focused in her soul space to feel the Malefic Spider again. This time she checked the status. After going through so much, who could say? Maybe her spider had changed species and got a higher potential.
〖Species: Malefic Spider (Elder)〗
〖Type: Combat〗
〖Rank: 4.0 | Potential ???〗
This was numeric proof!
Her beast had leveled up for the first time in forever!
Lucy breathed a sigh of relief.
But what she didn’t expect was that Lilith didn’t undergo the species evolution she anticipated. Even stranger, the Potential of her beast was now a hidden status?
This was another strange matter brought about by the breakthrough, and Lucy could not explain the reason behind it. She was clueless because she had stagnated for so long, some parameters regarding evolution became foreign, so she didn’t question it.
Lazy enough, Lucy threw all the questions to her System to worry about.
But there’s one question she must answer herself.
How could Derek’s summon evolve to Mythic Tier?
There was only one Mythic summoner in their generation, and it was Queen Scarlett.
Derek having an Ancient-grade summon was one thing, but Mythic was another, and who could have imagined he awakened his summon as Primal-grade?
There must be some beast technique or art he employed, or is he meddling for something beyond everyone’s scope?
This was also one of the reasons Lucy insisted on having him punished.
Using the deaths of those students to make an issue out of it was only the reason on the surface.
As long as he was punished, the Confederation and other forces might intervene in the investigation and restrict him and his Slime—because if no one restricts Derek, he might break through Mythic tier and keep going.
Ten minutes later, Lucy left the Monster Zone and found herself walking along a railway track.
She walked for a while, not paying sufficient attention to where she was going, but enjoying the fact of being able to be a beast master again.
Soon, she heard the sound of music and festivity, louder every second, and Lucy realized she had wandered into the Hunter Carnival.
The place was packed with people, bustling and lively.
Colorful canopy tops, stalls, games, snack stands, performances, and all manner of entertainment.
In the distance, a Ferris wheel turned slowly. In the sky not so far, a dragon kite and a Phoenix kite danced with each other.
The atmosphere was riotous and euphoric—Hunters laughed, chatted, played games, showing off their beasts to friends and strangers. They were different kinds of beasts here. But the majority were combat beasts.
Or maybe summoners with combat beasts are more likely to flaunt them.
The Hunter Carnival was a grand celebration of the bond between humans and beasts, though it was only one of a handful of celebrations held across Country 1.
There was a grander festival held once every four years, and the grandest hosted once every ten years, but this carnival was more local, and centered around your everyday Hunter.
And it was precisely because of this that the carnival felt homely— because no great figures or powerful clans were dominating it here. Most of the people here were merely low-ranked Hunters, come to relax and enjoy themselves alongside their beasts.
Lucy noticed that many people were wearing masks, so she entered a tent and bought one for herself too.
As a noble, staying anonymous here was more useful to her than anywhere else if she wanted to enjoy the carnival without drawing unnecessary attention.
In the end, she walked out wearing a peacock mask, its blue-green color suiting her hair rather well.
A while later, Lucy came across another tent selling special bracelets. At first she wanted to ignore it, having no interest in wasting money on unnecessary things, but the seller explained that the bracelet could hide a beast’s rank from anyone scanning the crowd in search of might.
Lucy thought this was great because she had an Elder beast.
Elder-grade beasts were rare.
Many people felt that seeing one was about as unlikely as seeing a paralyzed cat, so Lucy asked for a bracelet.
The woman selling the bracelets complimented her on her beauty and gave her a twenty percent discount. Though Lucy was wealthy enough that the price meant nothing to her, she accepted the discount without hesitation and also cherished the compliment.
