Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor
Chapter 138: Supreme State
Lucy had seen when other beasts entered Supreme State, but Lilith could not.
However, that’s old news. Lilith could, and this gave Lucy a way to slay the Unkindly Cockatrice!
For the first time, she asked Supreme State from her beast, and Lilith was able to activate it. Typically, Lucy always had errors in her everyday aptitude as a summoner. Accustomed to do this, a part of her was afraid that her spider willl demonstrate Supreme State in the wrong way.
However, her breakthrough was also a refinement of her aptitude.
"Lilith, Supreme State!" Lilith beckoned at the top of her voice.
FWOOSH!
A priceless metamorphosis!
The Malefic Spider became twenty times bigger than before, with longer and fatter legs like cacti. Every leg had spikes like a giant’s club, so even the ground flunked as the spider tromped.
Lucy finally saw what her beast was capable of, but it was more than her expectations; she couldn’t even recognise Lilith. Her many eyes burned like coal in the dark, and she had the face of a snarling demon, patterns of a panther, and mandibles that hinted at a vicious appetite.
Now the size of a small mountain, the Malefic Spider appeared more malign than the Unkindly Cockatrice.
If this couldn’t reassure Lucy, nothing could.
"Lilith, we have a chance to kill this Guardian with this extreme power," Lucy said inwardly, using her new skill, Spirit Link. "Supreme State can go to waste if the summoner is inept with their summon, because what’s the state for if you don’t know what and how to attack?"
As the saying goes, an undisciplined giant is no more dangerous than a child.
That is synonymous with having great strength but not knowing how to use it being no different from having no strength at all.
A stronger force did not inherently imply better offense, better positioning, or better decisions, and without dexterity, the summoner might spend the entire duration of Supreme State struggling to command a beast that had become too powerful for their own understanding.
Lilith waited for Lucy’s commands, obsidian and nightmarish, with a presence that brought distress.
From the looks of it, it seems Lucy had put too many irons in the furnace, and now the flames were bigger than what she can control. But, on the contrary, Lucy had full authority.
"Lilith, Supreme Blacken!"
Lucy couldn’t believe this was the feeling she’d been missing for a very long time.
With Supreme Blacken, Lilith was as fast as a hundred shadows together and wound around the cockatrice, delivering stabs and poison. It was almost as big as the cockatrice now, which made the feat easier to do.
The Unkindly Cockatrice was not a match for the Supreme State Malefic Spider’s poison because it was poison from a "heightened domain." So the difference in domain was more than enough to overcome the Cockatrice’s natural resistance.
The Cockatrice struggled to breathe as the poison spread through its body, repeatedly opening its beak to release dragon fire only for its breathing to falter before the flames could fully form. Its body burned with rage as Lilith continued wrapping around it, making the enormous guardian appear as though it had been caught in an invisible web.
This was the effect of Supreme Malefic Space, which gave the Malefic Spider its own "sphere of reality." In this sphere of reality, there are a thousand black webs as thick and big as trees, vertical and horizontal, attached everywhere like glue, leaving nowhere for the Cockatrice to move, a pity given its size. Soon, even a moon came out into the sky, but the moon was five times larger than the normal moon as it became another part of the reality created by Lilith.
Trapped in this sphere was the Unkindly Cockatrice that was just a threat and a catastrophe a moment ago; now it was writhing for its life.
Its strength could not solve the problem because everything existing inside the sphere was beyond the scope of its materialism, leaving it helpless!
Lucy opened her mouth in shock as the manifestation unfolded without backlash. Even she did not expect Lilith to produce something on this scale.
"My beast... Responsible for this?"
Unfortunately, she winced in pain.
More headaches overwhelmed her because activating Supreme State also overwhelms her Resonance. It was too strong, she found herself having six malevolent eyes beyond her will, and her voice echoing like a thousand lives speaking through her.
Lucy clenched her teeth to endure, then pointed at the helpless chicken-dragon trapped in eternal webs, and ordered, "Destroy!"
Soon, the Unkindly Cockatrice became dust and molt just in time as Lucy exhausted Supreme State.
However, Lucy was left equally exhausted and had to dismiss Lilith immediately, leaving her without even enough strength to celebrate the victory.
〖Congratulations! You have slain the Unkindly Cockatrice!〗
〖You have received 4,000 XP!〗
〖Congratulations! You have reached Level 38!〗
Once Supreme State ended, the sphere of reality disappeared with it, and the surroundings returned to normal. The big moon, perpetual webs, and everything else created by Supreme Malefic Space vanished, leaving the shelter chamber as it was.
Tired and drained, Lucy must find a way to replenish herself, as it wasn’t good to be this vulnerable.
Even though everything was cleared, there could be some little danger left.
Good thing she could absorb the core of the Unkindly Cockatrice, and by her estimation, it would be a gold mine for energy.
Lucy mustered her strength and scurried to the core, but when she was about to pick it up, someone stepped on it.
It was Derek. Where he’d been all this while—she had no idea, but she didn’t fancy him being so petty as to even take this core because she was the one who killed the Guardian herself.
"Job well done, my queen," Derek said as Lucy looked up at him, his voice too cheerful for the carnage they just experienced.
Derek’s face was mostly hidden by the darkness, but his slime on his shoulder could be seen better because of the new appearance it had.
Mordred’s appearance had changed again, and the dark-red markings covering its body gave off a strange halo.
Lucy didn’t know if she was daydreaming, but the smirk on Derek’s face told her this wasn’t a fluke.
"M—Mythic tier?" she whispered.
